Need a concise breakdown on updates since 0.55 please?

Hi guys,

So basically I haven't played seriously since 0.55 was out, and I've pretty much forgotten the game. There's been so many new, big releases that everybody always seems to complain about, but I don't know anything of what's happened recently. So, when in doubt, come to Basil.

I tried to google the major updates, but everything is completely foreign to me.

From what I remember, Pirates had come out and been released for a while, and Aran was out too. Wild Hunter I think was the next class that was going to come out (I played for a month when Galicia was released). Leafre was the most recent area, or a least it was the highest level area. There's so many ways to upgrade equipment now that I'm also stumped - when I had quit, it was 30%/70% scrolls, Chaos scrolls, and White scrolls.

Do people still PQ? I would love to come back and try out all the PQ's that I never got a chance to like Magatia PQ and I'm really nostalgic for some KPQing.

There's all these new classes, too. My favourite all-time class was the Bowmaster, but I quite liked Snipers and Bandits. Assassins were okay, but always too expensive to fund. Dexless bandits were really fun for what you could do around level 40 in Ludi PQ with Alishar.

So yeah, I want to play again, specifically on Broa because my 2006 event item is there and I want to show it off. What are the bare bones that I need to know to be able to play the game again?

Stuff I'm looking for is maybe just the names of the major updates, like new ways to upgrade equipment, the name of the new experience curve so I can read about it, new areas and zones, the extents to which people still do all the social stuff like PQ (nobody used to do PPQ back in the day because the prizes were bad, is it still the same? Is Ludibrium PQ still dead, too?). What about guilds? Is GoonSquad still around in Broa? What about new Maple Weapons? Have skills been majorly revamped particularly for the Bowmaster classes? Does everybody still want SE, and is it still an absolute pain to get from Pianus? Do BM's suck nowadays? And are there any new classes which I absolutely HAVE to try?

Thanks for the clear breakdowns guys - you're helping an oldie just-post beta player get back into the swing of things. Or try to, anyway.

Such a ninja Jeffie.

BMs got significantly buffed... but almost any class does better. The classes that now have Hurricane-esque skills now (Wild Hunters, Mechanics -yes, there's a class named that-, Mercedes -and yes, there's a class named that-, Phantoms, the newly-revamped Corsairs, and Jetts) do tons better.

We got the Big Bang update, and with that came a new area called Edelstein and a new class branch called the Resistance. Its archer is the Wild Hunter, its mage is called the Battle Mage, and its pirate is called the Mechanic.

New heroes, akin to Arans, have come out as well: Mercedes the archer, and Phantom the Thief, and Evan the Mage.

Other classes that have come out are the Dual Blade, Cannon Shooter, and Demon Slayer.

You can currently make a class named Jett. It basically plays like an adventurer pirate, and comes with a power-up called a link skill at lvl 70. It's highly recommended you do this. Same goes with the Cannon Shooter for the link skill aspect at lvl 70.

Cygnus Knights also give a buff to everyone in the world you're playing in, so make one of those too. A Thunder Breaker is best for you because of its new gameplay.

PQs are mostly for leveling purposes only. The social aspect of the game has completely deteriorated.

Zakum can be solo'd in 30 seconds. Pink Bean can be solo'd in 20 minutes. Horntail can be solo'd in 10 minutes.

Chaos versions of Zak and HT have come out. those have been solo'd as well.

Cygnus Empress also has come out with a new area called Gate to the Future, and wasn't solo-able for the longest time due to a "glitch" Nexon implemented. This "glitch" has been lifted and now Empress has been solo'd as well.

A new area called Azwan has come out as well. It comes with a "PQ" of sorts, and a boss named Hilla, who comes in Normal and Hard modes. Normal Hilla is easily solo'd. Hard Hilla has been solo'd as well, but is extremely difficult due to its many tricks.

DBs have gotten revamped drastically this month. Furthermore, you get free mastery books for getting up to lvl 80(?), which is extremely easy to do IMO. Do this as well.

There's a timeline of things here.

Best way to catch up is to probably check out the major updates through Spadowand Orange Mushroom'sblogs. Spadow has all the main updates down the right of the page, and when he decided to stop blogging, OrangeMushroom pretty much took over where he left off, but you'll have to use the calendar on his page to get further back the quickest.
hmm, well aran only came out 2 years ago, when 4th job came out it was 0.55 which was 2008 :. Chaos came out waaaay after 0.55 im pretty sure they were around in 2009. And as for Broa?, Well the bigfoot police are gone (afaik) and that's pretty much all i know about broa :. Otherwise, yeah the updates huh, 0.55 4th job, .7x? pirates, 0.83 or something i forgot was something else cygnus knights, then evan and aran came out the next year with wild hunter i think. (Potential also came out in 2010 which broke damage, now low damage is quite broad now) And yeah they revamped pq's so it gives decent exp, but the low level ones arent even to bother with, lpq is 50+ now and romeo and juliet pq is actually decent as well. Otherwise some new training areas (Timeless temple, future henesys, lion heart[party play area] and knights stronghold [party play]), people now solo zak in like 20-30 seconds etc and pink bean is weak poop etc
Exactly what I wanted.

Yeah I played briefly when Galicia came out which was like in 0.82 or 0.83? So I found out a little bit but not a lot.

And wtf, people can kill Zakum in 30 seconds? Solo? It used to take 5 hours to solo it for my Sader mate and he was good...

Is the game social around PQing now because that's what I would enjoy most about the game now. I'm not all about hitting high numbers, just about being able to get into parties and meeting some cool, mature people.

My biggest desire for these games is to go and start on a new server and be in the fore-runners who have to go and kill Scarlion first and gear up before they can go and kill the next boss. Do people cumulatively work as teams now to progress, or is it all about getting your OP friends to come and do it for you? I really dislike that because I think it ruins the game a little. Any insight on this kinda stuff?

The intense Ludi PQ battles when you had 6x Lv <40's were definately the funnest part of the game, because the cleric could hardly heal, and everyone was missing Alishar, but after 10 minutes and being swamped completely by Chronos, you eventually managed to kill him and it was the biggest triumph ever. I'm after that sort of gameplay - not aggressive Mr Speigelmann PQing where it's always so competitive.

If you'd stop asking 2008/2009 questions (such as PB released, and BF being "hell&quot, maybe I would give you the link to the list of GMS updates.

Just a breakdown of the important stuff. I don't need every update

Stuff relating to bowmasters and the social aspect of the game, and Broa related stuff particularly.

Edit: No, now that I think about it, Pink Bean had come out. Has anyone killed it yet?

Also, is New Leaf City still a joke of a town? Before half the stuff didn't do anything, and Bigfoot was the glitchiest boss ever, and the storyline made no sense.

Potential on items: an extra way to boost your attacks and stats.
Nebulites: also potential on items, but you place a gem (nebulite) on the item
Bowmasters are decent.
