In the market for a car

So I'm back in the market for a car. I've got 5k to spend.
I am looking for something sporty and fast, meaning when I hammer the gas, it goes.
I'm considering a 2002 firebird/camaro, 2003 mustang GT, 2003 celica, or a 2005 tiburon. I have driven a few firebirds and I really like how fast they accelerate. Dat power. Any suggestions or cars I don't have listed for consideration?
No civics.
From what I remember seeing, 2002ish (more often late 90s) camaros are more like 6-8k
I've been able to find a few on craigslist for a reasonable price.

Nah, I'm the guy who rockets off when it turns green if I'm the first car at the light.

Why so adamant for speed over reliability? It may seem tempting, but it may end up to be a waste of money for you later.
Anyways, a friend of mine bought his 5.0 for under a grand and rebuilt it for about $4,000 by himself. It is a beast. It pulls faster than the newer mustangs. We estimate its power to be at 400+.
Simply put, I have a 2003 "reliable" malibu now. Its not what I would describe as fun to drive. Im lookin for a car that when I get out, I want to get back in.
I can afford the insurance of 2 cars. Best buy pays well.
Mom died and I got 5k, with my job I have just under 6k. More than likely I will end up getting the Mustang or Camaro. I've looked at a few Eclipses and meh, its alright but the Mustang roar is just sexy.

$5,000 will give you a fast car. It would seem foolish to spend it for what you want. Is it your own money or your parents'?

$5,000 will give you a 5.0 mustang in good running condition. The older 5.0s have greater potential than its newer successors.
It will give you a Z28 Camaro too.

Or you could get a 240sx. You can find an 89' shell for under $500. You can find a good turbo'd engine and a good transmission [blacktop SR20 or RB25] for under $4,000. It won't give you as much power as you want, but it'll be a little more reliable than old v8s. And certainly better gas mileage.
If you're willing to get your hands dirty [which I don't think you are], you can really get the most bang for your buck.

Buy a 240sx with an engine already in it [stock]. It shouldn't cost you over $1,000.
Buy this rebuild kit.
That puts you up to $2,700. With the $1,300, buy the following used parts :

-Turbo header
-wastegate
-Garret t25 turbo try to get the best deal for this one, as you can rebuild it
- Gt25 rebuild kit
- Piping
- Front mount or side mounted Intercooler [source it from a junkyard]
- Contact JWT for your ECU tune ; it'll be like $300
- Find 8X lb injectors from junkyard; make sure they're side mounted; you'll find them on fc rx7s.
- Source an oil cooler
- Buy a used Z32 MAF
- Buy a Z32 fuel pump
-generic vacuum/boost gauges

Okay. So you build your engine yourself. The KA is simple.. very simple. You just need the tools. Go to kragens and rent their stuff.
Break your engine in and install the turbo kit after 1,000 miles.
Voila.

It can cost you a little more than $5,000 or a little less than $5,000 depending on how cheaply you find the parts. It'll hold 300 hp reliably. Your turbo... will probably explode.
