Just make a cannoneer because of the extra slots to hold items for merching and whatnot.

A mule means a character to act as a storage depot. If you don't need more storage, then wth is the mule for?
if its just a merch go with anything

But I don't like cannoneers, any other class ideas? (space isn't much of an issue)
canoneer has lots and lots of inventory space
cannoneer tons of slots
You can also do the tot's know how on all of your characters to get free 4 extra equip slots.
get the mule to lvl 30 or 70
30=12 more slots
70=24 more slots
Cannoneers, then do the happy day thing for slot expansions.

Depends on your equips, I hear good mules need a lot of funding.
