Advice for painting with a tablet

I just got a bamboo capture and was looking for advice. I drew quick sketches and then painted them and obviously there's a lot of room for improvement, like I noticed that they lack texture. Any tips, critique, or advice would be helpful. Also, I used Autodesk Sketchbook express for both of them because photoshop wasn't working so I was limited to two brushes sadly.

If you are looking for tutorials, go search deviantart, there are heaps and you'll probably find one that relates to you. Also try using Paint Tool SAI. It's another drawing program that you can download off the internet and it's very easy to use.

if possible, I'd say it would be better to draw more on paper and then scan in to colour. I see myself improving faster this way. Also, work on a bigger canvas and shrink the final product for a cleaner look. Also changing your resolution to 300 dpi is sort of helpful too (to up the quality). Don't forget to make some colour palettes as it will save you some time later on.

I found this video to be very helpful in terms of shading:

oh, I used the smudge tool for most of the shading and I'll try not to use black for shading. I'll try to upload a better picture soon if you cant really tell form those two
EDIT: are there any tutorials that you can recommend?

Avoid using dodge + burn tools and choose your own colours for highlighting + shadows~
