Would you all mind looking at this objectively? Prepare for an essay, and if you're not going to pull a TL/DR on me feel free to respond. I wanna see opinions on this. Perhaps I should make a separate thread for it as well.

The way I see it, there are 3 forms of gameplay, most of which are class-specific.

1) Mage-style training. This includes but is not limited to sniping with Explosion/Ice Strike/Whatever, as well as poison mist training (of which I am a fan). Arrow Rain/Eruption training also falls into this category.

2) Warrior-style training. Quick kills, but they take work. Very satisfying damage to be seen with these bad boys. Arans fit into this category, as do knuckler-Pirates and Bandits/Dual Blades (Dual blades' mobility makes them a very special case)

3) Ranged-style training. Typically a combo of the above two in some fashion. Used to be a lot like Mage training, but now is often like a more versatile version of warrior training with the elimination of sniping higher levels (such as training pre-100 archers/gunners at Newts, I hated you people) and the lack of a minimum range, both due to BB. Assassins used to have a hard time with this type of training due to accuracy requirements preventing them from going to Newties the way bow/gun users did.

Corsairs are #3. Period. I personally was never a huge fan of that style because it entails spamming the same three or four attacks repeatedly, and having to use a different macro for each one. I have a gunner, but I'm not looking forward to training it. Ranged classes tend to be built best for bossing, and oh hell yes do they do it well. That much I can guarantee will be extremely fun. I love me some bossing, myself. Corsairs are best for it, hands down.

Arans are inexorably #2. However, they differ from typical warriors in play style mostly due to their inability to spam the same attack twenty times in a row. Their one weakness is having to start out their attacks with the weakest one in their arsenal--the basic attack. All of their attacks can and must be routed through the attack and arrow keys, and in some cases this requires good timing with the fingers. Thus, this one important factor exists for pro Aran users and no others: skill.

Arans are built for the craziest mobbing in the game. With every monster added to their mob, the damage on each individual hit goes down but the total damage on the entire mob skyrockets. For instance, mobbing two monsters increases total damage by roughly 40%. Mobbing 12 at once (a rather rare opportunity, I admit) will bring the figure over 400% total damage. It is extremely satisfying to pull off. Regardless, Arans are perfectly capable of doing respectable damage on bosses; that's for certain.

Until BB, Arans actually had one thing that warriors unanimously lacked: a critical system, and a somewhat overpowered one at that (I noticed that it added waayyyyyy too much damage before BB, and I think it still sort of does).

With regard to the play style, I personally prefer Arans for this reason. I get a much greater sense of fulfillment with every kill I get.

By the way, HP helps. Arans have more of it.

Aran is like playing Tekken with SMASH SMASH.
Corsair is like playing Tekken with actual combos.
