Portal is a first-person puzzle-platform video game developed by Valve Corporation. The game was originally released as a part of The Orange Box bundle for Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360 in October 2007 and for the PlayStation 3 in April 2008. A standalone Windows version became available through Steam in April 2008, with additional releases for Mac OS X in May 2010 and the Nvidia Shield in May 2014. The game primarily comprises a series of puzzles that must be solved by teleporting the player's character and simple objects using a portal gun.
The game is designed to change the way players approach, manipulate, and surmise the possibilities in a given environment; similar to how Half-Life® 2's Gravity Gun innovated new ways to leverage an object in any given situation.
Players must solve physical puzzles and challenges by opening portals to maneuvering objects, and themselves, through space.
