Sensory Deprivation Chambers

Sensory Deprivation Chambers, also known as 'Flotation Tanks' are probably the most unknown, underrated, and unacknowledged experiences that there is, so I'm going to tell you about them and tell you what my first time in one was like.

Sensory deprivation tanks are a type of hydrotherapy, their purpose is to deprive your body of it's senses to the point where it's just you and your mind with zero external influences.

The tank itself is a sound proof chamber that you lay down in. Inside the tank you are laying on water that has 800-1000 lbs of dissolved Epsom Salt in it. So much dissolved salt causes your body to act like a cork since the water is so dense. It becomes impossible to sink even if you try. The water and air in the tank is heated to your body temperature so it becomes impossible to tell the difference between the air, your body, and the water, everything feels like one and being in the tank makes you lose your sensations of touch, sight, and sound. You even lose track of time. This experience mimics weightlessness, you no longer feel the weight of gravity. Every muscle in your body is being held perfectly by the extremely buoyant salt-water so you feel no strain at all.

You'll be in a very unique state of mind having all external influences and your senses eliminated, complete darkness. The experience is different for everyone, some people talk about astral projection and having outer-body experiences while in the tank, others say they had psychedelic experiences, some have epiphanies and gain greater understanding of things in their life and what they want to do, the possibilities are endless.

I went in one yesterday for my first time, I was in the tank for 1hr and 30mins, you can usually stay in for as long as you want, some people even sleep in the tank. It was honestly the most amazing experience of my life, it was the most relaxed I have ever been and I felt completely rejuvenated when I got out. In the tank it was like no negativity of my life could get in, it's hard to explain, it's something you have to try for yourself. You can also choose to have music playing, or have it completely silent.

It costs $40 - $100 a session depending on where you live, I highly recommend you guys try this at least once. I plan on going once a month. Just Google "Sensory deprivation tanks (insert city you live in here)" to find the closest one to you and book an appointment, trust me, you won't regret it.
