Technically it's not. They quest for the skill it's self, not a book that gives them a skill.

The class that probably requires the least books is mech. You get your 4th job mastery skill (Extreme Mech) without any books, and it can be put to max level 30 without books. Then it only needs a c ouple more books, but only 2 of them are extremely important.

Every job needs books in fourth job...
