Do you keep your hobbies from your parents?

So, Christmas is coming. This year my grandma is letting me make my list and order it off of Amazon myself, and then she wants to wrap it and whatnot just for her own sentiment, but yeah.
Anyway, two of my main items (The Bakuman boxed set, and Kingdom Hearts II.5 HD) are things I'd usually.. keep to myself. I don't know why, but I'm really careful about my grandma seeing all of my Japanese based things. It makes me feel a little immature and even looked down on even though I know she doesn't really care.
I guess I just made this to see if anyone else here is a little embarrassed by their hobbies like anime, manga, or video games.

Well, a lot of people think watching anime, listening to kpop, and playing games like maplestory are embarrassing for others that don't know about it to see. I would agree. HOWEVER, I believe it shouldn't be! Just because it's from another culture, who says we can't enjoy it? I hate when people judge others just based off things like this. The most annoying thing I could possibly hear is, "why watch things you can't understand/are from another culture?" What's wrong with doing so? That's what subtitles are for? Just enjoy yourself man, I stopped caring after trying to hide my hobbies for years. When people found out, they didn't even care. My parents probably think I'm a weirdo, but it's whatever lol. At least I'm happy <3

You make a list then hand it out to people? That is an odd thing. Why force people to buy you presents =(. Just let it happen naturally and if none are given then who cares! =(

This is from a Borussia Dortmund fan

I never cared what my parents said regarding my hobbies.
They're pretty use to anime and I got my younger brother and sister into them as well so they're pretty much stop caring.
Also were Asian and anime is aired and fairly popular back where I am from.

The earlier you desensitize them to something the better I guess. If they hate it now, they'll hate it forever at least over time they'll get over it (hopefully).

I've never been embarrassed about what I like. I never really openly discuss it, but if the topic comes up I don't deny it and will actively discuss said topic.
Don't worry to much about it, its just a bunch of books and a video game. It's not like your asking your grandma to buy you a 1/7 Figma with removable clothes and a 2 sided ero Dakimakura.

My parents love my hobbies. My dad sorta makes fun of me all the time though, when I'm on maple "That game gonna get you a wife". I enjoy going to the gym and i enjoy practicing martial arts. Beside that my other hobbies are reading and learning different cultures. The occasional misc of bb.com/basilmarket.com. It's also fun changing my oil, brake pads, switching out dead lights and just opening the hood.

I never tell my parents if I buy something useless or expensive. Bc they might be 'disappointed'. My mom DID find my stash of used NX cards. LMAO I died.
I bought a macbook couple months ago, and I have yet to tell them. I've been hiding it from them when Im at their house, good thing im at college though.
If I buy stuff with my own money, I don't really care. It's only when someone asks what I want, or gives me money that I actually feel pressured to buy a certain type of thing.
Like, if I waited until after Christmas to buy all of the same items with money I got for Christmas, it would feel completely different than buying it and having it arrive prior to Christmas so she can wrap it.
Then I could just take the box to my room and quietly unpack it..
My dad asks me every year for a wish list to give out to my family and relatives. Im 19 now, and this is the first year where I had no clue what I wanted at all.
My lists always composed of clothing, and accessories, and tech. Even some years when I wanted NX, I would never put it on my list.

NX... oh god.
I once asked my mom to get me some when I was around 13. She did and then asked what it was for and I told her it was for 'extra stuff to make the game more fun.'
Her response was just 'oh' as if it was the dumbest thing she'd ever heard.
That's the day I stopped buying NX. c:

This year I only put money for textbooks, a beanie, a watch, and iphone earphones.

I was thinking of putting gaming headsets, but I thought it would not look good to everyone looking at the list. I also dont think of myself much of a gamer.

So yeah, I do keep my hobbies of gaming away from my parents as much as I could. I would never again put xbox or playstation on my list. I do this because I know my parents doesnt like it when I play too much.
I mean bakuman is amazing, I wouldn't care since the boxed set is so expensive.
It's actually a lot cheaper than buying individual volumes. ($10 each basically with tax turns into $200 without the cool box and extras)
The boxed set is only $100 in comparison.

I'll watch anime in Japanese on the tv in the living room and no one will care. My sister likes bollywood films. My dad likes korean movies. I like weeabo garbage. No one cares. My sister actually was supposed to buy me kh2.5 today (I had a preorder) but she got home late so I just bought it myself lol

I don't really talk to my parents and we aren't that close, but I'm not ashamed of my hobbies. I like writing, photography, videomaking learning to draw, raising animals and now I want to learn an instrument. I also have a small hobby for shopping, if that counts, haha. Nothing embarrassing, and if anything, my parents are happy with my interests, save League of Legends.

I do keep my drinking "hidden" but I wouldn't consider it a hobby of mine.
I would NEVER let any of my family members hear the Anime I listen to, they would instantly laugh. They know I watch Naruto but I don't think they know it's in Japanese. I'm always watching with headphones in or when no ones home
Pretty much the same way. Whenever I watch any subbed anime (which is most of the time), I watch on my PC with headphones, on my phone with headphones, or on my TV very low whenever nobody is around my room.
I'm so paranoid that someone will hear it and it would be super weird.
