[header]General MapleStory FAQ[/header]

Q1. What class should I play/make?
A1. Whatever you want. You know what you like better than anyone else. It's better to do your own research and experiment to find a class that fits you than to ask for second-hand experience.

Q2. I haven't played for __ days/months/years. What did I miss, and is it worth coming back?
A2. The What Came When guidewill fill you in on everything you missed since you stopped playing. And no, it is not worth coming back.

Q3. Should I quit MapleStory?
A3. Yes. Definitely.

Q4. Does anyone miss the old MapleStory?
A4. Yes and no. The people here are the vocal minority. Most players (the silent majority) don't post their opinions on forums (and probably don't care that much anyway). Here, you'll always find people who loved the old MS, and people who hated it. Different people have different experiences, hence the varying opinions.

Q5. I never experienced the old MS. Did it suck?
A5. Again, it depends on who you ask. The general consensus is the old community was slightly better. Some people argue adamantly that the community was terrible from the get-go. (If you must know: based on my experiences, the old community was friendlier.)

Q6. What's one thing you remember from the old MS?
A6. Everything you can possible imagine has already been listed here.

Q7. Why is MapleStory such a bad game?
A7. Because it's managed by Nexon, a company that undervalues its players, and cares far too much about making money.

Q8. Why is Nexon a bad company?
A8. Because: they're greedy; they generally have terrible customer service; they cherry-pick; they encourage minors to gamble (and make most of their revenue off that); they're known to be dishonest about issues; they're terrible at communicating with their players; they don't know their own game very well; they don't put enough effort into banning people who deserve to be banned. This is not a complete list.

Q9. Hasn't Nexon been improving lately?
A9. Sort of. Server checks and updates generally run more smoothly now, and they're quicker at cracking down on and fixing exploits/bugs. It's a start, and they still have a long way to go.

Q10. Why do people complain so much about Nexon? This game is free to play, and they're really ungrateful.
A10. Free-to-play is a deceptive concept, because time is money. Everyone, at the minimum, everyone invests time this game. Nexon has generally been a terrible company, and whether you're a paying customer or not, the disapproval is justified. (Why is Nexon a bad company? See Q2.)

Q11. Who here misses Wizet?
A11. The ignorant. Wizet never left. Wizet's a subsidiary of Nexon, and they still develop things. (Though it is evident there was a time when Wizet put content over making money; there was a definite change in philosophy somewhere down the line.)

Q12. I'm losing motivation/getting bored of MapleStory. What should I do?
A12. Take a break from grinding. Hang out with friends. Do (jump) quests. Level up your professions. If you feel there's nothing left for you to enjoy, take an indefinite break. Come back only when you feel like the game has something to offer again (which may be never).

Q13. What makes the Global MapleStory (North American) so disappointing compared to Korean MapleStory?
A13. It's a fact that the American fanbase is more difficult to satisfy. A lot of people are under the impression that KMS is miles ahead of GMS. That's an exaggeration. It's largely the same game, and the customer service there really isn't any better than it is here. Minor but notable differences include: KMS having less bugs in general (though the localization process probably isn't as easy as we like to believe, so it's understandable), and Nexon of America being slightly more greedy (e.g. KMS has exclusive cash shop inventories because their NX items have always mostly been permanent and they rely on the exclusive CS to turn in a profit with new classes; GMS has no reason to have an exclusive CS - it's just a slap in the face to its most loyal players; there are many event-related examples where KMS has been more generous at giving than GMS).

Edit: errors fixed.

@AznViper I made the effort not to include subjective negativity. The few exceptions in there aren't serious answers, and are meant to help the indecisive come to their own conclusion on whether they should quit/return.

@DoesNotMatter Are you encouraging me to add a warning for new players? "Play this game at your own risk. Once you're in, you'll almost never get out!"

Like i said before on all these quit maple threads,
Qutting MS is like attempting to escape alcatraz: Very few make it out alive, the rest remain there 'till death~!

Why are all the questions so negative to MapleStory and Nexon?
They don't suck that much.

Question answered! (And thank you for not labeling me a hater.)

@christer2 I'm sorry that you're interpreting this topic that way. I tried to be as objective as possible without sounding like a complete robot, and assumed some intelligence from readers (which may have been a mistake, as evidenced by the hate towards it).

You guys think this is a hate topic? I am offended! Would it help if I moved some of the first few questions down on the list? (The purpose of this topic really is to deter some of the frequently asked questions here).

To sum it up, we have nothing better to do so we play Maple.

@StewieFg411 If you like the game, then you're not thinking about quitting, so Q6 is irrelevant to you.

@StewieFg411 Thanks for your input. Certain answers are the way they are for a reason (I can explain my reasoning for upon request, given that you specify the answers you're curious about).

And yes, you can quit this game. Anyone who struggles to do so would be laughed out of their country by people who have quit things that are actually difficult to quit (e.g. smoking).
