Anyone else excited about AMD's Zen architecture? I've been waiting for them to get competitive again and I'm tired of seeing Intel and Nvidia monopolize the market. Competition is always good and AMD is running out of time, in my opinion.
@twopointonefour: I've used a few before in really low-end builds. They're impressive for the price - especially when paired with a supported card. I'm just not a fan of using 'em for anything more than a decent rig to get by with because you're limiting what upgrades you can add in the future. Also, once you start budgeting over, say, 100 bucks for your processor and card you start seeing diminishing returns and you'd be better off going with a CPU that can better utilize its cores and a more powerful discrete card. Sounds like you've got a good plan for yours and what you need it for, though, so good choice. Probably saved you a decent amount.
+1@cannoneer: Well the good thing about AM4 is I can get a mobo now and wait and see how Raven Ridge ends up. Probably just end up getting whatever 2400 ddr4 kit and a generic m.2 sata ssd. All AMD really has to do for me is equal the broadwell architectures performance and it'll be fine for everything.
