Why does Basil Chat section seem boring these days?
So, why? There's so many troll threads, flame-war threads, and threads of the same topic over and over again. It has gotten quite boring.
-My friend agrees with me. Anyone else think the same, or would like to counter-argue? o3o

all the cool people left when mr.B got rid of custom avatars
I'm usually lurking and waiting for any thread I wanna post in, but every refresh is a let down these days.
Basil has been bumped down to my secondary forum recently, it's just not worth posting here anymore. The community as a whole is just declining, and even the debate threads (which I don't participate in) have been getting worse. Overall, Basil just sucks, and it isn't simply because of a lack of interesting threads.
edit: I believe one of the major culprits to be the "like" system, it's probably the most tasteless but simple way to misguide opinions.
Activity has definitely died down, and I have noticed there have been less and less interesting threads to read and comment on. Reading books and what not are at least a hobby that doesn't immediately get old.
Omg imgur lol. I think growing up has a lot to do with it. To me it seems like there's a skewed sense of community among the current active posters but it's absolutely NOTHING like it was back in 2007-2009. I can say back then Basil was a joy to use.
It was, but now that I don't even play maple, I've basically got all I could get out of this site.
Imgur seems a lot more fun, mature and friendly but I'm just gonna be a lurker
I have noticed less general activity, but honestly, besides the relevance of the things said compared to what things are actually popular at that time, I find it's basically the same stuff. I think as I get older all the immature things just seem more and more stupid.
Completely agree with the last part. Seems more and more of a waste to even lurk here. I probably lurk on imgur as much as basil now
Chat island is even more boring than General maple section.
I also hate how around this time, chat is all about going into High school or College. It's the same damn thread over and over again.
OT: Yeah, I don't post too much anymore. The threads aren't as appealing as they used to be.
too much mainstream stuffff
every old basilers are pretty much dead
lots of repetitive stuff
anyways
yup come and go
makes me wonder what the basil
awards for the year will be
what if, Best Basiler-guy who joined yesterday
It has died down a lot I've noticed.
I'd actually have to agree with the TS. Seems like the past few months have had way more pointless threads than usual and it's a struggle to find one that's actually interesting. And I'm sure this is overused like crazy, but religious topics are way more common than I've ever seen before. And the trolling nowadays is just stupid and forced. I'm sure part of it for me is just that I'm growing out of it, but as far as I've noticed, there are definite changes regarding the community.
I also noticed people are posting less than I remember. I went on a 2.5ish hour bike ride and when I came back, a thread that was locked when I left was still on the first page when I returned. Not sure if it the whole site since I only browse chat and site really, but this section at least is getting pretty dead.
older basilers left
Hope it doesn't turn into Sleepywood, that place died due to their overly strict mods.
...
What Sleepywood?
@ZombieOverlord: Yeah, I'm not too upset about it though. I lurk more than anything now, and I really don't even do that very often. I'm glad I quit modding when I did, before this site started dying out
@Bonjwa @spring786: It's all under mrbasil's direction. The mods do the work as strictly as mrbasil intended it to be done (is that even grammatically correct?)
Not saying mistakes don't happen, but the first person to blame is the actual maker of the rules. When it come down to it, mods are voluntary extensions of mrbasil's actions and don't really have much lenience in terms of... leniency.
@hoboqueen: my bad gurl
Watch out guys, his friend agrees with him.

It really has slowed down a lot. Not even close to as active as it use to be.
them pirates
It has literally always been that way. I swear, one of the most common threads is a thread on how threads are changing, usually pointing out the exact types of threads that have always run rampant on chat island.
Most of the fun basilers left. Only a few remain.
It's either about religion, gays, obvious news, pointless questions, or troll.
Chat section was never fun, it's honestly the worst forum I've ever partook in.

I so agree with you! <3
