I paranoid that hes a ped

Like I said in my previous thread, I'm going to start tutoring someone that needs help in algebra I (apparently a 9th grader) and I've been contacting his mother by email/texts for the past one or two days. But at this point, the only way I can meet up with this person is by going to their house. On my online profile, I made my age and sex (21 female) available to be seen by people, so what if this person is a ped-oh? I'm kinda paranoid that when I go to their house it'll be some creepy pervert... considering it's a strangers house. Should I just decline and not go through with the tutoring? I mean the person sounds legit and interested in my tutoring, but still... I'm kinda skeptical.

>pretend to be 21 online
>you think the person is a ped

I don't think you know what that word means.

My experience:
-Tutor someone at an academy (apply as a teacher).
-Tutor the younger brother/sister of your friends.
-If you have their address, look for any quiet yet popular locations nearby (preferably within walking distance) where you can teach (ie: Barnes and Nobles/Starbucks/etc).

@SweetArts: Uhhh, I wouldn't know if that makes a difference... I work at a school, so the school or the scholars program pays me.

I'm not sure, I'd still avoid any house calls

@DrHye Also idk if this is important or not, but on the site I signed up for to be a tutor, the person has her payment info. on file. Does that make a difference as to if I should do it or not?
The person said that she had a car accident and can't really drive much, idk I mean, I could always offer to pick up her son and go to a local library or something. I'm conflicted
I wouldn't offer a ride... in the case of a crash, you'd be at fault for any harm done to the kid if he's under 18 or if there's no consent form (that's why they have those in high school).

Are his parents divorced or something? And do you happen to know how severe her injury is? I don't think she'd hold it against you if you simply said "I would rather not tutor in someone's home if I don't know them very well"

If it's suspicious, go with your gut feeling.
Better to be safe than sorry, right?

Always go to a public place. If not the school, go to a library or somewhere else where you can tutor him, but also where there are other people. You shouldn't have to go into your students' home.

Suggest a library or coffee shop or something, if not, just politely decline.
