Let me tell you where MapleStory will be in 10 years

Level cap will be increased 2 more times, it will sit at 250 for a while, than they will make it 300, and a while after it will be 350 and the cycle will have become too repetitive for continuation. At this point 3d-MapleStory2 will have already been released, made its fair share of sales and shortly dead like the spin-off it will be. By the time they raise the level cap a third time their outlook will be dim and bland, profits and popularity will start too slip. They already are lasting off a dedicated player base rather an ever changing one, not attracting new players.

At this point is when Nexon will be forced to modernize their biggest money maker and make it a playable game for general video game fans, not just too appeal to MMOrpg players. Nexon will heavily fund and release "Finalized-MS" (we are playing a blueprint/sandbox mode of the game right now) too a console as a 3rd party game. Everyone (who doesnt play PC/isn't biased as hell) knows PC-gaming is going to fade shortly - consoles surpass the gaming capabilities of any home computer, in 20 years the only people involved in PC-gaming will be the die-hards. The Finalized edition would of course be modernized containing a playable chronological story available in offline or online, no useless quests/npcs and sensible means of progression. The current game will not keep up with other gaming competition.

Im certain they will keep classicMS online for a short while after the console release, but the focus of Nexon will than be preparing the sequel to Finalized-MS rather than pointless updates to the blueprint. After the player-base moves to the much improved console series the blueprint will be a memory.

Enjoy the blueprint and heed my crystal ball.

What do you mean console gaming is less superior then pc gaming? What are you smoking? You can make a pc with specs that makes the consoles look like a potato.

Liar, your Crystal Ball must not be working properly. I traveled 10 years into the future on my Time Machine and I saw otherwise. It's a secret though, I can't tell.

Pictures like that prove my point they just cant continue the cycle forever they're going to have to adapt to the industry.

10 years is a lot of time in terms of techology advancements. I don't think there will be people playing these kinds of games anymore. Just look at the oculus rift, it's the first product to get virtual reality right and it will be released in 2014. By the time it's 2023 that kind of stuff will be perfected. Unless ofcouse nexon decides to utulize that kind of technology.

@abv, im usually generous with walls-o-text and read the 1st line
Those 10 years were fixated on development of the fundamentals. Now that their essentially done with that......

Whether it be nerfs or level cap raises or damage limit raises there is no way in hell these game mechanics continue to thrive into 2020s there are so many better quality games for kids, and older gamers, to play and invest into.

o.o my crystal ball doesn't show the same thing...

OT: i doubt the level cap will increase twice. if anything, it will at most increase once, and after that they will probably have another exp nerf to make achieving 300 much easier. what you said about console gaming might very well be true.. but it would have to depend on which console we are talking about. with the current gaming consoles we have, i doubt maplestory could be integrated well with them.
