Fan-made Gigantic Maplestory Overhaul Revamp Everything

Giant Maple Re-Imagination!

Note: I am WELL AWARE of Nexon Korea's recent changes to the game that includes some of the content presented here. Please keep in mind that I have been working on this revamp for MONTHS. I was working on this revamp shortly after Maplestory unlimited was revealed in KMS. Please keep this in mind that it's purely coincidence that many of these changes are now being implemented into the actual game (including level cap increase, Cygnus knight revamp, meso increase, ect).
With all of that said, please also keep in mind that I had Maplestory Unlimited in mind when making this revamp and borrow heavily from it, especially in the boss changes area. I make notes throughout, where applicable, when I include the changes from that update.

Thank you, and please read with an open mind.

[header]Formula Changes[/header]

I rather like the some of the Maplestory unlimited changes, so I include them. This includes:
-max damage range: 2,000,000
-damage cap: 50,000,000
-max hp//mp: 500,000
-boss changes to hp/def and damage
-ect.

Damage formula:
New minimum range is calculated as (mastery*max + 4*secondary stat), min is not > 0.95*max.

Secondly, both magic damage range and melee damage range will be displayed separately:

-Physical damage range is calculated based on the weapon equipped determiningg the main and secondary stat, with wands, staves, and rods based on str and dex.

-Magic damage range will always be calculated based on Int as main stat, Luk as secondary and magic attack, regardless of weapon equipped.

-the weapon multiplier for several weapons have been changed:

Wand: 1.00 --> 1.08
Staff: 1.00 --> 1.08
Shining Rod: 1.00 --> 1.10
Knuckler: 1.70 --> 1.65
1h sword/axe/mace: 1.20 --> 1.23
2h axe: 1.32 --> 1.36
2h BW: 1.32 --> 1.36
Bow: 1.30 --> 1.33
Crossbow: 1.35 --> 1.37
Dual Bowguns: 1.30 --> 1.35
Cane: 1.30 --> 1.35

Accuracy Formula:

Level no longer determines accuracy.

Monster avoid is increased significantly so as to be linear with player accuracy, roughly, by level, with scaling in the higher levels to add difficulty and variety to class strengths and weaknesses. Bosses have significantly higher avoid.
ie: a level 80 player would normally have about 400 accuracy, so a mob of that level will have about 400 avoid.

The hit rate would thus be calculated as: 100 - [monster avoid - player acc]/[monster avoid] * 100% = miss rate. Therefore, if the player had 800 accuracy and the mob had 900 avoid, the missrate would be 12.5%

AP bonuses:
Str gives 0.5 weapon accuracy
Dex gives 3 weapon accuracy
Int gives 3 magic accuracy
Luk gives 1.5 of each weapon and magic accuracy

Avoid Formula:

-Your avoid rate is capped at 90%.
-Monster Accuracy has been significantly increased.

Hit Rate on the player is calculated as: 100 - [player avoid monster acc]/[player avoid] * 100%

Defense Formula:

Damage is no longer calculated based on monster levels compared to player levels:
Damage is calculated as follows:

[mob_attack] - [player_def] = max damage taken.

AP no longer affects def or magic def.

Additionally, you may only block a maximum of 90% of enemy damage through skills such as invincible, power guard, ect.

Mastery Changes:

Mastery is no longer a traditional skill (usually in 2nd job), but is now a growth-type skill in the beginner skill book. Clicking the skill in the beginner tab will bring up the weapon mastery UI. Each weapon type will be listed (with recommended weapons appearing at top).
Each weapon type has its own mastery skill and they all start at level 0. Master level is level 50. When equipped with a given weapon, gaining experience with said weapon will increase the skill level, much like reverse equipment. Note that these bonuses only apply when using the related weapon.

Level 1-10:
+5% weapon mastery
+1 attack/magic attack

Level 11-20:
+1 attack/magic attack
+1% total damage

Level 21-30:
+2 attack/magic attack
+1% total damage

Level 31-40:
+3 attack/magic attack
+1% total damage
ignore additional 0.5% of monsters' def

Level 41-50
+5 attack/magic attack
+1% total damage
ignore additional 1% of monsters' def
+1% minimum and maximum critical damage
+1% damage to bosses

The exp to level will follow the formula: n = (n-1)*1.25 where n is the experience needed to level and n-1 is the previous level's exp needed to level, and the first level would require 100,000 exp.

Therefore total exp to level mastery to level 50 would be slightly over 7,000,000,000

and the bonuses applied would be in total: +50% mastery, +40% damage, +120 attack/magic attack, +15% critical damage, +15% PDR ignore, and +10% additional damage on bosses.

[header]Equipment Changes:[/header]

(Though I said I would not include many updates from KMS, I do rather like the additional options system and would include it.)

(With some exceptions, like the time traveler's laurel not being affected by the accuracy increase) and with exception to gear 130 and above in regards to str/dex/int/luk increases and hp/mp increases:

-All items' defense stats are increased by 3x.
-All items' accuracy and avoid stats are increased by 20x.
-All items' HP and MP values are increased by 20x
-All item's Str/Dex/Int/Luk values are increased by 3x.
-All items of the same "type" and level at 60 and above have set bonuses. For example, for equipping all the level 80 warrior gear (glove, hat, shoes, overall, weapon): +8 all stats, +4 attack/magic attack, +800 hp/mp, +400 def/magic def, +100 accuracy/avoid

Higher level gear gives higher bonuses.

Crafting System Changes:

-The drop rate of all recipes has been increased.
-The abnormally high drop rate of shoulderpad recipes has been decreased.
-All alchemy recipes are now permanent and are not time-limited or consumed upon crafting.
-Alchemists can now use magic powders to recolor armors and weapons.
-All items crafted now come with hidden potential at a 100% rate.

-Success rate of harvesting golden flowers and heartstones have been increased. (roughly 10% success with level 10 mining/Herbalism) Additionally, gold flowers and heartstones now respawn every 3 hours.

Essences:
-You can now increase the likelihood of additional options by using "essences." There are 3 ranks of essences: common, rare, and superior.

Common essences have an 80% chance to add low rank additional options to crafted equipment.
Rare essences have an 50% chance to add intermediate rank additional options to crafted equipment.
Superior essences have a 25% chance to add high rank additional options to crafted equipment.

Item crafting fails (and all materials are lost) if the essence fails.

-Common essences can be bought from Nack in Ardentmill for 100,000 mesos each.
-Rare essences are crafted by combining 500 ect drops of monsters level 100 and above.
-Superior essences are crafted by combining 2000 ect drops of monsters level 150 and above. They also drop from bosses at a low rate.

New Crafting Profession: Calligraphy
-Learn from new NPC, Mu Sung, in Ardentmill. Requires Herbalism learned.
-Calligraphers can use blank scrolls (purchased from nack for 50,000 mesos each), item crystals and various flower and seed oils to craft scrolls.
-In addition to the regular 10, 60, and 100% armor and weapon scrolls that are dropped from monsters, you may also craft special, calligraphy-exclusive scrolls:

-A New Area has been added: Teknetik City

Required Level: 200. Prerequisites: Complete the Neo City questline.
Andy in Tera Forest has a new mission for you: take his time diver back to his own time to have it repaired. Unfortunately, the broken time driver causes a rip in time and flings you 5,000 years into the future with no way back!
However, the citizens of the flourishing society of the future have perfected the science of time travel. With their help, you can freely come and go between the present and the future with your own personal Temporal Field Generator. (Andy will be so jealous!)

You may want to stick around a little longer, though. The future is rich with new technology that can help you become stronger! Combat androids can be enhanced at the research institute. Android gear drives are durability equips that must be repaired in Teketik City's Android Shop.

-In the future, mesos are useless. If you want to buy anything from the various shops, you'll need to load up on Bits, the currency of the future. Store them on your Credit Chip. Up to 1 billion bits can be stored on your Chip.
-Earn bits by participating in quests from NPCs in the future.

-Combat Research: Talk to the researcher in Teknetik City's Technology Institute to participate. She will send you to a special map containing a combat dummy. The dummy will not move or attack and has no defenses. You will have 1 minute to deal as much damage as possible to the dummy. Your damage will be recorded. You will earn exp and bits based on the amount of damage you've done. Try to beat your high score! You can help the researcher once per day.
-Virus Removal: Even the technology of the future has viruses! Talk to the researcher to help her clear out the bugs in the city's firewall servers. You will be digitized and sent in to directly attack the viruses. You may enter in a party of up to 6. You will have 10 mins to defeat as many viruses and bugs as you can. Exp and bits are earned based on the number of viruses defeated. You may help the researcher 5 times per day.
-Extreme Combat Research: In this mode of combat research, you must fight an experimental security program. You will be digitized to fight it. Deal as much damage to the program as possible while defending against its attacks. You will have 5 mins. If you die, the test will end. The Security Program cannot be killed. You will earn much greater amounts of bits and exp than regular Combat Research mode. If you manage to survive the full 5 mins, you will receive a bonus.

The winner may only claim their prize on the character that bought the entry ticket. Winners will be announced by a server message at the end of the week (12 am PST Sunday Mornings). Entries to the lottery close at 9 pm PST the preceding Saturday.

[header]Conclusion[/header]

My goal with this was to have fun and try to balance classes and content to be more fair for everyone while still maintaining distinct and interesting classes with an advantage for those willing to spend more time or money on the game (but not to the extent it is now).
This took MONTHS of effort and lost sleep. I worked extremely hard on this revamp, and I hope it shows.

Ninth time submitting this to change swear filter false positives. Fix it, Basil.
@LittleTLK: so the point of this is simply to let the MM have a taste of PA before 4th job?
The point was to diversity rangers and snipers. They're simply too much alike and I wanted to make them distinct from one another.

Blizzard isn't the main mobbing skill. Look at the passives for Snipe.
I figured marksmen would be upset.

Simple fact is: snipe spam is OP'd as it is. You still get it, but it's weaker than US spam unless you're not transformed as Blue Eagle.
I'm sure it's more to do with the Blizzard being the new main mobbing skill. Or drastic changes, in general.

Hyper Snipe isn't OP, just powerful. But I'm also sure no one cares if it's removed. Especially not @crossbowMS.

Anyhoo, I'm just semi-bumping because this thread needs the attention it deserves.

One of the best ideas ever.

This:

-Blast - Damage increased to 1350%. Number of attacks reduced to 1.

My alltime dream and you wrote it down. I love your ideas.
Sadly no Hyperskills for paladins apparently haha. was curious about that aswell.

This was a nice read and seems like you put a lot of effort in it.
All in all i'd say I agree with at least 70% of all this and that's quite a bit.
Nice job!

And everyone who says tldr... Just get out.
I might not have made it clear, but if I didn't list hyper skills, I didn't change them. For paladins, you get the hyper skills that you get here shortly:

blast, threaten and heaven's hammer as P skills and sacrosanct, ect as A.

@twopointonefour:

That skill increases your MAX speed, not just your speed. You move even faster, basically, and get more %avoid.
The mobbing-push skill is useful for mob gathering. Maybe you don't utilize that kind of thing when training though.

I would make damage cap 500k (or any other reasonable number you can think of) per 100% damage up to 2000% (3000% w/crit) and I would make those skills that started to deal multiple hits becasue of cap hit less times or even just once but stronger for this reason.
Your max damage is completly dependant on skills % damage, like a 70% skill will not deal more than 350k and a 280% won't deal more than 1.4m damage.

Whats the point of giving archers a mob attack that pushes monsters away when there is NO minimum range with any skill? Waste of sp.

Also a 4th job that also increases speed? .. wait thats a first job skill isn't it? Why not just add the extra effect you added to Archer Mastery? Speed isn't hard to get.

How would they manage to hire voice actors for everyone omg
So many classes and branches to voice
And how do you voice a beginner

"Snail Shell! GO!"
"Nimble feet!"
They wouldn't need to hire anyone. I'm 90% certain they just used voices of people around the office for the voices they did for the other classes.

This was actually a last minute addition as a bit of a joke. I was skyping with some friends and could hear his angelic buster screaming "CELESTIAL ROAR!" We joked about the possibility of Nexon giving voices to all the classes just to piss people off. XD
Gunslinger Damage Formula? What's that?

And your character card didn't change. If I didn't list it, it wasn't changed.

I gave you guys back battleship because right now, your class is literally a bowmaster clone with lower survivability.

The last paragraph in my OP should clarify why I did it: I wanted to diversify the classes to give each a unique feel and playstyle. And I don't think battleship was outdated. I think they just solved the problem of it being slow by removing it and focusing on rapid fire.

The battleship I gave corsairs is faster (moves at 190 speed) and has a flash-jump and gives better survivability than the old one.

@ksmech:

What?
Tell you the truth i forgot the formula not sure if it was 1.00 or something like that.

yes battleship is unique but what made it bad was the movement(which i can tell you made faster) but being on that ship and spamming one skill gets extremely boring.I love my ship dont get me wrong but still hoping on and off was its con after awhile. Now we're far more mobile and stronger but our survivability is a major issue with us right now.The class is still unique,only one skill is bowmaster like and thats RF which they've always had since even before the revamp. Most Corsairs im sure will agree that the new revamped sair is better just lacks(will always lack sadly) is survivability.

The passive effects of elemental crash are the same as ACB, which means you keep the mastery.

The point of the skill change was to give paladins a bit more "fun" in their training style. You could knock enemies into the air with upper cut, then slam them back down with 50% more damage with crash.

@Aspertia:

I changed dash-n-slash to be a rush-like skill. So you charge forward pushing a group of mobs with it, then crunch down on them or swipe them.
900% on final blow isnt even close to 842%*4 and with tempest only dealing one hit at 3000% means that it is weaker cause its 740%*4 and final toss would be completely useless at high levels since bosses and boss monsters cant be launched up
Then it's a mistake on my part due to lack of information. Skill tables are hard to find.

It's supposed to be 900% x 4 then, not just 1 hit, I apologize.

And 3000 > 740*4.

Also, have you ever considered that maybe you should use your OTHER skills other than final toss on bosses? Just saying.
Lol, the potential tier is way too much
I don't think so.

It's coming one way or another. Like I said before, there are already "special" tier items in the game: any of the dojo gloves, and yes, the outline is pink.

And maybe I didn't put it in (I forget, there's so much) but I made items that are dropped or crafted have up to Special Tier on reveal (albeit a low rate).

@JVI4pleStorm:

Final Toss was given a 2 second cooldown because you guys look stupid as hell spamming it. You're not supposed to use it that way.
And I INCREASED the damage of final blow to match the fact that it's 1 hit. (or at least I think I did, that was the intention).

Arans actually get somewhat BUFFED in this revamp. No class in this revamp is weaker in this revamp than they are now except Kaiser, and I gave them buffs, too.

And did you even read the skill %s? Combo Tempest is 3000%.

Reply January 26, 2013 - edited
JVI4pleStorm

Good stuff but you just nerfed Arans A LOT
Final toss with 2 sec. cooldown means that low funded Arans loose their main attacking skill at places like lhc and against bosses until 170 + If final bl0w is reduced to one hit, Aran damage output is decreased by 3 hits and if tempest is only 1 hit, combo unlimited becomes pretty useless. </3

I can't say I agree with everything, but I do like a lot of the stuff you mentioned. I'm amazed how you addressed the itty bitty details that really make a big difference. A few things I liked most about this are :
-Ability to create clean slates
-Increase drop rate for clean slates (hehe)
-2x exp from PQs
-Skill link for other classes

Although the explorer archer skill links sucks...and don't remove Wild Hunter's blind.
Can't say I love most of the skill changes, but I like where it's heading.

+1 like.
@LittleTLK: true but apart from that why lower all hits to mostly one?
To make more sense with the skill animation, though I do break it a few times out of necessity, like Demon Slayer's Skills and a few skills here and there.
The damage increase makes up for the reduction in number of hits.

Now try submitting it to Nexon through their "Feedback / suggestions" Ticket.

Read a bit more of it. Nice thinking.

It was a bit too much compared to their damage %s.
Besides, I more than made up for it with skill changes, including giving you back transform.
Oh, and you're not at the bottom of the DPM charts. Don't act like you are.

I have a bucc myself.
