Pirate Guide Swabbing - Let's get some guides stickied!

Ahoy my gun toting and fist punching fellows, I bear not the flag of war. Double agent Crossbowslinger Kevvl here with an important announcement.

I was talking with B about the whole guide situation, and he agrees that the guides should be way more visible and the old comment system put back into place. The problem? We gotta remove the less used and less updated guides lest they clog up half the forum page with their thick gooey uselessness. We also gotta replace the outdated Pre-BB guides with the brand spankin' new Post-BB guides that I'm sure you've all been cranking out.

Now I've never really needed a Pirate guide, so I'm pretty much blind to the situation in these waters. Any guides you think should be deleted, and any guides you think deserve a spot in the massive sticky section?

The criteria for deletion:
[*]Outdated - Anything Pre-BB fits under this category, UNLESS the owner is still active and plans to update the guide.
[*]No Longer Useful - Guides for things that are no longer necessary or weren't super necessary to begin with. If it's got a tiny bit of use, but a vague purpose? The jury's up, but I'd recommend deleting those types. This is NOT the same as outdated. You can update a useless guide all you want and it'll still be useless. Self Deprecating Example. Don't be afraid to nominate guides or guide concepts that you feel aren't necessary.
[*]Duplicated - We don't need 5 different guides dedicated to the same subject. Find the most in-depth and well organized one and keep that one. Ideally, there should be ONE guide for Pirate Skill Builds, ONE damage range thread for all Pirates, and ONE guide for Pirate Training. I realize this isn't always possible, but it would make our lives a lot easier, so those guides would get priority assuming they're still awesome. If we can cut those down to size, it gives us a lot more leniency when it comes to the more lucrative guides, such as the ones about Dex Brawlers and Pirate Misconceptions.

The criteria for stickies:
[*]Good. - No seriously. If it's clear, makes sense, and is updated, then it's a good guide. I trust the Class Section Veterans when it comes to creating and Identifying awesome guides. You don't need guidance here. No guides that fit the criteria? Make one. Here's your chance for a nearly guaranteed sticky -- assuming it doesn't suck.

Select Outdated guides will likely be archived for Pre-BB players. We'll decide that later, just focus on cleaning what's here and now.
Actually I doubt that's the case, but it works all the same.
He's pretty trigger happy and if i openly bash him (which would be the same as answering that question) i'm pretty sure i'd at least get suspended for it. Plus, old drama leads to acid reflux. I got the better end of the deal in the end anyway, so no point discussing it now.

The new guide system changed a lot of things...for the worse. Why exactly? The B works in mysterious ways.

The same way we had it all before: Guides would be unhindered at the top of the forums. JUST LIKE MOST OTHER WEBSITES HAVE IT.

as far as im concerned, everything should be changed.

^We have Brawler builds here, and we're not gonna steal guides.
@Kevvl, do you have any idea when the guides section is gonna get updated?
No. I'd say "When everything here is ready" but Mr. Basil's usually slow to act.

yea i agree halfhearted's thread is not really indepth. i think u should post varity of other monsters with decent exp not just with decent exp and spawn. u should really work with a partner(friend) in ur world so u 2 can explore together and find new training spots
and is anyone in charge of the ranges thread yet? and i find that archer thread helpful (like the pirates one)

Likely will be stickied in the general section, yeah.

Yes we need another damage ranges thread that guy hasn't up updated in a hot minute. Plus if he was still around he would have to wipe out pre big bang ranges.

Damage Ranges thread can in fact be out of date, thanks to the BB changes affecting everyone's damage range. Assuming the author still exists, it works.

@Halfhearted: The 4th job section should do it for that guide. The training guide needs to go WAY more in-depth.

IMO the Buccaneer Guide was outdated since it came out.

The first job still works (Pre BB and Post BB same build)

The 2nd job we got two new skills, other skills did lose SP points so it is some what okay. (end up being same build as guide but even before BB it was outdated. Thanks to Big Bang itself made the guide somewhat updated.)

The 3rd job we got two new skills, other skills did lose SP points. This part was really outdated before Big Bang and after big bang... I don't even want to see it.

The 4th job, I didn't reach there, but when looking at it, I thought it was okay, but I would have done differently.

In the end for Brawlers/Marauder/Bucc the forum/threads (or the players head) is way better than the guide.
The guide was a good reference but it was never for me a really good guide. Since I only use basil for builds, the forum (community) was WAY better.

- Lots a love to the pirate community

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Brawler Dexless, low-DEX and regular DEX Comparison
The idea of it still works.
It is still good even after Big Bang.
Not sure if the Guide maker did change it.
If not then new formulas needed. If did then it is okay.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The
Pirate Misconceptions Using old formulas but still workable after BB.
Pirate Key Configurations Can not be out of date, unless the guide maker stops editing O_o
Potential & Regular Pirate Damage Ranges Can not be out of date, unless the guide maker stops editing O_o

For the Gunner guides, I don't look in them so I won't be helpful.
Oh sweet! Does this mean my gunslinger guide can finally be stickied?

And as far as I'm concerned, both the Gunslingerand Outlaw guides in the actual guides section are totally outdated.

I read the gunslinger one as far as second job, where critical shot isn't mentioned at all, and the outlaw guide still advocates sniping newts and leaving flamethrower at 11.

Although I still reference the Gunslinger guide from time to time cause it lists most of the important attack speeds for slinger/outlaw/sair attacks.
It's updated, it's clean, and it looks awesomely intelligent. Heck, the training guide might even get a sticky if you go a bit more in-depth on it. This is pretty much everyone's opportunity to write a guide and have a nearly guaranteed sticky. They could both use improvement, but it's a good start.

On a side note: Yay, someone actually posted in this thread. I was beginning to worry about you Pirates

Yes, some guides still suggest sniping newts. And most don't have critical shot as stated above.
