Why do we work

Just curious, the obvious answer job=money, and with money we can support ourselves and our family, and save up the rest or spend them on what makes us happy.

Now, are we supposed to put passion into our jobs? Or is it merely a way to make our lives better?

I wonder how many people hate their jobs but they work anyways with hope that they can use that money to buy stuff to please them, is that how it supposed to work?

Leave your thoughts.

Imagine suffering from poverty then you will probably understand.

When job = money -> you are surviving; when job = passion + money -> you are living.

Half way through college, no idea what to do, and my advisor is stalking me because I have to declare my major </3 I am probably going to be one of those people who are "surviving" instead of "living" their life </3
You are supposed to get a job you don't hate

I think he nailed it on the head, even if you find a job you do like, the necessary routine of it will eventually drain most of the happiness you can get from it. You just have to bear with it and look forward to other things that your job allows you to do.

I wouldn't see a job as sucky. That mindset would have me depressed as hell.

True, so the trick is finding something at least interesting.

Let's be honest- anyone who actually enjoys work more than being with their kids likely has their priorities wrong. Work should never be the true love of one's life. So the best we can do it try to find something at least interesting and semi-enjoyable- not a dead-end monotonous job.

It's not easy to find something enjoyable, but that's why we work hard in school so we have ample opportunities later in life.
Well, for me personally, my major is management and I'm only freshman in college. I don't know what I'm gonna do with BBA once I'm out 4 years later, but probably start low by working for Publix or CVS, and slightly move up.

For the money I make, I would save up as much as possible, for purposes I'm not yet certain, but perhaps use a small portion of it to fund my passion which is parkour, I don't know, maybe creating a parkour clan? Lol.
Sounds like a good plan. I'm considering saving money after I work as well.

@zoneflare2 I don't think anyone would want to work at 7-eleven forever unless they don't want to put in the effort (go to college and get a degree). It's kind of like In N Out Burger in California they also pay you $10 an hour but there's no job openings now.
That's what I'm concerned about; I mean really, is that how everyone supposed to live? Like I said I get the idea that you need a job to earn money, and you need money to survive in today's world. But I just can't stand how many hated their job but still in it just for sake for getting paychecks so they can buy stuff they want. Why can't people just put passion into their jobs as if they never work one day in their lives.
Get a CAREER.

Then you're set. Find something you love. Turns out I like to help people, so I'm gonna try my best at become a doctor, and if that fails I'm be a teacher. Since there's no jobs as teachers, next bet is Wal-Mart or something in the service industry.

If you have fun what you're doing, then you're never going to work a day in your life.

Damn, ninja'd.
