I think Nexon has lost their minds

Ok so seriously, everyone has been saying that Maplestory is a "pay to win game" pretty much the more nx you buy the better you are. At first I was defending Maplestory but now that they just posted the new cash shop specials with these crazy prices i'm starting to believe it more and more....Seriously Nexon 159,040 NX for Max Inventory! Are they insane? Not to mention all of the other Max Equip or Max Use or what ever is 40,000 NX and up. Who would spend THAT much on this game?

I seriously wish Maplestory would go back to the way it used to be!

@ Chilbro- I feel like this game is geared towards anyone who is less than 25 years old, first of all what kid has that kind of money to spend on something so stupid, and what kind of parent would just hand over 160$ to their kid for an online game? I mean seriously, your post makes no sense.
I'm sure it's already been said, but I don't feel like reading through all 6 pages at the moment so yeah. Making $160 is not that hard. When I was 15 and 16 I worked a summer job making $7.25 an hour, 20 hours a week, for basically 2 months. At the end of all that I had maybe 1 grand left after taxes.

If a "kid" really wanted money, it wouldn't exactly be out of reach, but that's only if you want to spend it. The real ridiculous thing about that sale is the fact that they're doing it when an event currently gives you 4 free slots randomly (the happy time event). Why would I spend money when I could potentially get plenty of space for free from the event? Silly Nexon.

More convenient for people who merch a lot or just like to collect random things and hoard items.

actually i like to keep things even if they aren't worth very much, so expanding inventory slots for me is a huge convenience. i just don't think i'll pay more than a few dollars for it.

Although I do agree, it is "pay2win", @Chillbro's statement does make sense and is completely true.
Whether you like the $160 price tag or not, someone else out there doesn't care for it and Nexon doesn't care either. That's Nexon's source of income. I guarantee AT LEAST one person will buy it and hey, if they don't... Nexon tried, it's not like it hurt them doing so. Some people have money to throw around, you know... those people that sit on their butt in a high chair while you're making minimum wage and working hard. And as for kids, MANY parents spoil their kids. I wouldn't doubt some 13 year old's parents just hand their child $100+ weekly allowance - without chores - for their kid to spend on whatever they want. I'm sure those kind of parents wouldn't even care if their kid wanted to trade it in for virtual currency. When people have money to blow, it's no longer about the necessities. Life, right?
With that said, $160 is nothing if you have a job anyway.

EDIT: You are not stupid for your opinion. But when you share your opinion publicly, expect that people will share their opinions as well. As for being respectful about it, some people just don't understand that concept.

How is this an example of pay to win? This is more of a convenience. Literally, having more inventory space will not add anything to your dps at all.

@CuaToiTim: Cheaper than buying it at a singular amount, which I had previously done on one of my characters, yet no one ever complained about that before. Now with the convenience of buying it all at once and seeing a very misleading 'high' amount people are complaining for no real reason.

u cant win this game. u dont have to pay a single penny to enjoy the game. if u pay, u enjoy better and things will be more convenient. if u run out of slots then make more account to make mules. its just inconvenient. same goes for hyper tele rock, pets. cubes makes u stronger which makes u kill things faster and train faster and thus makes ur life easier.

I'm sorry if I've upset you. I didn't mean to imply you were stupid by simply disagreeing with you. That's not what I meant at all. I'll be your friend. I like for my friends to have opinions. My friends disagree with me all the time. Just don't be angry if someone disagrees with you. They have opinions too. You're not stupid though. Don't think that of yourself. There's a vast difference between simply disagreeing on a point, and intending to insult someone/implying they're stupid/etc. I meant the former, not the latter.
Wow........This is how you talk to people, society is so sad now-a-days. Just because parents are rich doesn't mean they give their kids money to spend on a silly game. Im pretty sure MOST parents now wantt to know what their kids are buying for 160$ or whatever.

And I know how much money people put into this game, and I think it frivolous. Especially when prices on actual food, clothes, gas ect. in the real world (Which you have probably never experienced yet) are going up, the value of the dollar is going down pretty soon it will be worth nothing. So yeah, I think its stupid for Nexon to price items the way they do.

Oh, and dont talk to me like that. I am entitled to my opinion just like everyone else who plays this game, if you cant comment or debate without saying things like "your balls havent dropped yet" then i'm sorry but you are obviously to immature to discuss anything rationally or logically.

EDIT: I was giving an estimate of the ages in maple, using logic from talking to people. Its called an educated guess.
The average age of MapleStory players is like 18-20. This was already proven by a survey a few years ago. On top of that, as the person you quoted stated, the people spending money on the game aren't children. They're adults. That said, who are you to judge how someone spends their money? I might think your car too fancy, and a waste of money. What about those shoes? You dont need $100 sneakers. You should have bought the $30 ones at Payless. And what of those clothes? You don't need those name-brand clothes. You best take your ass down to Wal-Mart and get your some fall-apart gear.

I don't seriously mean these things, but you see my point. Spending is subjective. It has nothing to do with you. If I wanted to, (which I don't, but let's say I did), I could walk into the Cash Shop right this instant and buy the max slots, spending $160 on slots. Who's to stop me, and what concern is it of yours? If I don't buy them, you're not going to get my money. Starving children in Africa aren't going to get my money. It's not going to go towards some greater-good if I don't. You're logic falls along the lines of "finish everything on your plate. There's starving children in China." <--- This makes no damn sense. It's fail logic. Whether I eat everything on my plate or not, the children in China will still starve.

At the end of the day, yes, you have your opinion. Not a problem. That said, does your opinion dictate the spending habits of another human being? No. Does your opinion that it's stupid make all of us 12 year old kids that should be talked down to and told what to do with our extra money? No. Is anything you mentioned towards another's spending habits any of your business? No. Do the people that do pay for NX make the game free for the rest of you to even have the game to play? Yes. It sure does. Without our spending, this MapleStory fansite forum wouldn't even be here for you to have an opinion on the matter to begin with.

"Only if you want to be better will you need to pay" .... "You shouldn't complain" .... "People like you can play for free"

......

Where do I begin... First of all, I have never bought anything to "be better" I earn everything myself, I spend my time grinding, lvling, and farming my own mesos/items whatever like you are supposed to do. I will occasionally buy 2x exp cards or 2x drop cards if I want to lvl faster or whatever. So I have a right to "compain" if I want to about Nexon or prices. I have supported this game for over 5 years, I am now 24 years old, married, and working at a hospital earning MY own money.... If I like Nexon is unfair I have a right to say so.

Maple's not "Pay2Win" until they charge admission to the Black Mage boss. People just say it is because they want to compete with paying members, but are too lazy or impatient to participate in events or use game mechanics to improve their characters (outside of leveling).

And I know I'm going to get flamed by Nexon haters and people who think everything should just be handed to them for signing in, but whatever.

How does someone having max inventory slots effect YOUR game play at all? They're offering it to people who collect things, because if you bought 8 slots, for 6.4k nx each, it'd be way more money spent than if you buy this giant package. When does someone being able to hold 96 equips/use/etc items get a better benefit than you, holding maybe 24 items? Let the hoarders become hoarders, the collectors be collectors, and you do your own thing. You're not forced to buy a single item in the cash shop and people who have the money in real life to pay for it, let them spend it their way. Don't complain if you don't have the money because getting a part time job is just as easy, and you get more than you ask for when you do.

This thread is stupid. If you count all the prices of extra space inventory, it would be around 200-300k nx cash? Nobody ever complained about that, now its only 'insane' because its an big number. You get like 30% cheaper.
