Depends on what kinda car you want, a German, Japanese, coupe, sedan, SUV gotta be pretty more specific.
Though an Honda Civic coupe with a turbo is an excellent car, excellent on gas even after the turbo, good power cuz of turbo, very reliable, pretty cheap so you can even get a 03 depending on where you live, and easily modded. And best of all, insurance wont be a lot either, I luckily got my parents to pay my $450 per month insurance. Stupid BMW....... For $8000 your best bet is just to get a boring 4 door with a reasonable engine. Something like a Nissan Altima will be enough for you to be happy, just make sure the engine is at least 3.0L if you like a car that moves when you tell it to go.
get urself a subaru legacy, they look really cool and u can shove a few speakers in the back, ohh and theyre cheap too :D

Or put a turbo on it Also you really gotta think how much space imma need in my shiny new wheels, if you gonna need loads of space for people and luggage, get like a Escalade, but just a tiny car for you and only you, a Altima or a Civic will be fine. I wish I had a car. If you get a car make sure it's black and has flames on it. Better yet get a motorbike.
Abu210, turbos cost 1,000$ + .
get a used toyota, honda. get a crappy car. you WILL get into an accident. i hate the car im driving because it has horrible brakes but it's taught me to drive more carefully.
Don't understand the fascination with people and Civics. It's an underpowered econobox. Where is the fun in that. Yes you can strap on a turbo, but without forging your internals you can only run 4-5psi of boost.

I presonally hate Civics, but I have to admit its good cars for first time drivers especially since the parents are willing to buy it for you and pay the insurance since its all so cheap. And reliable as hell. As for me, im a BMW, Audi and Cadillac. ( Which at my family has each of. ) megaf6: I have a 94' 3000GT twin turbo, picked it up for $6,500. Are you factoring in insurance and such, because Insurance will be 5 grand + a year easily. If you can pay that 5 or more thousand dollars then go for a used Honda Civic from 95-03ish or some older Toyota
My parents were suggesting that i get a nissan also. I don't know that much about cars. =(
