The first one just rolled around and took pictures.
The next two were geological explorers checking out rocks and the possibility that water might have existed on Mars.

This one is a complete organic chemistry laboratory the size of an SUV with a nuclear power plant that will explore Mars for at least 2 years looking for conditions that might have allowed life to develop on Mars. It's bigger, faster, better and more complex than anything before.

Also they used the most "Rube Goldberg" crazy nutso method of landing never even imagined in the wildest Sci-Fi. And it worked.

I talked our IT stuff into putting it on in the staff meeting room. Watching the people jump for joy at the confirmation of its successful landing was pretty much the most satisfying moment in a long time.

The emotion that comes with success after years and years of preparation, for that one single moment. Similarly to how many athletes cry.
