does it matter which memory slots I choose to insert? I have 2 memory sticks and they're the same, they only fits in the blue slots, the one in the most left hand side was there initially, so I inserted the other stick into the next closest blue slot.. idk man is that ok or whats good

my motherboard is ASUS model: P9X79 LE:

Try putting the second RAM module in the C1 slot. It might not be the recommended configuration but it may work.

If that doesn't work, take a close look at the fan. Instead of removing the complete heatsink and fan unit (which messes around with the CPU chip and thermal transfer medium... something you want to avoid if at all possible), see if there are 4 mounting screws in the corners of the fan. If there are, you can probably just remove those 4 screws and lift the fan off the heatsink to let you remove the RAM module.
The manual for your motherboard is here: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA2011/P9X79-LE/E8'_P9X79_LE.pdf
You should download this and save it on your computer for future reference.
It tells exactly what you're asking.

According to the manual, the recommended way to install 2 RAM modules is to put them in memory slots "B1" and "D1".
B1 is the second blue slot from the left.
D1 is the third blue slot from the left.
(There's a picture in the manual showing exactly what slots they're talking about, page 2.2.3)

Not sure why you said the RAM module wouldn't fit in the black slots because the motherboard uses DDR3 RAM and it should fit in ANY slot.
But anyway, normally you use all four slots of one color, in this case blue, before you use the other color.
Almost impossible to tell from the picture, but generally you want to fill the innermost DIMMs first. Why the hell did you buy a mobo with 8 DIMMs for RAM? What could have possibly compelled you to do such a thing?

Isn't there certain kinds of RAM that fit in certain kinds of motherboards with that certain kind of RAM slot? D:
