well there's one so obvious written all over this site that i'm not gonna name it.
there's runescape which is alright free but a LOT more fun with $8/month subscription (cheaper than most of you spend on NX i bet).
then there's League of legends which everybody plays. free to play can do everything, but most people who like the game pay exorbitant prices for either convenience (can spend real money to cut corners) or purely cosmetic reasons (skins that make you look different in game). kinda like what maplestory used to be (spend NX on clothes only) before NX was given more practical uses.
@Jarretboyle: They give you a free 1 month unlimited trial right now so i figured by the time that was done with it would be time for the real F2P release and they allow you to continue the same character from the trial so I just counted that as it starting now. But yeah you're right, only difference is that in the trial you can't do some things.
@AlmaElma I've never played DoTA, but if it's like LoL where even if you know the basics you would still lack champions / runes / masteries due to lack of time / money invested, new players could never make it without getting raged at.
It is significantly different. For one, all heros are available at the start, and there is absolutely nothing that can be purchased or earned to improve your in-game gameplay. No extra heros, no runes, nothing of that sort. There are many, many more mechanics and techniques to Dota than there are to LoL. One tiny example of many would be how stacked neutral creeps can be pulled into the lane to kill a friendly creep wave, while your laning partner aggros an enemy creep wave and pulls them past his tower to stop the friendly creep wave after that, successfully preventing two friendly creep waves from pushing or giving gold/exp to the enemy heros.
It's a more complex game, considerably different from LoL.
Like I said, so long as one is not a complete idiot, they do not get yelled at. In the worst case scenario that it does happen one game, one can deal with it. We are not all young children that cannot take criticism, even if it is severe.
There are maybe around 40+ good free shooters/MMOs out their. There are to many to list so I will tell you about the ones I enjoyed the most.
Aion Online Starwars The Old Republic Forsaken World Perfect World Runes of Magic Guild Wars 2 (No sub, but you still need to pay the 45-60$ to get game) Tera Firefall Planetside 2 Battlefield 4 Free DoTA 2 (This will go full f2p soon) Allods Online DC Universe Online Alliance of Valiant Arms
Future games that will likely be F2P and amazing:
Elder Scrolls Online (Unlikely to be free at launch, but possible.) Everquest Next City of Heroes Defiance (Playing the beta its fun) Shaiya Online Star Trek Online
LoL is actually really easy to pick up and play
I was just using LoL as an example. I'm saying if DoTA has a leveling system, out-game store that helps you in-game, etc., you can't really blame new players for getting a negative K: D.

People are treated poorly when they speak no English in this very team oriented game, do not bother to read the basics about the game for 5-10 minutes before starting PvP (ideally though, they should spend a few hours learning much more information), or are downright idiotic. This is also the case when they dive right into PvP when it's obviously a much better idea to practice a bot game then a coop bot game.
If they do not have the competency of a 10 year old child to read some basics about the game and not be foolish, they deserve to be scolded. No one rages at anyone in COOP games when learning, unless they fit the above description and ruin the game for anyone else.
If you speak from experience, simply because you lack the skill to play the game doesn't make it bad. If you had the ability to play the game properly, you would not see so much negativity.
GW2 50 bucks compared to TERA free?
SCREW GW2
GW2 was pretty terrible.
Played it for less than a week, and quit at 55 because all you do is explore. PvE is terrible; it takes more time than skill to kill bosses/monsters. PvP sucks until you grind for end game PvP-only gear.
I heard of this one game called Maplestory. jk jk But for real doe, if you want to search up f2p games you can go to google for help, it is alot more effective. There's one game thats pretty fun, Cabal.
