chaptered out of army question
I've been in BCT in Fort Jackson, SC for almost 8 weeks now, and we were granted 2 weeks of leave for the holidays fortunately. However, after coming back to this kinda lifestyle, I want to talk to my drill sergeants about possibly being chaptered out of the military. The military has never been a passion of mine, nor something I ever planned on participating in. So, I would like to know that if secured, how long would it take for me to be chaptered out of the military and return home? PS: I have to go back to Fort Jackson, SC tomorrow night to continue training. I get that BCT is almost over and all, but the more I have my mind on the army overall, the more I keep thinking that I am just not personally cut out for the lifestyle that a military person lives.

Honestly, it can vary. But the best way to get out is a medical discharge... which I hope you would not do. And why do you feel that you won't be able to go through living that lifestyle?
I chose this forum bc it has a chat section... obviously this isn't about general maplestory, so...
out of all the forums you could choose, why this one... whyy?
@himym It's not even that. I just have an idea of what kind of lifestyle people live, and it's something that I just feel that I won't be able to go through. But how long would it take to be chaptered out? There were two people that got chaptered out within 2-3 weeks before we all left for xmas leave. I mean, circumstances change depending on whether you request it or not, but I just really want to know how long it'd take. In my case, it'd probably be a chapter 11 (failure to adapt) if I request it.
But it's not the first week anymore? Unless the policy is different from the USMC, if you decide to quit or leave (if still possible) you won't be able to re-enlist, and/possibly a bad record on you. I'd say, just suck it up and keep going. Maybe it's cause you're still a lower ranking that you don't see the other side of being in the military yet.
@himym Well, in the first week of BCT, our drill sergeants guaranteed that if you want to be chaptered out, then you will just have to request it yourself and they will not deny it.
EDIT: I definitely joined for the wrong reasons. I joined only because it would be a secure job that would pay me...
And you choosed it out of wrong reasons, or the wrong branch, lol. Ever think about the US Marines?
shoot your own foot.
If you already signed your contract, you're pretty much f'ed up unless you do something to disqualify yourself... but that would look bad on your record.
@above Tbh, I don't want to be one of the people in this service...lol. I mean, I respect anyone in the military, but when it comes down to it... I regret choosing to become one of them.
Thank you for your service.
