Over-obsession turns into rejection

Do you think the more obsessed you are with something as either a child or a young adult makes you more likely to reject it when you mature or outgrow it?

For me, a huge example would be manga and anime. I was so incredibly obsessed with it in middle school, and slowly diverged from it through high school. Now I barely care aside from just getting quick plot details on new manga releases. I reject anime/manga to the point of literally fearing people trying to associate me with a person who enjoys it. I don't even know why.. I have plenty of friends who love manga/anime and I don't really care or judge, but when people pool me into that category, I find myself quickly dismissing it.

you quickly dismiss it because you were so into manga that it was part of your 8th grade syndrome so oyu just want that part of you to just die or go away. forever
No, that isn't the cause. From what you said "when people pool me into that category, I find myself quickly dismissing it.", I think I already have an idea of what the cause is for you.
Why not share it?
Not necessarily. People change, so the thing you're talking about can happen at any point in your life. If anything, people tend to like things they grew up around.
well of course it doesn't always happen, I'm saying, do you think it can be a cause

Sometimes you just outgrow things.
