I'm about to graduate medical school and i give maplestory credit for teaching me the concept of "grinding". Maple is proof that video games aren't all a waste of time. It taught me discipline in persistence. The grinding to lvl 200 was like a metaphor to adult life

Congratulations!! That's a huge accomplishment, and I know the basil community is proud of you

Discipline and persistence are both heavily needed in Maple, and can translate to real-word things nicely. Would I agree that grinding is *good* as a philosophy? I'm not so sure. I've always resented our education system for its "nose-to-the-grindstone" approach, but maybe that's a conversation for another time.

If you're going to be a doctor, what kind do you want to be?

@sunshine443: Thank you for your comment! The maple and basil community practically raised me. You're right in that our education system is so rigid and rewards students who brute force study more and uses creativity less. However, I cannot comment on if that's good or bad long term with regards to adult behavior and habits. I tend to think if it makes you successful there's not much more to complain about. And playing maple certainly helped me develop that goal-attaining drive. I mean, hunting for an ilbi drop is kinda the same as persisting hard towards your goal haha.

I'm doing diagnostic radiology with hopefully a breast imaging fellowship.
