How does one go about customizing a tumblr blog?

This might be in the wrong section but I know more hipsters will see it this way. Anyway, how do I change it? It just stays a drab blue, even when I select a theme.

Ugh.
The default theme is already borderline hard to navigate. We can't always like or repost when we're on a post. The mobile site sucks.
but the custom themes? Man, people can never code them right. They look pretty but navigating the page is near impossible. Don't make a dark grey text on a black background. And don't make a picture on top that looks like a dam post. And then why the hell can't I find the next and previous buttons?
Ugh. Tumblr layouts.

So uh, yeah. I hate blogging and microblogging archives and layouts. It's like the only way to find what you want is to just google search "site:web-url what-you-want-to-find"

well you need to actually install the theme
either by clicking an install button or putting the html in yourself. then you've got the basic options like what fonts, colors for links/font/etc. and your different sidebar stuff. i mean as you get into more complicated themes there are more options.

i'm not really sure how else to find themes, but tumblr has that "theme garden" it opens when you look for themes and you could also peek in the "redux edit" tag, but i just have a preference for those kind of themes.

Go to your tumblr page, then customize and save it.
