MapleStory hackings and You!

I should be typing my essay but meh.

[header]Introduction[/header]

Yes is me again lol...

[header]Our main issue[/header]

The surge of "hacking" in Maplestory. Not just white scroll hacking/exploiting/or wz editing. But account hacking.

[header]Background[/header]

Account hacking in MS has been going on since MapleStory was released. Two of the most common ways of getting hacked is downloading suspicious software and/or telling someone else your info. ~Last year, we had a "huge" surge of accounts being hacked and people said Nexon leaked/got hacked into. That was BS and probably still is. Let's try not to repeat that.

[header]Reasons you got hacked[/header]

1.You told your Info
2.Downloaded something you shouldn't have
3.Nexon got hacked into/leaked info.

[header]Reason#1[/header]

If you told someone like your bestfriend or family your info. You can get hacked. Most basilers don't seem to have this problem. Or maybe most just deny it, but meh. Honestly basilers who said in their thread,

"I got hacked, well because I told _______ my info, I didn't expect it from him/her" get a more positive thread than those who go "I got hacked, I told no one info(even if they did) Nexon got hacked into."

So if you told someone your info, Please don't lie about it.

Also: You may have told a friend your info before, but forgot you told them. With that said, even though you don't remember telling someone your info, you might and probably have

Also fake Nexon sites which require you to type in your info including your pic? Believe it or not basil people actually fall for that. But it's incredibly stupid right?

So with our basil ego who's really willing to admit to typing in your info on a site like those?

[header]Reason#2[/header]

Perhaps the most common way of getting hacked. Downloading malicious software, it's the internet guys, we all download random stuff.

Torrents:
t I haven't torrented because I'm to scared. Yes I'm scared of getting caught so I don't torrent but I know someone who does and I know how it works. On sites like piratebay some torrents have viruses in them. Sure the comments for the torrent normally tell you, "ITS A VIRUS GUIZES DONT DL" or some go "ITS MAY BE DETECTED AS A VIRUS BUT IT ISN'T GUYS." Some torrents may not even have comments which mean you're taking a risk.

With that said torrenting can all lead you to one place, getting hacked.

Now not every torrent is a virus, nor am I saying if you torrent you'll get hacked!
But I am saying, when you torrent, you take a chance bro.

Servers which are Private

These may also have software you might not want. Not all of them do, but some will have it. Careful guys/girls. Don't take the risk.

"I didn't download any suspicious software guys"

Bro, imagine you're trying to hack someones account by creating a key logger. Now, are you going to code and publish the key logger as a very suspicious software? Seriously are you going to name it "NotaKeylogger.exe"? No, no you are not. People are trying to be clever. Trying to make the software sound legit not suspicious so you actually download it and open it. With that said, be careful what you download.

[header]Reason 2.5[/header]

"Bro, I scan my comp everyday 24/7. So when I get hacked I'm sure I didn't have malicious software on my comp"

When you post that on a "I getz hecked thread" do you have ANY idea how suspicious that sounds? Who in the right state of mind scan their computer EVERY DAY. Sure, yeah a couple of you do it. But when every "i git hek" thread has this. Credibility = 0%.

[header]Reason 3[/header]

Nexon got hacked into.Normally I'd be like "Yay 15 year old can hack into Nexon"->Not possible.

But sure guys, it's COMPLETELY possible for this to happen. Possible but is it likely? Will someone really hack into a multimillion dollar company with probably pretty good security among their databases?

Come on people think about it.

Even if someone 20+ tries to hack in what makes you think they'll be successful? And if Nexon did get hacked into they will press charges. Internet hacking is serious business. The Cyber police is out there...No not really but, hacking is serious business. Doesn't matter if you're just hacking a game site or a bank. A student in my school tried to "test' his skills at hacking and hacked into the school website. No harm was done but the kid almost got sent to jail without the teachers backing him up saying he was a good kid etc.

[header]Conclusion[/header]

Nexon did not and probably will not get hacked into.

Now this doesn't mean I don't support a stronger security system from Nexon.

For example the PIC system. The PIC system is NOT a soft keyboard like the old PIN. IF you get have a key stroke detector on your computer it will detect what you input into the PIC,unlike the old pin. So Nexon should fix that.

Once again, I'm not rubbing in "You got hacked your fault nub gg" to the people who got hacked. I'm sorry for their loss. And I wouldn't want my 103 DK to get hacked either. But starting a small rumor like "Nexon got hacked" can lead to a very big problem. I've seen many threads hinting this already. Please stop. Thanks.

Btw, ignore grammatical mistakes pl0x. Its 1:11AM...

@sammy1992: Oh I know NEXON got hacked. I know MSEA got hacked. But you would be one stupid idiot to hack them if you did so. Your going to get caught and in jail you will end up.
That surge of hacked accounts last year was not fake at all -.-
Last years hacking was real. But was it because nexon got hacked into? I strongly believe no. Accounts were lost but the problem was not on Nexons end.
I am almost certain that the 'surge' of accounts being hacked at the start of this year were legit cases of 'being hacked'. A thread was made with a whole bunch of account info being listed on it (which was shortly locked), and it's impossible for one person to be told all this, and then simply just give the accounts away. They would only do that if the accounts were expendable, and the only case in which that is true is if they could hack whenever they wanted to. The hackings early this year was not people being stupid and telling others their account info, it's hackers ripping their way into people's accounts.
Or many people we're stupid enough to go to those sites where you needed to input your info or got keylogged. DOIIIIIIII
