Here's the 100% working solution.

1.) Do your homework.
2.) Play Maple after you're done.

Your task bar.. Well you mean that thing when you click on Task Manager. From what I know, you can't, because it just shows you what your computer is doing. Just stop playing Maplestory and it won't show up =D

Double Desktop or Winboss.
Double Desktop switches between 2 desktops. You can only view one at a time. It's like turning a double sided sheet over.
Winboss hides Maple into those little icons like the volume/ wireless internet button.

You can set keyboard shortcuts for both and they're 100% free. No surveys, no virus' small size.
Works like a charm, computer savvy parents don't know a thing.

so?
how do you do it?

*edit*
OT: Right click taskbar> uncheck lock taskbar>drag taskbar down till underscreen.

btw, if you are trying to hide it from someone, it makes it more suspicious. try dragging it to the side instead of hiding it in that case. (you'll only see the house symbol, not the 'Maplestory' title.
