BasilMarket, and DotA.

I was wondering if any of you play DotA (Defense of the ancients). It'd be nice to start a basilmarket DotA tourney, have a general discussion thread etc etc if there are enough people who play

And no, this thread isn't about Basshunter.

I can't wait for the new Valve DotA. I have never, ever played it, but this is going to be interesting.

SC2 is Starcraft 2, which most people who played DotA played WC3 which means they played Starcraft Brood War. Everyone i know left DotA once SC2 came out, and now there is a DotA in the SC2 with new Heros and keeps your stats as you keep playing more DotA games which the other one never did. Plus the Graphics are like 10x better.

What's SC2? :O

Well thank you for this.

Maybe once I find a War3 TFT file, I can start playing DotA again.

@LEGENDairy: Oh I see. Thanks for explaining buddy
@angelxholy: Garena is a global server. There's rooms for every country. So if you start using garena, you'd probably be using the australian room in which only australians would be playing, therefore giving you a local range. The lag would depend on if the host is lagging, your internet, or your computer (if it just sucks). If anyone else lags really hard, the game pauses for a few seconds. But usually this never happens

Reply December 7, 2010 - edited
AngelxHoly

Oh, also. Would this garena work properly for aussies or would it have that annoying delay-lag?
What exactly is this bored aussie thingie? Is it battle.net?
Bored Aussie is a pizza slice which caters for the Australian market (primarily Melbourne since its based in Melbourne), since there is no Battle.net server in Australia/Oceania. You need an invite to play there.

@RJustice: Oh, thanks.

Now I just have to find War3 TFT for download.
Oh, I think it had something to do with Bored Aussies. It required the newest War3, I think.

I had DotA and everything updated, but it still wanted War 3. So yeah, I havent played in almost 2 years or more. I miss DotA.
Ohh. just use garena thats what everyone uses. Battle.net isn't really used as much nowadays. Garena basically treats the internet as a LAN, so you can play matches over it, through the LAN port

I don't think you need the latest version of TFT. If you already have TFT, then you can add dota onto it

Reply December 7, 2010 - edited

I used to.

Now I dont have the newest version of War III: TFT anymore.
If anyone knows where I can find it so I can play DotA again, I'd be grateful.

ORIGINAL:

Vi sitter här i venten och spelar lite DotA
å pushar på å smeker,
med motståndet vi leker.
Vi sitter här i venten och spelar lite DotA
å springer runt å creepar,
och motståndet vi sleepar.

TRANSLATION:
We're sitting here in Ventrilo and playing a bit of DotA
And pushing on and owning
With the opponents we're playing
I used to play DoTA before I played LoL, and I'd like to play it more, but I have no idea how I patch that thing. I'm on a patch where that Luna hero came out. So far away from the current patch
There's no need to patch it. Just go to www.getdota.com and download the latest map. It takes like 2 minutes? Copy this to your warcraft maps and double click to play
I have been playing it since 6.50 iirc sometime when icefrog took over guinsoo (forgot which version though) so yea I know how to play almost any hero in their respective roles, I also know a fair amount of competetive dota from observing professional replays but I mostly play pubs. I think that hosting a basil dota tourney will be fun but I have to ask, how are we going to have a stable connection if we live somewhere far?
I'm not sure about that. I'm guessing we play in international dota room (garena).
But what I am more concerned of is, how exactly will we be determining a 'winner' so to speak? I guess we'll have to predetermine the teams?
I rather make Lothar Edge than Dagon. His Ulti + Lothar = movingcloudstormthatenemycanthityou.
well, if he sees the cloud he knows your there. lol.
But after pt, vangy, dagon, anything goes, I'd personally go for a linken's to avoid getting roundhouse'd by stunners like tiny and lion

Anyone here play on Bored Aussies?
And, who's gonna get DotA2?

@ Above: His ult is useless later in the game.
I'd rather use lothars while you're stealing another person's damage and then pwn him once you're out of it.
What is dota, hon, and lol?
DotA - Defence of the Ancients, a mod map of Warcraft III based off an older Starcraft mod map known as Aeons of Strife.
HoN - Heroes of Newerth, a game that is entirely based on DotA
LoL - League of Legends, a spin-off game that utilises functions and gameplay from DotA

@7heBlood: that works too

@Xchippzanuff: At most it's possible to get 1 and like half of the second item in 20 mins. And razor is a pretty good hero now, he still can survive a battle well against his antis thanks to his 2nd skill.
For razor what'd you'd be doing it, ulti>2nd skill (drains his attack, and adds his attack damage to yours)>force field>dagon (if you got it), and chase/stay close so that your ulti affects him, and he can't really run away from it.
