 notable ugly pokemon (mostly evolutions) with sarcastic commentary: charizard-a fire-breathing dragon. yeah how creative blastoise-um what a turtle with cannons on its back? wow great. pidgeot-why does it have so much hair raticate-a rat with teeth so big it can't close its mouth cool... arbok-purple cobra...wow raichu-orange pikachu that's all nidoqueen+nidoking-what an excuse to up the # of pokemon to 151 clefable-can't tell the difference between this and clefairy wigglytuff-^ golbat-what the heck is this thing can't close its mouth dugtrio-three of those dumbgos stuck together awesome primeape-boxing monkey what the heck poliwrath-boxing frog what the heck machamp-...okay then geodude-a rock with arms that defies gravity? magneton-see dugtrio dodrio-see magneton muk-purple poop with eyes hypno-how does a pokemon magically acquire a pendulum thing electrode-pokeball exeggutor-see dodrio marowak-so the bone thing is just a mask and with the amount of pokemon professors in existence in the vast pokemon universe nobody bothered to take it off and see what was under hitmonlee-stupid excuse to make a reference to a martial artist hitmonchan-^ weezing-see exeggutor kangaskhan-i don't udnerstand the baby in the pouch thing starmie-a star mr.mime-LOL jynx-oh god... electabuzz-can't close its mouth pinsir-what the heck is this thing? tauros-a bull with lots of tails cooleh gyarados-it can't close its mouth AND its a water pokemon how does it swim mewtwo-a mew...but not really! k so yeah Click here if you think this post is particularly interesting or helpful.

All the new gen pokemon look like machines to me lol, like robots, technology.
Hmm... I guess the whole idea of some pokemon being badly designed is just subjective- it's what you think looks good or not/works well.
Many of the things about 1st Gen Pokemon that you've pointed out are simply unrealistic-e.g. geodude's invisible legs, but the whole idea of pokemon is unrealistic anyway- e.g. Storing large organisms in tiny capsules, pokemon having their own water supply for whenevr they wanna use hydro pump, etc. And as for some pokemon not being able to close their mouths, that's probably because you're used to seeing them in game (?). They would have closed them in the anime. That's like looking at the Mona Lisa and saying "Haha! She can't blink!" dude you are stupid >_> golbat and gyarados CAN infact close their mouth dumba$$
You could do that for most generations, I bet. :/

This is dumb. first generation Pokemon were the best. Now that the fourth generation came out, they don't even have that many animals to make sense of what theyre coming up with now.

@the charizard observation, did you expect them to have a fire breathing fish? It's not original because it's logical. and how can you not get the Kangaskhan? Kanga, as in Kangaroos, which are marsupials. Pokemon first generation is the most popular ever...all other generations ratings and sales combine=first generation GG
1st generation was the best, the rest i didnt really like
