Recently I have seen a lot of questions about aran, therefore, I will make a mini guide just to clear up a few things for you guys~
Nov.7th: 3rd job and 4th job detail look & few videos added, and mounts Nov.5th: guide created What is aran?: Aran is a brand new race in maplestory, with aran, we now have a total of three races (adventurer, CK, and aran). It is an ice based warrior type job that is based on the combo system. Aran can use all warrior weapons and equips, however, the main weapon of aran should be a polearm, as all of the skills requires a polearm in order to be cast. Aran already exist in KMS, and is already CONFIRMED to come to MSEA in this november and also to CMS in this december. Many people predict that GMS will get it between this december to next feb. because our patch is usually a few months behind MSEA. How strong is aran?: Aran is an entirely new race and judged on previous videos in kms and also the describtion of aran made by the CMS gm, it is said that a lv 200 aran have the potential/can be as strong as a lv 220~lv 230 adventurer. In other words, if funded properly, it would be the strongest class in maple. Aran also has a secret "mob" feature which allows them to attack 12 monsters with most of their skills, including regular attack! another unique feature of aran is that you earn along your skills as you rise in levels. For example, when you advance your 1st job, you only receive two skills (combat step and double attack) 1st job detail look: Many people believe that aran is slow due to the fact that it uses polearm, well actually it doesn't... you see, aran gets BOOSTER in 1st job!, and their booster is totally different/better compared to us because their booster gives a +3 SPEED to the weapon! Also, the skill combat step, moves across your map faster which covers the mobility issue in 1st job. Double attack, which is an aran's main attack skill in 1st job, is simliar to that of slash blast of a warrior. Last but not least, the combo system, which is also the skill and backbone of an aran, gives the character itself 1 combo for every continuous hit, for every 10 combos, you get a small boost of 1 attack, and you can reach a MAX of 10 attack boost (which is 100 combo). However, you have around 3 seconds to deliver the next hit before the combo is reset to 0. Combo will also be reset to 0 if a skill such as combo smash, combo peril or combo tempest is activated.Overall aran are great class but sadly, they aren't a strong 1st jobber judged from the videos. 2nd job detail look: There are several new skills you obtain in 2nd job but I am too lazy to describe all of them... but the high light of aran is no doubt combo smash and rush. Did I hear rush? well yes you did. Aran gets rush, which pushes the monsters together, in 2nd job! And as for combo smash, it's a skill that deals 700% to 10monsters at max level, but it requires a combo of 30 before casting it, which doesn't take too long. An unfunded aran can easily dish out 4.5k to 10 monsters at lv 50 with this attack. 3rd job detail look: As for 3rd job.. things are getting even more interesting. First up it combo critical, this skill enables aran to deal out critical damage as combo goes up, which is immensely helpful. The full swing(double attack&triple attack) increase your attack power. Smart knockback, an awsome skill which reduces 90% of the damage needed to knockback a monster. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcpoYrpvhF0 (youtube) (look at how much the aran pwns lyka) They also get a skill called combo peril, which is an updated version of combo smash except it can only be used at combo 100. They also get snow charge, which gives their weapon a boost in attack and also ice elemental. And final toss too, it's the only skill in maplestory that can throw a monster in air, while in air, the monster receives more damage. (doesn't work on boss) 4th job detail look: Now it's getting even more exciting. Aran now has overswing, a even stronger version of the "full swing" skill in 3rd job. They also get final blow, which is simply a desvastating stirke used after triple attack. They get high mastery which gives 10+ attack and 90% mastery which stablize their attack even more. they also get high defense (which is like achilies) and reduce the damage u receive by 15%. They also get a real neat skill called combo barrier, which can be used at combo 200+, when activated, ALL PARTY MEMEBERS(including yourself) have the damage they receive reduced by 20%, last for 240 seconds. Freeze standing, which is another skill, acts like stance and prevent you from getting knock backed. And they get maple warrior too which is the same for every class. Last but not least, the special move of aran, combo tempest. Upon activate this skill (which requires 200 combo+), it freezes all monsters in the map except boss for a period of 40 seconds. During that time, any damage dealt to the monster, even if it's only 1 damage, will automatically kill the monster. kaiunoob: watre u talkin about? u guys get owned by sairs NLs heros and pretty much every other class with an attack. But they have Sharp Eyes, which I'll assume most sairs, NLs, Heroes, and pretty much every class needs from BM/MMs. ... i played a lvl 44 aran alreay on my friends comp cuz hes korean and plays korean ms, and until theyre lvl 45 (when they get combo smash) they dont hit that much =.= about 2.3 k in total with triple swing at cpq room 3/4
my lvl 45 brawler hits 1.7k+ per hit and i hit about 3 times in the time it takes for aran to cast one triple swing thingy but at 45+ i dun really know they prblly hit more f3 kaiunoob: i don't see an aran able to consistently do that either, i've seen videos of lvl 50 arans training with that, they only used it like once every 30 secs. in that time an adventurer could easily out damage that. but why fight over a class that isn't even released yet? sure enough when it's out there's going to be more accurate comparisons and debates. in a week this same argument is probably going to made, and sure enough nexon will nerf them somehow. harry potter. You're seriously comparing CPQs dense ass mobs vs. KMS's training spots which have impossibly small mob sizes when it comes to how often a skill is used? I don't know what videos you've seen, but getting 30 combos is a JOKE. It takes less than 5 seconds with a large mob. Nexon nerfing them is the only thing that might happen. Did you just say a BM is outdamaged by a hero and "pretty much every other class" which entails mages/shadowers/buccs/DKs/paladins? Really? The weakness to Arans is simple... control. With their new attack system using directional controls instead of a set key, they require a bit more skill to use in order to maintain a combo and fight effectively. Also, as other people have mentioned, if they get stunned, they get screwed. It takes about 3-5 seconds of inactivity for a combo counter to vanish. If it does, they are very weak and it takes some time to power back up.
Ultimately, they will not outperform or make other warriors obsolete. They are what they are - a new race with a new playstyle. noob troll kai strikes again?

Their main attacks in 4th job don't even rely on arrow keys that much. The only main attack is final swing, and that's just the down button + normal attack key. Big deal. O_o Stunning is no big deal at all because with pap, you just sit on his ass. Same with zak. If you're a low level aran at zak with not enough HP to tank him, that sucks for you, but even if they can't tank them if you have SE you're still going to do a ton of damage. If you have neither the HP nor the buffs, well then you're pretty much screwed i guess. Who's the one going around saying arans are weak without combos anyway? What is the highest level they hit 200 or 120?
Tak3backer, if Aran's are so great, and you cant find a weakness, then what will maple be reduced to? A game where all other classes are needed for support buffs, and just Arans demolishing everything?
Im sure there will be some sort of weakness, especially since I see nexon coating them with foam, and a suction dart tip. Everyone's said this before other classes came out, but the proof is in the pudding this time. 2) Arans, if available, will replace a lot of attackers at bosses. Ranged are still wanted. DrKs are still wanted. Everyone else is shut out unless there's room for you. 3) Bosses will likely go down easier. Not a bad thing in PBs case though. I'm expecting a nerf to arans. They're way too overpowered, and that's not exaggeration. Also, what the hell does "coating them with foam and a suction tip dart" mean? They only got that title cause of a Skill they have in their Skillbook. They're very repetitive, using double swing/triple swing most of your career just to try to get combos all the time.
Oh yeah, a kMS patch made the Aran damage %'s higher than what it was supposed to be (When they first got it). They made everything stronger. Plus, Shads and Buccs are still the original 'combo-ers' to me. Arans literally spam 2-3 skills and they have to be pressed fast, you can't hold the key. Takeback3r: 1) Since when was their mobbing a secret? 2) 4.5k? Really? This isn't anything close to a guide, since you linked to an SP build instead of writing one yourself. Not to mention not entirely true. A level 200 aran is not equal to a 230 adventurer. Arans will never be stronger than ranged classes. Ever. It is however way stronger than all non-ranged non-mage adventurers with SE. Did.. did I see a 10k ! Listing: Bf leech
