"Can this PC run Maplestory and Zakum?" - Find out here.
Maple story Forums : Maple Story Tech Help & Patches : Talk about problems with Maple Story and Patches Thread starter
Note: This thread is primarily for if you want to know if a PC you wish to purchase or are getting can run it. If you already have the PC, why ask? Either select maple from the drop down list here and let it scan and tell you: link or install maple and just try it yourself. If you still aren't sure with something, then yeah, feel free to ask. Maplestory's minimum/recommended requirements: Processor: Pentium 3 1Ghz processor. Basically, any processor with over 1 Ghz should be able to run maple according to Nexon. You may lag though, so think of a *1.8+ Ghz processor as recommended Ram: 256MB ram does work for some people, but to avoid lag, I wouldn't recommend anything less than 512MB. If you're using vista, *1GB ram would be a bare minimum. Graphics card: Most graphics cards should be fine, even on-board ones often work fine with maple too, so if you have a Geforce or Radeon graphics card, consider it a bonus. Hard Drive: Maple only uses about 1.5gb space once installed. However, in order for your PC to be running properly, you should never really go below 3-5gb space free. Internet speed: This is the most important thing when it comes to lagging such as when monsters freeze, skills lock up, pickup lag. That type of thing. A 128Kbps connection would be a minimum, *1Mbps (1024Kbps) and faster would be ideal. Distance from the servers in California can also be a factor. Locations outside the US may get some lag regardless as to how fast your connection is. How do I find out what my Computer specifications are?: To find out what Ghz your processor is as well as how much RAM you have, right click "My computer">Properties>General tab. They should both be listed there. To double check your hard drive space, right click the hard drive icon in "my computer" and select properties. Used space and free space should be shown. To find out what graphics card you have, hold down the Windows key on your keyboard and press R. In the window that pops up, type in "Dxdiag"(without quotes) and click "OK"In the window that opens, go to the display tab. Your graphics card should be listed in the top left module of the window by "Name:" To check your internet speed, these sites will be able to tell you: link or link After all that, If you're still not sure whether your PC or a PC that you wish to purchase will be able to run Maple, please just reply with the computer's specifications here rather than create a new topic asking and I (or someone else who knows) will reply. I have Windows Vista, will Zakum glitch up if I go on a run? Some people claim that Vista Service Pack 1 has fixed this, however, I haven't seen any such trend. (Confirmation on this would be welcomed though). What I have noticed is that people with a good graphics card usually don't get it on vista at all. This has been confirmed for several Geforce 7 and 8 series cards. In general, I'd bet that most proper graphics cards will prevent the glitch. If you have a different graphics card and have participated in runs while running vista, please do confirm if you are able to kill zakum without it glitching up. See the previous (above) section to find out how to check which graphics card you have. People who just have a basic built-in onboard graphics in their motherboard are usually affected by the glitch. Commonly known ways I've heard of to avoid it if you do not have a proper graphics card are to either alt+tab out at each body change or to change your graphics settings during the run. *= Should be enough for zakum. |
