113 Windia Chief Bandit

PirateJing's STR Chief Bandit Guide.

Dang, several patches later, this guide is outdated. If you're unfunded or new to MapleStory, this guide would be a good place to start. :]

Dream to be the Hero

Being a STR Chief Bandit isn't like being a regular Chief Bandit, nor is it like any other class.

You're going to be hindered in this journey. Many obstacles along the way. You'll lack the stats that'll be required. You'll have to take care of three different stats whereas others only regard two. You'll be far behind in damage. You'll be playing as the weakest kind of offensive class in MapleStory. Your class has the lowest HP for being a melee offensive. You won't even be able to take the big hits. Your class is useless except for the Haste that any other Assassin has. You'll level slow. If you aren't already burning money, consider this class one of the most expensive to play.

But in the long run, once you get into the 100's, you'll be pouring Savage Blows over 1,000 easily. You'll be assaultering near the 10,000's. You'll be squeezing mesos out of monsters like water from a sponge. You'll be exploding numbers that ordinary players will usually never attain. You'll be mobbing monsters faster than any other class out there. You'll be faster than any other class. You don't even need a lot of mesos to start, because you're going to be a STR Chief Bandit and I'm going to show you how to be one.

All this.. with dedication.

What You Need to Know First..

For this guide, I will assume you are not very well funded, meaning you have some mesos, but not a lot to wear equipment such as Work Gloves, or Black Snowshoes, Capes, or DEX Earrings. Also, this will be the guide to make the best basic STR Bandit. Though it's not a guide to make a low STR or low DEX Bandit, there will be a section at the end on how to reset your AP to be Low STR and Low DEX.

Also, this build will also work for females, but you may run into some complications when talking about the armor to wear, such as names. The only real difference that might matter will be the Level 35 Female Thief Overall (Avenger). Still assuming that you aren't rich and won't go low DEX, the Level 35 Female Thief Overall (Avenger) won't be much of a problem. Remember, this is a guide to make the best basic STR Bandit.

Also, please keep in mind that this build will take you to Level 120. Although many of you won't make it to even Level 100, I plan to make this guide put basic unfunded STR CBs at their best in the higher levels.

As for the Skill distribution, I've included the best way and the fun way to allocate your SP. That build will not only include regular training Skill distribution, but also a boss build. There's a chance you won't be playing your character for long, but if you're dedicated to your STR Chief Bandit, you'll be strong in the end. :]

P.S., I've also included a 4th Job Skill Distribution section. ;D

What's great is that if you wanted to be a LUK Dit, you can still follow everything in this guide. As for AP distribution, just move all STR into LUK. Voila, a LUK Dit! :O

Show Me the Meso.

Keeping an eye on your wallet, you'll be left as a hobo for awhile. Unless you get ridiculously lucky at finding Steelies or Ilbis, you shouldn't train on things that'll make a black hole in your pants.

Do some quests and party quest often. Hunt with friends, visit the Free Market and look for good sales. If you have a few dollars to spare, burn it at Gachapon and pray you're going to get lucky.

As for your dagger, you should start to scroll it at level 50 if you're decently funded at the moment.

Don't ever Glitch PQ. If you do it, you won't have the same experience as another person of the same level who leveled fairly. Not to mention the fact that you may get banned. It's just a waste of time and money.. :p

The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly.

The Good.
----------------------------
- Bandits are the fastest attacking class in the game.
- Bandits have a skill like the Assassin called "Haste". It speeds up your run and makes you jump higher, lessening the time to move around, being the Melee that you are.
- Bandits have Assaulter, which is like teleporting through whilst damaging the enemy.
- Bandits have the fastest mobbing skill in the game.
- Bandits have high advoidability, higher than any other class in the game except equal to the Assassins.
- Bandits have high accuracy, so you'll probably be least likely to miss.
- When you become a Chief Bandit, you'll have Meso Explosion, the strongest skill in the game. ;]
- When you fight bosses and you use Meso Explosion, you'll get more EXP.
- Chief Bandits have Meso Guard, which allows you to take bigger hits from stronger enemies. It's almost like Hyperbody for yourself!

The Bad.
----------------------------
- Defence is applied to each hit. High defence monsters against Savage Blow makes Savage Blow utterly weak.
- Assaulter has a delay between each attack.
- Skills cost lots of potions thus burning your mesos.
- Meso Guard drains faster as you take bigger hits thus burning more of your mesos.
- Meso explosion uses mesos to explode thus burning whatever you have left of your mesos.
- Bandits don't have any other special ability other than Haste and Meso Explosion.

The Ugly.
----------------------------
- Those who don't have NX.. lolololol.
- Sorry.. :[
- And yeah, the 8x gear is hot.

Creating Your Character

When creating your character and your aim is to make a STR Bandit, make sure you roll the following stats..

STR : 10 or less..
INT : 4
DEX : Any
LUK : Any

You can have any any amount of STR because it'll often never go past 10. Though you won't need STR until you're level 20, it's alright to start off with 10 or less STR. It's great to get past Maple Island with. Not to mention, since you plan to be a STR Bandit, you're going to allocate some points into STR sometime soon anyways.

For DEX and LUK, they also can be any random amount because these two types of stats will be the basis of your Rogue. STR is a side attribute, which will influence your ability to wield a dagger. Not to mention, you'll be able to carry both STR and LUK Daggers. ;]

By Level 10, your stats should be near as followed..

STR : 10
INT : 4
DEX : 25
LUK : 30
+1 Extra Point

Or if you're holding off STR until level 20..

STR : 5
INT : 4
DEX : 25
LUK : 35
+1 Extra Point

You'll have one extra point because your INT is capped at 4. You can put this point anywhere you want, although it's suggested that you allocated it into LUK. Remember to NEVER EVER put points into HP and/or MP. It's highly wasteful.

By choosing either builds, you can equip the Level 12 Dagger (Triangular Zamadar). You should have enough LUK and DEX to equip it. You should also be able to wear the Level 10 Thief Armors (Cloth Vest).

By Level 15, your stats should be near as followed..

STR : 10
INT : 4
DEX : 30
LUK : 50
+1 Extra Point

Or if you're holding off STR until level 20..

STR : 5
INT : 4
DEX : 30
LUK : 55
+1 Extra Point

By choosing either builds, you should be able to equip the Level 15 Dagger (Field Dagger). You should have enough LUK and DEX to equip it. You should also be able to wear the Level 15 Thief Armors (Night).

By Level 17, your stats should be near as followed..

STR : 10
INT : 4
DEX : 35
LUK : 55
+1 Extra Point

Or if you're holding off STR until level 20..

STR : 5
INT : 4
DEX : 35
LUK : 60
+1 Extra Point

By choosing either builds, you should be able to equip the Level 17 Dagger (Triple-Tipped Zamadar). You should have enough LUK and DEX to equip it.

Now, by Level 20, you should have at least 10 STR. If you chose to add STR right before level 20, the good thing is that you can go up to level 19 with a base 5 STR. Once you hit level 20, you'll be given your usual 5 AP. You can allocate it into STR, which makes your Level 20 build the following..

STR : 10
INT : 4
DEX : 40
LUK : 65
+1 Extra Point

You should be able to equip the Level 20 Dagger (Coconut Knife). You should have enough STR and DEX to equip it. You should also be able to wear the Level 20 Thief Armors (Pao).

Also, by choosing either builds, you should be able to equip the Level 22 Dagger (Stinger). Although it wouldn't matter if you bought this dagger, but the stronger dagger may add an edge to your damage. Although it may be an advantage, you should be able to pass through the lower levels quicky, making it unnecessary buying equipment you'll toss away soon.

Now, by Level 25, you should have at least 15 STR. If you chose to add STR right before level 25, the good thing is that you can go up to level 24 with a base 10 STR. Once you hit level 25, you'll be given your usual 5 AP. You can allocate it into STR. Although, I would suggest to raise your STR ASAP hoping the rumors are true. But from now on, I'll assume you know when you want to add your STR, early or late. Anyways, by Level 25, your build should be the following..

STR : 15
INT : 4
DEX : 50
LUK : 75
+1 Extra Point

You should be able to equip the Level 25 Dagger (Iron Dagger). You should have enough STR and DEX to equip it. You should also be able to wear the Level 25 Thief Armors (Sneak).

Also, by choosing either builds, you should be able to equip the Level 27 Dagger (Forked Dagger) only if you add DEX soon enough for it. Although it wouldn't matter if you bought this dagger, but the stronger dagger may add an edge to your damage. Although it may be an advantage, you should be able to pass through the lower levels quicky, making it unneccessary buying equipment you'll toss away soon.

From now on, I'll assume you'll only carry STR-Only Daggers. These Daggers will be the daggers that will not be available to the LUK Bandits unless they're noobs. :]

By Level 30, your build should be the following..

STR : 20
INT : 4
DEX : 60
LUK : 85
+1 Extra Point

You should be able to equip the Level 30 Dagger (Cass). You should have enough STR and DEX to equip it. You should also be able to wear the Level 30 Thief Armors (Stealer).

Also, congratulations on becoming a Bandit. :]

By Level 35, there are no Level 35 STR Daggers. So here, I suggest you add only a little STR.

STR : 25
INT : 4
DEX : 70
LUK : 95
+1 Extra Point

By going this way, you should use a 'Korean Fan (Lv. 35)' or a 'Gephart (Lv. 35)', or hold on to your 'Cass (Lv. 30)' a little longer. Either way, the 'Cass (Lv. 30)' saves you money where the 'Korean Fan (Lv. 35)' or 'Gephart (Lv.35)' saves you time.

You should also be able to wear the Level 35 Thief Armors (Knucklevest). Females can also wear their Level 35 Female Thief Overall (Avenger) without a problem.

By Level 40, your raw build should be the following..

STR : 30
INT : 4
DEX : 80
LUK : 105
+1 Extra Point

You should be able to equip the Level 40 Dagger (Bazlud). You should have enough STR and DEX to equip it. As for the armor, this is where it gets tricky. You'll be lacking 5 AP (not including the extra point). But don't worry, it won't stay that way forever. :]

If you're not so rich, you should go for this method..

You probably won't buy a level 40 Glove and you probably don't have a critical and necessary glove of some type. If you did the 'John’s Present (Level 30)' quest, you'll have received the 'Gold Arbion'. It'll give a bonus of +2 LUK, so that's 3 more LUK to aquire. It'll be 2 LUK if you count the extra point if you allocated it correctly.

If you did the 'Toy Soldier's Walnut (Level 25)' quest, you'll be given 'Iron Chain Shoes (Lv. 30)'. These shoes will give a bonus of +1 LUK, so that's just +2 LUK to aquire (or +1 LUK if you count the extra point if you allocated it correctly).

Also, scroll your Dagger with suggestively 60%s. Since you only need +1 LUK to go, you'll have one chance to get it. If you did the 'A Delivery To A Lost Time (Level 33)', you'll be given a choice to collect a '60% Scroll for Dagger for ATT' or '60% Scroll for Claw for ATT'. If you're smart, you'll pick the '60% Scroll for Dagger for ATT'.

You'll also get three other opportunities to obtain a '60% Scroll for Dagger for ATT', but it'll be random. You'll get a chance to acquire the scrolls by completing 'To The New World (Lv. 40)', 'Jane And The Wild Boar (Lv. 30)', and 'Eos Tower Threatened! (Lv. 35)' quest.

If you're patient enough, you can attempt to complete 'Jane the Alchemist (Lv. 40)', 'To The New World (Lv. 40)', and 'Peace At Eos Tower (Lv. 40)' quest. These will give you a 'Scroll for Gloves for ATT'. Although, the chance between 10% and 60% are random. Either way, if you can sell it, you'll probably be able to buy some '60% Scroll for Dagger for ATT'.

If you're lucky in Ludibrium Party Quests (LPQ), you'll also have a chance to obtain a '60% Scroll for Dagger for ATT'. You'll also get a chance to win some other scrolls, but if they're worth anything, you can can sell those for some funding to buy '60% Scroll for Dagger for ATT'. ^ ^;;

From now on, you should work to scroll your daggers. You're soon to be hitting the levels that require scrolled daggers. If you're not scrolling your daggers, you'll be less efficient than you're supposed to be. :p

So let's assume you over came this problem now.. Your Level 40 build should be close to..

STR : 30
INT : 4
DEX : 80
LUK : 110 (105+5)
+1 Extra Point

or..

STR : 30
INT : 4
DEX : 80
LUK : 110 (106+4)
+0 Extra Points

It just depends how lucky you are.

But from now on, I'll assume you found a way out of this -5 AP obstacle. I'll just note what kind of points you lack. Just remember, it won't be like this forever. :]

By Level 50, your build should be..

STR : 40
INT : 4
DEX : 90
LUK : 140 (135+5)
+1 Extra Point

You should be able to equip the Level 50 Dagger (Sai). You should also be able to wear the Level 50 Thief Armors (China) assuming you filled in the lacking 5 LUK. Unfortunately, you won't be able to use the 'Shinkata (Lv. 50)'. It's a LUK Dagger, but you won't have enough LUK at Level 50 to equip it unless your cape is well scrolled with LUK. But why would you want to hold that thing anyways? x]

..

By Level 60, your build should be..

STR : 50
INT : 4
DEX : 100
LUK : 170 (165+5)
+1 Extra Point

You should be able to equip the Level 60 Dagger (Serpant's Coil). You should also be able to wear the Level 60 Thief Armors (Scorpio) assuming you filled in the lacking 5 LUK.

What's cool is that you'll be able to use the 'Deadly Fin (Lv. 60)'. It's a LUK Dagger, but you'll have enough LUK at Level 60 to equip it assuming you filled in the lacking 5 LUK. But if you want to use the 'Deadly Fin (Lv. 60)', you might as well have started out as a LUK Bandit. But then again, the 'Deadly Fin (Lv. 60)' might be better than your 'Serpant's Coil (Lv. 60)', depending on how it's scrolled. So if you have a stronger 'Deadly Fin (Lv. 60)' in possession, you might as well use it. But the 'Serpant's Coil (Lv. 60)' is generally stronger due to its average Weapon Attack being 3 points higher a 'Deadly Fin (Lv. 60)'.

Though from now on, I'll assume you only use STR Daggers. The cool thing is starting at level 60, you'll always be able to choose between a STR Dagger or a LUK Dagger. :]

Starting with the 'Coconut Knife (Lv. 20)', you always needed 10 less STR than the level required. At level 70, it'll be different. It requires only 5 more STR after the 'Serpant's Coil (Lv. 60)'. So from now on, don't add too much STR. Make sure you follow through this guide carefully or you'll end up allocating too AP in the wrong stats.

Also, after you make your 3rd Job Advancement, they'll give you an extra 5 AP bonus.

By Level 70, before the 3rd Job Advancement, your build should be..

STR : 52
INT : 4
DEX : 110
LUK : 200
+1 Extra Point

You should be able to equip the Level 70 Dagger (Golden River). You should also be able to wear the Level 70 Thief Armors (Stud). Hallelujah! You no longer need to fill in the lacking 5 AP anymore. For all you poor Maplers out there, this is your break. Well, okay. You still had to obtain your gear after level 40 without buying it at the NPC Stores, haha.. :p

Making 3rd Job.

So now congratulations on making your 3rd Job Advancement. You're a Chief Bandit now. Not just a Chief Bandit, but a STR Chief Bandit.

So now you'll have an extra 5 AP to spare. What to do with it? It's up to you. I would suggest you to allocate it into LUK if you want damage.

Assuming you allocated your 3rd Job Advancement bonus 5 AP into LUK, your build should be as followed.

STR : 57 (52+5)
INT : 4
DEX : 110
LUK : 205
+1 Extra Point

Also, wear the 'Goblin Cape (Lv. 65)'. It doesn't have to be scrolled or anything yet..

Right here, I'm going to set your STR capped at 52. That way, in the future when you obtain a 'Zakum Helmet (Lv. 50)', you'll be able to allocate more points into LUK, thus making you stronger.

Also, I'm going to set your DEX capped at 119. That way, in the future when you obtain a 'Zakum Helmet (Lv. 50)', you'll be able to allocate more points into LUK, thus making you stronger. And if you plan to reset some AP Points, it'll save you some money in the future.

So when you're Level 80, you won't be able to wear an 'Angelic Betrayal (Lv. 80)' right away.

By Level 80, your build should be..

STR : 60 (52+8)
INT : 4
DEX : 133 (119+14)
LUK : 259 (249+10)
+1 Extra Point

Now you should also be able to wear the Level 80 Thief Armors (Pirate).
I would suggest you to wear the 'Green Pirate Set (Lv. 80)'.
The 'Green Pireta Hat (Lv. 80)' at average should add +3 DEX, +2 LUK
The 'Green Pirate Top/Blouse (Lv. 80)' at average should add +5 DEX, +1 LUK.
The 'Green Pirate Bottom/Skirt (Lv. 80)' at average should add +3 DEX, +1 LUK.
The 'Green Pirate Boots (Lv. 80)' at average should add +3 STR and +2 LUK.
The 'Blood Larceny (Lv. 80)' at average should add +2 DEX, +4 LUK.
The 'Jurgen Wristguard (Lv. 22)' at average should add +1 DEX.
Also, make sure to have and wear the 'Goblin Cape (Lv. 65)'. It's a reward from the 'Goblin At Black Mountain (Level 60)' quest in 'Korean Folk Town'. It'll give a +5 STR bonus.

You should now be able to equip the Level 80 Dagger (Angelic Betrayal).

By Level 90, your build should be..

STR : 65 (52+13)
INT : 4
DEX : 133 (119+14)
LUK : 309 (299+10)
+1 Extra Point

You shouldn't upgrade to the 'Osfa Set (Lv. 90)' because the stats are rediculously unnecessarily high. To get that last +5 STR, scroll your 'Goblin Cape (Lv. 65)' with '100% Scroll for Cape for STR' scrolls.

You should now be able to equip the Level 90 Dagger (Cursayer). Congratulations. You're now holding the strongest non-Gachapon STR Dagger available at the time this guide was made.

From now on, you should never add anymore STR or DEX. From now on, you will only add LUK to your character. As each level progresses, you'll see how powerful your character will turn out. :]

By Level 100, your build should be..

STR : 65 (52+13)
INT : 4
DEX : 133 (119+14)
LUK : 359 (349+10)
+1 Extra Point

This is without a 'Zakum Helmet (Lv. 50)' and assuming you still wear your 'Green Pirate Set (Lv. 80)'.

The Zakum Helmet

When you're a very experienced player, and very high leveled, you'll be able to start fighting Zakum. Perhaps you'll fight it sooner than you think. If you buy or earn your 'Zakum Helmet (Lv. 50)', you'll be able to remove the 'Green Pirate Set (Lv. 80), that is.. if you don't like the color.

At level 100, I'll assume you have nothing on except for your 'Zakum Helmet (Lv. 50)'. I will also assume it's average, meaning +15 to all stats. Your build should be as followed..

STR : 67 (52+15)
INT : 19 (4+15)
DEX : 134 (119+15)
LUK : 364 (349+15)
+1 Extra Point

If you've got some money to spare, you can reset some points to make your STR CB even stronger!

Resetting Your AP.

Since you don't want to spend TOO much, you'll want to be able to wear your Pirate Set. So you'll have to use the 'Zakum Helmet (Lv. 50)' as a basis of how much to reset. The great thing is, no matter what stats you have, you can still wear a 'Zakum Helmet (Lv. 50)'. So your points can be as low as they need to be.

To hold a 'Cursayer (Lv. 90)', you only need 65 STR and 130 DEX. But don't worry about the 130 DEX. To wear the 'Pirate Set (Lv. 80)', you'll need 120 DEX and 220 LUK.

So move some points around so your build looks like this at Level 100 with an average 'Zakum Helmet (Lv. 50)'..

STR : 65 (50+15)
INT : 19 (4+15)
DEX : 129 (105+24)
LUK : 395 (365+30)
+1 Extra Point

I'll assume you switched to the 'Dark Pirate Set (Lv. 80)', excluding the Dark Pireta Hat, because I assume you have a zHelm.
The 'Zakum Helmet (Lv. 50)' at average should add +15 STR, +15 INT, +15 DEX, +15 LUK.
The 'Dark Pirate Top/Blouse (Lv. 80)' at average should add +1 DEX, +5 LUK.
The 'Dark Pirate Bottom/Skirt (Lv. 80)' at average should add +1 DEX, +3 LUK.
The 'Dark Pirate Boots (Lv. 80)' at average should add +2 DEX and +3 LUK.
The 'Blood Larceny (Lv. 80)' at average should add +2 DEX, +4 LUK.
The 'Jurgen Wristguard (Lv. 22)' at average should add +1 DEX.

At this point, you'll have 126 DEX, 4 DEX short from holding your 'Cursayer (Lv. 90)'. You can get rid of that ugly 'Goblin Cape (Lv. 65)'. Get another cape that'll add at least 1 DEX.

So now you can wear your 'Cursayer (Lv. 90)' again! :D

Difference between non-NX and NX players.

To top it off, if you're not going to reset, your AP Build should be the following..

At Level 100 Basic STR CB (with unscrolled and average 'Green Pirate Set (Lv. 80)' and 'Zakum Helmet (Lv. 50)')
----------------------------
STR : 80 (52+28)
INT : 4
DEX : 147 (119+28)
LUK : 324 (299+25)
+1 Extra Point

If you're going to reset, your AP Build should be the following..

At Level 100 Low STR, Low DEX Chief Bandit (with unscrolled and average 'Dark Pirate Set (Lv. 80)' and 'Zakum Helmet (Lv. 50)')
----------------------------
STR : 65 (50+15)
INT : 19 (4+15)
DEX : 130 (105+25)
LUK : 395 (365+30)
+1 Extra Point

2nd Job Advancement*

*You can also do Dagger Mastery first. I chose to max Savage Blow out first because it looked cooler. :]

*Based on personal preference, you can choose to level up only a little Dagger Booster, and then max out Haste. That's only if you feel like you have to. Either way, you should still end up with the same skills build at level 70.

*Also, you max out Dark Sight so you can run around with haste. It's great to use at Zakum.

3rd Job Advancement*

*You can switch Assaulter with Band of Thieves according to your fighting style. Band of Thieves is great for training in small maps such as 'Forest of Golem'. Assaulter is great for getting around and dealing higher damage against high defence monsters..

*I also chose to do Meso Explosion early, assuming you're going to start fighting bosses early. If you're not, then swith Meso Explosion with Band of Thieves. It's still the same progression. :]

*I also chose to pick a lot of different skills to start with because I wanted to experience a small amount of skills first. One Band of Thieves to go around showing off my "Girlfriend." One Meso Explosion to train and show off with. Chakra is pretty cool when used, but only useful for the prerequisite for Meso Guard.

*You can also max off Band of Thieves or Assaulter according to your taste. If you like to mob fast, then go for Band of Thieves, if you like seeing bigger numbers, add to Assaulter.
