i picked my main as it was the class i liked the most and had most fun playing
I chose to be a Crusader (yes, my goal was to be a Crusader, not a Hero at the time) a long, long time ago, when I saw how they could deal insane amount of damage once they charged up their combo orbs. I liked the idea of dishing out large, single hits associated with combo. It kinda got ruined with Raging Blow and everything else that made the combo-based finishers basically meaningless, but I've stuck with my Hero through all the changes, all the new classes coming out, all the ups and downs, and I won't be abandoning him anytime soon. I still like being the warrior who is...well, the basic, direct, hard-hitting class that it is.
I kind of looked around Basil and got an idea of what classes people thought were "fun" or "original." Back then, it seemed like people were all about the pre-revamp buccaneers (who used mainly dragonstrike and combos), shadowers, and marksmen, so I started them all. After getting to level 100-120 with quite a few characters, I picked the one or two that made me the most happy, and have stuck with my marksman and bishop (I love helping people!) for quite a while now.
I also tend to only main explorers since they can share cash shop, and that is really important to me.
I love thieves and their mobility, so I went with CB and it was my main for a while, but now after playing a lot of RPGs and MOBAs, i've fallen in love with DoT, so Fire/Poison mage has me captivated and I don't think im going to switch anytime soon
It took me forever to level in the beginning so I didn't want it to go to waste.
