Laptop or Desktop

Well, my desktop is failing me again and my laptop is getting old (What, 5 years old?) and it's very, very, slow ever since I dropped it down a flight of stairs not too long ago.

The desktop will be a $671 desktop, custom built.

I think I can skim on a few parts by taking some out of my old one, but not much. Just the case and maybe the fans?

The laptop would be a bit more expensive, around $700 I'm guessing, but I can't get it immediately. I'm thinking around next year Black Friday when they polished up Windows 8 a bit. Of course it won't be AS powerful, but I'll see what I can do I guess. The upsides is that this option is portable which is very, very, useful.
Something like this I guess, http://www.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/ultrabooks-home?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=mn.
I can't find the exact one atm.

That Rosewill Stallion is a poor Solytech's unit. Switch over to the Corsair CX430v3 (the Bronze efficiency unit) in that same price range.
Or better yet, the XFX Core Edition 450w: http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=63238&promoid=1257

I would also recommend the HD 7770 in that price range.

The motherboard already comes with two black SATA cables for your ODD and HDD. You don't need to buy two more.

If you are not going to buy a laptop until 1 year later, it would be a better idea to look at what they have to offer then.
