ColdIce’s Dual Blader Guide

Version 7.0.

Sticky

Wow, thank you all for this sticky. It means so much to me. Thank you very much!

To all Mods

Why is the name of my guide changed from ‘ColdIce’s Dual Blader Guide’ to ‘Dual Blader Guide’? I prefer ‘ColdIce’s Dual Blader Guide’. If it should start with ‘Dual Blader’, I prefer ‘Dual Blader Guide by ColdIce’. If my name can’t be in it, I prefer ‘Dual Blader Guide: The road to a master’.

Introduction

Hello all!

I’m ColdIce and I’m the author of this Dual Blader guide. This guide is meant to help all people that want to make a Dual Blader.

P.S. Sorry for the infrequent updates lately. I was ill and was enjoying Evan too. I also had to script a Character Customization Script in RGSS for somebody. Buzzy, buzzy, buzzy…

NOTE: I’m way too lazy to write all the skills down, so you can check ‘the giant compilation of Dual Blade info’ by xKlaudex for the skills. Good luck with your Dual Blader!

What are Dual Bladers?

Dual Bladers are a kind of thieves that wield two daggers at the same time. They wear one regular dagger and one ‘blade’, which is a shield. So, for example, you can’t equip two normal thief daggers, but you have to equip a regular dagger and a special DB (Dual Blader) weapon. They have more flashy skills than Bandits in my opinion, but they move forward when they are attacking with all their skills (except the 1v1 skills). They are real mob-characters.
WARNING: You can only make Dual Bladers for a limited amount of time.

Storyline

Spadow: The previous Dark Lord had a student named Jin and a daughter, Sulhee.
Basically what happened was that the friend of the previous Dark Lord, Tristan, requested help to kill Balrog.
Unfortunately, Dark Lord got turned into a monster by Balrog and his student Jin had to kill Dark Lord because he was attacking Kerning City.
The daughter of the previous Dark Lord, Sulhee, saw the dead body of her father brought by Jin.
She thought that Jin framed him and killed him because of his position. (Although, she loved Jin, but she is stupid and thinks that way)
So Jin became the next Dark Lord and Sulhee created a secret dark organization to go against Jin.
Now the rogues are disappearing from Kerning City by Sulhee’s command to recruit them to Dual Blade to fight against Jin.

Stat build

There are different ways to distribute your AP:

Regular (DEX)
AP Distribution: DEX+2, LUK+3 every level UNTIL lvl 40, then DEX+1, LUK+4 every level UNTIL cap
Pro’s:
-Most equips to choose from
-The strongest at lvl 90 and higher
-The cheapest
Cons:
-The weakest until lvl 90
-Least avoidability

DEX-less
AP Distribution: LUK+5 every level
Pro’s:
-The strongest until lvl 90
-Most avoidability
Cons:
-Least equips to choose
-The weakest at lvl 90 and higher
-Costs the most

MY THOUGHTS: I think the regular build is the best for now. Until the Maple Blades are released, DEX-less is the weakest.

NOTE: I left the STR-build out. See the FAQ (question 2) to know why.

The path of a Dual Blader

The Dual Blader has just one option for second job: Semi-Dualer. The path a Duale Blader follows, is this:
lvl 10: Rogue
lvl 20: Semi-Dualer
lvl 30: Dualer
lvl 50: Dual Master
lvl 70: Slasher
lvl 120: Dual Blader

The path of a Rogue (lvl 10 – lvl 20)

SP: 31
Skill Breakdown
Nimble Body:
Master level: 20
Increases accuracy and avoidability.
Level 1: Accuracy +1, avoidability +1
Level 10: Accuracy +10, avoidability +10
Level 20: Accuracy +20, avoidability +20
Well, it’s not THAT good, but some extra accuracy and avoidability can come in handy.

Keen Eyes:
Master level: 8
Increases the range of attack using throwing weapons such as throwing stars and knives.
Level 1: Range of attack for throwing weapon: +25
Level 5: Range of attack for throwing weapon: +125
Level 8: Range of attack for throwing weapon: +200
No, this is a skill for assassins, don’t touch this one.

Disorder:
Master level: 20
Temporarily decreases the morale of an oppent. Its weapon def. and attack will suffer, and the attacking enemy will suddenly stop attacking. Can’t perform the attack on an enemy that’s already in “disorder”, however.
Level 1: MP -5; Enemy’s weapon attack -1, weapon def. -1 for 7 seconds
Level 10: MP -7; Enemy’s weapon attack -10, weapon def. -10 for 31 seconds
Level 20: MP -10; Enemy’s weapon attack -20, weapon def. -20 for 60 seconds
Making the monsters de-agro can be handy, but it already is good enough when it’s lvl 3 (the pre-requisite for Dark Sight).

Dark Sight:
Master level: 20
Use MP to hide behind the shadows. While hiding, the enemy won’t attack, but you can’t attack back either. All movements other than attacking are available. It’s temporary, so after a while, you will be back to normal.
Level 1: MP -24; Disappear for 10 seconds, speed -30
Level 10: MP -15; Disappear for 100 seconds, speed -12
Level 20: MP -5; Disappear for 200 seconds, regular moving speed
Really nice skills. When maxed, you can combine it with Haste. Good for traveling. I would say: GET AS HISH AS POSSIBLE! It’s also a pre-requisite for Advanced Dark Sight.

Double Stab:
Master level: 20
Use MP to stab an enemy twice at once using a dagger.
Level 1: MP -6; Damage 65% x 2 Hits
Level 10: MP -9; Damage 95% x 2 Hits
Level 20: MP -14; Damage 130% x 2 Hits
Well, it can help you train while you’re still in the first job, but it’s already replaced at lvl 20, with a lvl 1 Triple Stab.

Lucky Seven:
Master level: 20
Use MP to throw 2 throwing stars and apply damage based on LUK, regardless of the rate of javelin mastery.
Level 1: MP -8; Damage 58% x 2 Hits
Level 10: MP -11; Damage 100% x 2 Hits
Level 20: MP -16; Damage 160% x 2 Hits
No, this is a skill for assassins, don’t touch this one.

Builds
I’ve got one build for you:

Regular build
Double Stab +10 [10] UNLOCKED SECOND JOB SKILL TRIPLE STAB
Save SP (21)

MY THOUGHTS: I would choose this build. It’s completely focused on later, since you get a high level of Dark Sight, while still being able to unlock Triple Stab in second job.

The introduction to Dual Bladership: The Semi-Dualer (lvl 20 – lvl 30)

SP: 30+21=51
Skill breakdown
For skill info, see [s = /forum/1389005/]this[/s] page.

My thoughts on the skills
Blades Mastery: You should max this or leave it at lvl 19. It makes your minimum damage go up and gives you more accuracy.
Triple Stab: A strong 1v1 up until 3 MOB move. Too bad you can’t max this one.
Ido Booster: Boosts the speed of your dagger. The only reason to get this higher, is because of the duration. I would say: Get it to 1 minute.

Builds
I’ve got one build for you. Check him out!

Attack first
Triple Stab +10 [10] MAX
Blade Mastery +19 [19]
Ido Booster +6 [6]
Disorder +3 [3] UNLOCKED ‘Dark Sight’
Dark Sight +13 [13]

Mastery first
Triple Stab +1 [1]
Blade Mastery +19 [19]
Triple Stab +9 [10] MAX
Ido Booster +6 [6]
Disorder +3 [3] UNLOCKED ‘Dark Sight’
Dark Sight + 13 [13]

Further on the road: Dualer (lvl 30 – lvl 50)

Alright, you reached the equivalent of the Adventurer’s/KoC’s/CK’s/Aran’s second job. Congratulations!

SP: 61
Skill breakdown
For skill info, see [s = /forum/1389005/]this[/s] page.

My thoughts on the skills
Endure: Nice. Did you look at the HP/MP recovery? 100HP/40MP every 5 seconds. That’s even better than the chair! Isn’t it awesome? Too bad you can’t max it yet.
Self-Haste: Well, it’s worse than the regular haste, but I’d say: MAX IT!
Fatal Blow: MAX IT! It’s a nice attacking skill: 125%x8(!)=1000%(!)
Slash Storm: Omg, another great move: Your first mobbing move! I would say you need to max it, since it mobbing is always fast.

Builds
This is one build with different paths.

Regular Build
Slash Storm +1 [1]
Fatal Blow +1 [1]
Primary Skill MAX
Secondary Skill MAX
Self-Haste +20 [20] MAX
Dark Sight +1 [14]

Primary- and Secondary Skills plz
Alright, you’re probably wondering what the Primary and Secondary Skills are. Well, it are the skills ‘Fatal Blow’ and ‘Slash Storm’. You HAVE to MAX them both, but you can choose what order. I will give you some advice:

What skills as Primary- and Secondary Skills?
I would suggest you to take Slash Storm, the mobbing skill, as Primary Skill, since you will be mostly fighting against 6 monster MOBs at this level. As Secondary Skill, you would take Fatal Blow to finish off the monster that’s left in your MOB, or to attack a random monster that’s just walking around. But it’s completely up to you.

NOTE: You can switch the Secondary around with Dark Sight and Self-Haste if you really want to.

Climbing Higher: Dual Master (lvl 50 – lvl 70)

First, congratulations. You did pretty well if you came this far!

SP: 60+1=61
Skill breakdown
For skill info, see [s = /forum/1389005/]this[/s] page.

My thoughts on the skills
Tornado Spin: Well, it’s a nice add-on for Tornado Spin (attack). It looks like it increases the range. Correct me if I’m wrong. However, it costs tons of MP.
Tornado Spin (attack): It might be weaker than Slash Storm (70%), but it has a much bigger range (75%).
Flash Bang: Mwah, not strong, and I don’t think that the accuracy decreasement helps that much, especially since the long cooldown (80-60 secs). Get it to 11, when it hits 15 enemies, and leave it, so you can use it for MOB-gathering.
Flash Jump: A must-MAX!

Builds
Regular build
Flash Jump +1 [1]
Tornado Spin +1 [1]
Flash Bang +1 [1]
Tornado Spin +19 [20] MAX
Flash Jump +19 [20]
Dark Sight +6 [20] MAX
Ido Booster +12 [18]

MY THOUGHTS
The best buid. Flash Bang is not that good…

NOTE: You can switch Self-Haste and Tornado Spin around if you really want to.

Almost there: Slasher (lvl 70 – lvl 120)

Congratulations on achieving the equivalent of an Adventurer’s/KoC’s/CK’s/Aran’s third job! And a new set of skills! Check them out!

SP: 151
Skill Breakdown
For skill info, see [s = /forum/1389005/]this[/s] page.

My thoughts on the skills
Advanced Dark Sight: This is a perfect skill in combination with Chains of Hell. Chains of Hell requires you to be in Dark Sight, and with this skill you have a chance to stay in Dark Sight, improving the spammability of Chains of Hell.
Bloody Storm: A fantastic mobbing skill. When hits all mobs, it is the strongest mobbing move available (calculated with DPS). GET THIS! MAXMAXMAXMAXMAX!
Mirror Image: Another awesome skill! MAXMAXMAXMAXMAX!
Owl Dead: Chance of OHKO’ing? Woot! 50% Attack bonus on 9 skills? Double woot!
Upper Stab: AWESOME! High speed, so a real spamming attack (if it’s possible…)
Flying Assaulter: Another awesome skill! Great for mob gathering.

Builds
You can MAX everything, and that leaves you with 31 extra points!

Standard Build
Upper Stab +1 [1]
Flying Assaulter +1 [1]
Mirror Image +21 [21]
Upper Stab +10 [11]
Bloody Storm +10 [10] MAX
Flying Assaulter +10 [11]
Mirror Image +9 [30] MAX
Flying Assaulter +9 [20] MAX
Upper Stab +9 [20] MAX
Owl Dead +20 [20] MAX
Advanced Dark Sight +20 [20] MAX
Ido Booster +2 [20] MAX
Endure +20 [20]
Nimble Body +9 [9]

Discription:
First you get 1 Upper Stab, because Upper Stab is good anyway. Next you get Flying Assaulter, because it’s a good MOB gathering move. 21 Mirror Image, because the duration is at his max then. Then 10 Upper Stab, because you have a nice medium attack/attack bonus and you hit 5 enemies then. Bloody Storm to 10 because it’s the strongest mobbing attack when it hits all monsters. After that, you bring Flying Assaulter to 11, because then you start hitting 6 enemies. Mirror Image to 30 for the strong damage bonus. Flying Assaulter to 20 to hit even stronger. Upper Stab to 20 for even more damage bonus. Owl Dead, because it’s a nice skill. Advanced Dark Sight as preparation for Chains of Hell. Ido Booster, Endure and Nimble Body because you have to put your SP in SOMETHING.

Additional Information
You can max Bloody Storm earlier if you want to.

The top: Dual Blader (lvl 120 – lvl 200)

Congraaaaaaaaaatulations! I will probably never come that far.

SP: 241
Skill Breakdown

My thoughts on the skills
Venom: Poisons with some nice damage, nice! MAXMAXMAXMAXMAX!
Maple Hero: AWESOME STAT BOOST! MAXMAXMAXMAXMAX!
Final Cut: 1500% DMG + DOUBLE DAMAGE FOR 60 SECS! Too bad of that 100 sec Cooldown Time. But still: MAXMAXMAXMAXMAX!
Monster Bomb: Has a horrible range, hits only 3 monsters and 1 minute Cooldown Time. Least priority.
Sudden Raid: Your ultimate (ultimately strong and fullscreen) attack. MAXMAXMAXMAXMAX!
Chains of Hell: A godly 1v1 attack (12x250%=3000%)! So: MAXMAXMAXMAXMAX!
Stack Effect: Dual Blader’s Puppet. Guess what? MAXMAXMAXMAXMAX!
Thorns: This is why people want you in the party. Do you think what I think? MAXMAXMAXMAXMAX!
Hero’s Will: A good way to replace the All Cure pots, but with a Cooldown Time… What do you say? I forgot something? No, I don’t think so.

Venom +30 [30] MAX
Chains of Hell +30 [30] MAX

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Am I forced to buy the Mastery Books from the Cash Shop?
You’re not forced to do anything. But, getting to your question, you can also hunt for them.

Q: Why exactly do you leave the STR-build out? Can’t you just use a STR-dagger and a
DEX-blade?
Well, the strong point of the STR-build is that they wear attack shields, which require STR. However, with the blades, you can’t wield a shield.

Dual Bladers wield a dagger (like dits) and a blade. Not just one special Dual Blader wep. The blade replaces the shield slot. And Dual Bladers do not have L7 in 1st job. Correct me if I'm wrong.
