If it's an EMP then the electronics are fried permanently until the fried components can be replaced. If you're talking a nation's power grid, it could be years/decades.
It's actually why a single nuke from a country like Iran could theoretically wipe out a huge percentage of the US population. Take away our electric grid and starvation will kill off most of us. Obviously those who rely on medical treatments to live would die much, much sooner.

It's nothing to worry about, solar flares happen constantly. If you meant that big solar storm, that's something to worry about.
