South Asia, but again that's moot. Most do not call themselves "Asian" they go by Indian, or in Canada Indo-Canadian. Neither term is connected to south asia.
And as the person I quoted also, most Indians I know DO NOT go by asian. They call themselves Indo-Canadians or simply Indians.
In the USA, I'd wager they call themselves South Asians as in the USA, most people still call Native Americans by the mistaken term "Indian", hence the need to call themselves South Asian to distinguish the difference. In Canada, we don't have that error, as we do not called the Natives here Indian, only Natives or Aboriginals.
