Gaming Addiction Discussion
In CNN's video discussing gaming addiction, they talk about distinguishing differences between preparing for a game and isolating one's self from society?

Do you have any of the symptoms?
1. Disrupted regular life pattern. If a person plays games all night long and sleeps in the daytime, that can be a warning he or she should seek professional help.
2. If the potential gaming or Internet addict loses his or her job, or stops going to school in order to be online or to play a digital game.
3. Need for a bigger fix. Does the gamer have to play for longer and longer periods in order to get the same level of enjoyment from the game?
4. Withdrawal. Some Internet and gaming addicts become irritable or anxious when they disconnect, or when they are forced to do so.
5. Cravings. Some Internet and gaming addicts experience cravings, or the need to play the game or be online when they are away from the digital world.
(P.S. look at around 8 minutes.)

I had some of those symptoms before when I played maple. Nothing to crazy. Now I play whenever I feel like it. I didn't go to school or work this whole year and I didn't really play to much though I was on the computer for several hours =P
Not at all. I'm a casual gamer to the core. Give me entry level video games for 25-40 minutes once per week or less and I'll be happy.
nope, lazy, play when bored
hmm number 1 seems like me except i dont sleep during the day.
im sure a lot of gamers play a lot during the night , even sometimes pull all nighters its partt of being a gamer!
I used to have these symptoms when I was like 11, when I started playing Maplestory.
Now its like, eh. Whatever. I'll play when I'm bored.

I do this when there's nothing to do but other than that I have a regular sleep pattern. During the summer my sleep pattern is abnormal no matter what though.

I have never done that.

I've actually played less and less as I got older. More things to do now that I'm in uni.
4. Withdrawal. Some Internet and gaming addicts become irritable or anxious when they disconnect, or when they are forced to do so.
Depends on the situation, really. If I need to go online to do things (check bills, email, hw, etc) I would be super irritated.
5. Cravings. Some Internet and gaming addicts experience cravings, or the need to play the game or be online when they are away from the digital world.
I don't recall ever craving over gaming, lol.
Do you guys agree with that pro-gaming logic that it's okay to isolate yourself if you are training yourself to do the best?
I don't relate to any of those symptoms but I feel like I play a lot
I count myself as a gaming addict, but Im not as bad as this

I fit most, if not all of those symptoms
I feel sorry for you.

I fit most, if not all of those symptoms
they're milder though. And half of 'em are also symptoms of burnout and "idgaf anymore"
Used to have to have some of those symptoms but they were just very mild. I just play if I can't find something to do now-a-days
Actually, one of the symptoms I had was very serious, where it got in the way of my school work, and now my grades suffered 'cause of it.
Sometimes they get in the way of homework, but i still get good grades if i do say so myself
I have none of those symptoms and I game a lot... Strange.
A lot of people do; it's just that the 5 signs show that the person may need serious attention.
none of these. at all.
I believe these are just conclusions
