Math Help Please.

I have an assignment that I'm working on for math, I just can't get the answer on this question for the life of me (without guess-and-checking)... Maybe it's because I've been doing these word problems for a few hours, or maybe it's cause it's 12:30, or maybe it's because I'm just stupid, but I can't get it.

Anyways, should be easy enough to figure out, for some of you pros out there:

If a + b = 38 and b + c = 32 and c + d = 25, then find the value of a + d.

If you guys can get that, there's a harder one that I also can't get...

Thanks for the help though.

EDIT:

The sum of digits of a three-digit number is 12. If the units and the tens digits are interchanged, the number is increased by 36. If the units and the hundreds digits are interchanged, the number is increased by 198. Find the number.

Harder one...

Alright, you guys will be glad to hear that I was able to do it in another situation...

When 3 numbers are combined in pairs, their numbers are 33, 39, and 42.

I was able to get 15, 18, and 24, cause I realized how easy it was... Thanks again.
Somewhat off topic but, how old are you, TS?
I've always thought of you as one of the older Basilers o3o
Lol, 16. Grade 11 math...

And thanks for the help guys, I've been trying all of the sub in things for like 15 minutes before this, and it just wasn't working.

I can always depend on you guys.

Oh yeah, and the harder one:

The sum of digits of a three-digit number is 12. If the units and the tens digits are interchanged, the number is increased by 36. If the units and the hundreds digits are interchanged, the number is increased by 198. Find the number.

Actually, reading it over again, I might get it. I'll plug away...

a = 38 - b
b = 32 - c
d = 25 - c
d + 7 = 32 - c

a = 38 - b
a = 38 - (32 - c)
a = 38 - (d)
a + d = 38

EDIT: Wait what. I must've done something wrong, Wolfram Alpha says it's 31.

Nvm I think I got it.

a = 38 - b
a = 38 - (32 - c)
a = 38 - (d + 7)
a + d = 38 - 7
a + d = 31
