 Even if evolution existed, which is probably the case, there must be something or someone that sparked evolution. For example, we all learned about spontaneous generation in ninth grade; it's virtually impossible to create life from non-life. So, my question is: We all know something must have sparked life. Is that God? Side-question: Is it even possible to consider yourself an atheist with that knowledge? Click here if you think this post is particularly interesting or helpful.

But you have to ask yourself, how would God have sparked himself from non-life? There's no justifiable answer to either side.

And what DarkWater said in first page. Evolution is proven, it is a fact that animals change over time, the problem is how they change, thats the theory which I don't think will ever get proven. Actually, scientists can create the mosts basic form of organic materials. I forget what it's called but all it takes his a certain combination of elements and compounds with a spark of electricity to give it energy and you get this black sludge like material which allows for bacteria to develope essentially starting life with the very building blocks of life which will then combine. So, like most things leading up to our existance, it was just a roll of the dice, we got lucky with lightning hitting the proper combination. And before you say "oh you heard about this on some crackpot site." I got it off the Discovery channel on a show where they were talking about potential planets for life and they did an experiment to confirm if, I think it was the moon Titan, would be able to support life by putting in all the substances on Titan's surface, adding water and then the "spark of life" a.k.a. lightning, they got the black sludge in the end.

We wouldn't be able to see it, if life started today, then the people who were born today would probably die by the time the life reached the end of the bacteria stage.
