Thief FAQ
The Thief FAQ is dedicated to my good friend EluNirvelli, who recently quit MapleStory [imuDani<3] and to TemplarZ3/ NeoSlash for giving me the motivation to actually finish the Thief FAQ New Thief FAQ! Now with less KSing! Note - This FAQ is divided into two sections, one for bandits and one for assassins. The two classes are almost completely different, with many different training spots in 3rd job. Note - Also, basic thief knowledge is required, it really isnt necessary for me to tell you that you need 25 DEX to become a thief, is it? Ok with that said and done, lets begin. Bandits -Hello! Welcome to the Bandit section of this FAQ, if you look to the left of you, you will see a STR bandit, if you look to your right, you will see a LUK bandit. Now you might be asking, what is the pivotal points that makes people go either which way. Its simple! STR bandits have a more stable atk range (i.e. 5-8) while a LUK bandit has a higher atk range, but isn't so stable (4-9). The choice is all yours! Picked yet? Good! Now lets move onto your AP distribution. For STR bandits: 10-14:2 DEX 3 LUK 15-40:1 STR 2 DEX 2 LUK 41-[Lvl you cap STR]: 1 STR 1 DEX 3 LUK -When you cap your STR, do 1 DEX 4 LUK, until you cap your DEX. For LUK bandits: 10-40:2 DEX 3 LUK 41-[Lvl you cap DEX]: 1 DEX 4 LUK It is imperative that you do your correct AP distribution every level, especially if you are a STR bandit Ok, now lets move to SP. The good thing about SP is that your AP build doesn't mean anything for your SP build. 1st Job Lvl 10: 1 Double Stab (1) Lvl 11~16: 3Double Stab (19 at Lvl 16) Lvl 17: 1 Double Stab 2 Nimble Body (Maxed Double Stab, 2 Nimble Body) Lvl 18~23: 3 Nimble Body (Maxed at Lvl 23) Lvl 24: 3 Disorder -Now you must choose if you want to max Dark Sight or Disorder, Disorder is useless compared to Dark Sight but I will include both. Lvl 25~30: 3 Dark Sight (18) Lvl 25~29: 3 Disorder (18) Lvl 30: 2 Disorder 1 Dark Sight (Maxed Disorder 1 Dark Sight) 2nd Job Here is a build with Mastery first Lvl 30 = 1 Mastery (1) Lvl 31-36 = 3 Mastery (19) Lvl 37-46 = 3 Savage Blow (30 Maxed) Lvl 47-48 = 3 Booster (6) Lvl 49-54 = 3 Haste (18) Lvl 55 = 2 Haste (20 Maxed), 1 Booster (7) Lvl 56-59 = 3 Booster (19) Lvl 60 = 1 Booster (20 Maxed) 2 Endure (2) Lvl 61-66 = 3 Endure (20 Maxed) Here is a build with Savage Blow first: Lvl 30 = 1 Savage Blow (1) Lvl 31-39 = 3 Savage Blow (28) Lvl 40 = 2 Savage Blow (30 Maxed) 1 Mastery (1) Lvl 41-46 = 3 Mastery (19) Lvl 47-48 = 3 Booster (6) Lvl 49-54 = 3 Haste (18) Lvl 55 = 2 Haste (20 Maxed), 1 Booster (7) Lvl 56-59 = 3 Booster (19) Lvl 60 = 1 Booster (20 Maxed) 2 Endure (2) Lvl 61-66 = 3 Endure (20 Maxed) After 66 you can add your SP to anything you want. An Alternate Build would be getting SB to 21 first then getting 19 Mastery and then completing SB (also, this is what you do when your a SinDit) 3rd Job Lvl 70 = 1 Assaulter (1) Lvl 71-76 = 3 Band of Theives (18) Lvl 77 = 3 Chakra (3) Lvl 78 = 1 Meso Guard (1) 1 Meso Explosion (1) 1 Assaulter (2) Lvl 79-88 = 3 Assaulter (30 Maxed) Lvl 88 = 2 Meso Guard (3) Lvl 89 = 3 Meso Guard (6) Lvl 90-93 = 3 Band ofTheives (30 Maxed) Lvl 94 = 2 Meso Explosion (3), 1 Pickpocket (1). Lvl 95-110 = Max Meso Explosion and Pickpocket, it can be done in any order you want. Lvl 110-114 = 3 Meso Guard (20 Maxed) Lvl 115-120 = ANYTHING(I suggest getting Chakra, it is much more useful than Shield Mastery) Many people like to get 1 ME earlier on for training at Gobies. Here is an alternate build where Assaulter is maxed right from the beginning: Lvl 70 = 1 Assaulter (1) Lvl 71 = 3 Chakra (3), Lvl 72- 1 Meso Explosion, 1 Meso Gaurd, 1 Assualter Lvl 73-80 = 3 Assaulter Lvl 81 = 2 Assaulter (30 Maxed), 1 Meso Guard (1) Lvl 82-84 = 3 Meso Guard (10) Lvl 85 = 3 Meso Explosion (4) Lvl 86-95 = 3 Band of Theives (30 Maxed) Lvl 96-103 = 3 Meso Explosion (28) Lvl 104 = 2 Meso Explosion (30 Maxed), 1 Chakra (3) Lvl 105-110 = 3 Pickpocket (18) Lvl 111 = 2 Pickpocket (20 Maxed),1 Meso Guard (11) Lvl 112-114 = 3 Meso Guard (20 Maxed) Lvl 115-120 = Whatever you want Training Areas- Lvl 1-10: Snails, Blue Snails, Shrooms Lvl 10-20: Slimes, Shrooms, Orange Mushrooms Lvl 20-30: Green Mushrooms, Horny Mushrooms, Wild Boar Lvl 30-40: Ratz, Brown and Pink Teddy, Sakura Cellion, Jr. Cellion, Chronos Lvl 40-50: Sakura Cellion, Curse Eyes, Retz, Paper Lantern Ghost, Night Fox Lvl 50-60: Jr. Yeti, Zombie Lupin, Coolie Zombie, Gryphon, STD Lvl 60-70: Hoodoo, Voodoo, Mixed and Dark Stone Golems, Gryphon, Coolie Zombies Lvl 70-80: Hoodoo, Voodoo, Coolie Zombie, Mixed and Dark Stone Golem, Goby, STD, Water Goblins Lvl 80-90: Goby, Kentaurus (Any Color), Death Teddies, Master Death Teddies Lvl 90-100: Vikings, Goby, Kentaurus Lvl 100-110: Kentaurus, Squids, Viking, Dreamy Ghost, Goby Lvl 110-120: Goby, Dreamy Ghost, Grims, Squids Lvl 120-130: Dreamy Ghost, Jr. Newties, Skelegons, Skelosaurus, Red and Blue Wyverns Lvl 130+: Skelegons and Skelosaurus. That’s the best option for anyone in the game at this point. Assassins Yatta Yatta Yatta, hello this is the assassin guide, I’m currently having WRITERS BLOCK so lets just get on with the show. Like any other character you’re gonna start off with AP. 2 DEX 3 LUK until level 40 1 DEX 4 LUK after level 40 That’s it, pretty cut and clean, if you are going lowdex or dexless, then it’s totally different. Calculating the dex required to equip a claw is based on what dex is required for the claw, and what is the total dex for all your dex equips, and what base dex you have. If you are trying to equip a level 70 scarab that reqs. 110 dex and you have 50 base dex, you are going to need dex equips equivalent to 110-50. 110-50=60 so you will need equips that total to 60 dex. side note: im too lazy, im just going to copy and paste the sin SP builds form the last one, im making a new guide for sins anyway, so ill just copy n paste the one from there to this one when its all nice and done ^_^ 1st Job Level 10= 1 Nimble Body (1 Nimble Body) Level 11= 2 Nimble Body and 1 Keen Eyes (3 Nimble Body)(1 Keen Eyes) Level 12= 3 Keen Eyes (4 Keen Eyes) Level 13= 3 Keen Eyes (7 Keen Eyes) Level 14= 1 Keen Eyes, 2 Lucky Seven (8 Keen Eyes)(2 Lucky Seven) Level 15= 3 Lucky Seven (5 Lucky Seven) Level 16= 3 Lucky Seven (8 Lucky Seven) Level 17= 3 Lucky Seven (11 Lucky Seven) Level 18= 3 Lucky Seven (14 Lucky Seven) Level 19= 3 Lucky Seven (17 Lucky Seven) Level 20= 3 Lucky Seven (20 Lucky Seven) Level 21= 3 Nimble Body (6 Nimble Body) Level 22= 3 Nimble Body (9 Nimble Body) Level 23= 3 Nimble Body (12 Nimble Body) Level 24= 3 Nimble Body (15 Nimble Body) Level 25= 3 Nimble Body (18 Nimble Body) Level 26= 2 Nimble Body and 1 Disorder (20 Nimble Body, 1 Disorder) Level 27= 2 Disorder, 1 Dark Sight (3 Disorder, 1 Dark Sight) Level 28= 3 Dark Sight (4 Dark Sight) Level 29= 3 Dark Sight (7 Dark Sight) Level 30= 3 Dark Sight (10 Dark Sight) 2nd Job 30= 1 Claw Mastery 31=2 Mastery 1 Critical 32-40= 3 Critical 41 = 2 Critical, 1 Haste 42-47= 3 Haste 48 = 1 Haste, 2 Mastery 49-50= 3 Booster (One Minute) 51= 3 Endure 52-61= 3 Drain (If Mastery first) 51-55= 3 Mastery, 56= 1 Endure, 57-66= 3 Drain, 67-70= 3 Booster (If Drain first) 62-66= 3 Mastery 67-70= 3 Booster 3rd Job 70= 1 into SP 71= 3 Avenger 72= 2 Avenger 1 FJ 73-81= 3 SP 82=2 SP 1 FJ 84-88= 3 FJ SP first- 70-1 sp 71-81- 3 sp And do as you please after After 91 there are many different types of builds, some do Avenger, some do Alchemist and Meso Up together, or Alchemist and Meso Up separate. The type of build after 91 also depends on where you are planning on training; there are special builds for special places to train. Training Areas- Lvl 1-10: Snails, Blue Snails, Shrooms Lvl 10-20: Slimes, Shrooms, Orange Mushrooms Lvl 20-30: Green Mushrooms, Horny Mushrooms, Wild Boar Lvl 30-40: Brown and Pink Teddies, Sakura Cellions, Jr, Cellion. Lvl 40-50: Retz, Sakura Cellion, Fly Eyes, Luster and Lunar Pixies Lvl 50-60: Fly eyes, STD, Coolie Zombie, Gryphon Lvl 60-70: Hoodoo and Voodoo, Gryphon, STD, Water Goblin, Coolie Zombie Lvl 70-80: Hoodoo and Voodoo, Mixed and Dark Stone Golems, Coolie Zombies, Death Teddies, STD Lvl 80-90: Kentaurus, Squid, Death Teddy and Master Death Teddy, Spirit Viking, Wolf Spiders Lvl 90-100: Kentaurus, Vikings, Squids, Gobies Lvl 100-110: Dreamy Ghosts, Gobies, Squids, Grims, Lvl 110-120: Jr. Newties, Dreamy Ghosts, Grims, Gobies, Wyverns Lvl 120-130: Jr. Newties/ Nest Golems, Dreamy Ghosts, Grims, Skelegon and Skelosaurus, Wyverns Lvl 130+: Jr. Newties/ Nest Golems, Skelegon and Skelosaurus Choosing Stars Stars is the one of the most important things for a sin. When choosing stars, dont think so much on the attack, but how money you have, if you have 500k, its better to go with mokbis then kumbis. Remember, quantity > quality If you have 15mil, its better to get 15 tobis then 1 steely because 1.you will train for longer, which adds up to training faster because you dont have to recharge every 10 minutes and 2.you end up saving money. BanditSins: AP and SP BanditSins (or SinDits) use L7 for faster training in 1st job and then choose the Bandit job when getting the 2nd job advancement. Everything is about teh same between a sindit and a bandit except for the dark sight and the double stab levels. BanditSins AP- Depends if you want a STR or LUK Dit, most go LUK, either way, its the same AP wise for bandit BanditSins SP- Sindits get SB first to 21 and then get mastery to 19 4th Job Skill Builds? Im not putting 4th job skill builds because they are different for each person, but I will list where to find them, since Fiel of Sleepywood.net can more than likely explain it better than I can. Introduction and Common Skills Common Thief skills, Night Lord Skills, and Shadower Skills Alternate AP Builds: LowDEX, DEXless, Regular DEX LowDEX Thieves use DEX equips so they can meet the amount of DEX required to wear equips and have the most LUK possible. Their base DEX is the total DEX added from their DEX adding equips subtracted from the next equip.’s required DEX. DEXless Thieves have 25 DEX for forever. They use LUK Sauna’s and use LUK capes but use a DEX Snowshoe for some reason, most likely for a bit more accuracy and that their are no LUK for shoe scrolls. They use, depending on their class, Maple weapons, namely the Maple Wagner, Maple Claw and Maple Kandayo. Regular DEX Thieves have the normal amount of DEX and use regular equips (i.e. level 50 china set) -Damage Wise Damage wise, DEXless will do more in 2nd job, while in 3rd job LowDEX will do more thanks to Scarabs and higher attack claws, daggers. Only until level 70 maple claw comes out will DEXless hermits, CBs do more damage. -Funding DEXless and LowDEX (and basically any character in Maple) need funding from a main character to have good stat equips and to be strong. LowDEX don’t need more Meso then DEXless and don’t really need that much to get one started. Of course, with more Mesos, your LowDEX could be even stronger. Damage Calculations Dagger and Throwing Stars - (LUK * 0.9 * 3.6 * Skill Mastery + STR + DEX) / 100 * Weapon Attack Lucky Seven (Maximum Damage for 1 Throwing Star) - [((5.0*LUK)/100)*Weapon Attack)*Damage Percentage] Lucky Seven (Minimum Damage for 1 Throwing Star) - [((2.5*LUK)/100)*Weapon Attack)*Damage Percentage] Credits Mr. Basil, DarkDestiny, Sleepywood.net , and the Beran Community.
