So can i anvil my cane into a wand appearance item and vice versa? Like a bow to a 2 handed sword?

The items have to be in the same category and the same gender.

The last time I tried, I turned my pet unicorn into a flying mount.
Or maybe that was a different game...
Wands with wands, canes with canes, swords with swords, etc.
