The Golden Years

I miss the old days when it wasn't so easy to level. When ya got to the 4th job and it was an accomplishment. It's so easy now. Back when there was just the 4 classes. None of this Angelic busting bull. You only had to fear high level sins coming to KS you. Not flippin' kaisers and lumis and busters, oh my. It's just no challenge anymore

the only pq's that are populated are nett's, romeo, and ludi...i wish more people did pq's

@azngirlLH: But it's a lot less frequently. Well I'm kind of being hypocritical since I've stopped pqing too

While I understand that faster levelling is a good thing, I can justify it being a bad thing too. In the old MS, it was a chore and a lot of people would get bored quick. The community was divided in two - on one hand was the hardcore, and on the other was the casuals. A lot of the latter would remain on and do other things, contributing to a more social and friendly environment. Furthermore, at lower levels, you were stuck in certain maps for days if not weeks, and would often see familiar faces near your level range training.

Grinding isn't something people dread anymore, and so a lot more people focus on it. People breeze through to 120 in a matter of hours or days now, and no one really stays at one place for long until they get to LHC. The result is a very quiet community overall. Even in Scania, most maps and main towns are deserted or silent. The only way to get a decent social experience is through joining an active guild.

It really comes down to what kind of an experience you want, I guess. I feel like lower levels not being a complete breeze could benefit the social aspect of the MMO. I wouldn't want to sink years into a character to get to 4th job (It took me 4 years to get to level 120 on my Bishop), but I wouldn't mind it taking month or two compared to a day or two. That would make it feel more rewarding as well, I suppose. I feel no sense of accomplishment when I reach 120 these days.

Really, the only thing I liked about the old maple was training by myself. PQs were when you wanted to socialize, and then you could grind solo and listen to music and it was nice. Now every new training place is a party area..

It took two years to get my mage to fourth job, only to have Nexon change EVERYTHING about it a year later. Now it's unrecognizable. See how that kind of investment can be a bad thing? When it comes to leveling, I much prefer the current system -- and this is coming from someone who's been playing since '06. I like being able to fully enjoy a character without sinking a year of my life into it.

"I miss when...(list memories)"
"I miss when topics like this didn't exist."
"Oh look, this again."
"Maple was better before because...(reasons)"
"Maple is better now because...(reasons)"
"Pizza..."
etc.

This is almost the anime recommendation topic of the general section. It gets done every day, and it gets the exact same responses every day.

i agree i used to have a lvl 100 which took me like 1 year and a half to achieve and at that level could only manage to get like 20% a day playing for 2 hours or so now you can get to lvl 100 in like 2 days and you still can lvl like mad all the way up to like 150 easily before it starts to slow down
