NEW UPDATES COMING. SECOND JOB PQ GUIDE, MORE SKILL BUILDS, AND MORE TRAINING SPOTS. STAY TUNED This guide is for I/L mages who either don't know where to train, or have problems training there. I will try to explain to you best I can on how to efficiently train at those places. Table of Contents THANKS MAVERICK FOR HELPING MEBeginning of the beginning hehe xD I/L mages:Why? The Dice Roll First Job First Job Skill Path First Job Training Spots First job pq guide Second Job Ice Wiz Pros and Cons Second Job Skill Path Second Job Training Spots Second Job PQ guide Third Job Third Job Skill Path Third Job Training Spots Fourth Job Fourth Job Skill path Fourth Job Training Spots Other random crap Other Training Areas with no description Frequently Asked Questions I/L mage:Why? Some people are asking the question. Why become the I/L mage? Aren't all mages weak, not very useful, and unneeded in boss runs? Technically, these things are true, but the pros of becoming and I/L mage should clear it up. First of all, as the question is, why become and I/L mage? I'll get rid of the ugly cons first, xD *Note*This is for all through first and fourth job pro and cons. I'll have seperate ones per section. Cons They're pot absorbing in the early levels. You don't need fundings, just smart money choices. They're not as needed in PQ's as say, clerics and spearmans and sins. Their damage is weak compared to the other jobs in the later levels. Alrighty, done with the ugly cons(if you have more, I MIGHT add them :D) Now for the amazing super pros Pros They can freeze all monsters that aren't ice based or bosses. They can even freeze MOB after third job They're the first mage job to be able to mob in the second job. Some people are saying,"But clerics can mob up those undead monsters!" Most people don't consider the clerics heal as a mob skill because it can only work on undead monsters, the skill doesn't give an actualy damage and mastery and etc, and it's not very reliable for fast killing in the early levels. They're the strongest in the beginning of second job, which is where most people are right now. They technically don't have a "hell" because lightning is good enough for mobbing before the so called hell ends for third job, cold beam for freezing, and so forth. They have an awesome AOE affect that can also FREEZE. The Dice Roll You might think the dice roll isn't important, and that you can always change it later on, but that's not true. You MUST have a decent dice roll if you don't want to spend millions on godly equipment to boost your power. So what dice roll should you get, besides just clicking yes on the first one you get? Basically, the godliest roll you can get is 4 str, 4 dex, anything on int and luck, int higher is prefered. Since mages have no use for str and dex, since their accuracy and power come from int, there is absolutely NO NEED for them unless you intend on making a str mage, in which case this guide is not the one for you. First Job Skill Path(s) This is a new section I added in case some people are also wondering about the skill path. I may add more then 1, so keep reading on. Skill Path(aka my way, weird but works xD) 8. 1 energy bolt 9. 3 MP recovery 10. 5 MP recovery, 1 MP increase 11. 4 MP increase 12. 7 MP increase 13. 10 MP increase(max) 14. 3 Magic Claw 15. 6 Magic Claw 16. 9 Magic Claw 17. 10 Magic Claw, 2 Magic Guard 18. 5 Magic Guard 19. 8 Magic Guard 20. 10 Magic Guard, 11 Magic Claw 21. 14 Magic Claw 22. 17 Magic Claw 23. 20 Magic Claw(Max) 24. 13 Magic Guard 25. 16 Magic Guard 26. 19 Magic Guard 27. 20 Magic Guard(max), 7 MP recovery 28. 10 MP recovery 29. 13 MP recovery 30. 16 MP recovery Basically, this build will give you moderate MP, and balances out your Magic Claw and Magic Guard in the early levels, so you don't scream with frustration at either the weak damage or the continuous pot usage. I chose magic claw 10 first because the training spots then don't give too much damage, so when you get the magic guard, you'll be ready ^_^ More MP 8.1 MP Recovery 9.4 MP Recovery 10.5 MP Recovery, 2 MP Increase 11.5 MP Increase 12.8 MP Increase 13.10 MP Increase, 1 Energy Bolt 14-18*Max MP Recovery 18-25*Max Magic Guard 25-30*Max Magic Claw Common Build 1.1 Energy Bolt 2.5 MP Recovery 3.Max MP Increase 4.Max MP Recovery *5.Max Magic Claw *6.Max Magic Guard This build is the original build that most players use. Unlike my build, it maxes Magic Claw and Magic Guard all at once, instead of slowly. Once again, Magic Claw and Magic Guard can be maxed in any order. This build allows you to have more MP then usual mages, but alot more boring. All you can do up till level 13 is just stay at Henesys Hunting Ground 1 and whack the lower levels of snails. Really really boring. The last 3 can also be maxed in any way you wish. First Job Training Spots Henesys Hunting Ground 1 8-13 Since you should probably only be coming here if you took the higher MP build, all you should do is stay on the lowest level and whack the blue and green snails. And if for beginner skills, you added three snails to at least level 2, you can use these on the red snails. Just move back and forth left and right. Dungeon, Southern Forest I, aka Slime Tree 8-16 This is, as the name calls it, a tree. Yes, most people would say come here later, but I recommend coming here earlier. You just start from the top or bottom portal, and start killing in those places, no matter how many slimes are there. Bring lots of mp pots for the early levels. After a few rounds of going top to bottom or bottom to top, you can "feel the flow" which WILL level you like MAD. Better then snails anyways. O.o Pig Beach 13-18 You can come here if you have the money and want challenge besides boring slimes. Just move from the left to far right, go up the ladder, keep killing to the left, drop down, and continue the cycle. Caution Falling Down 18-28 This is a two platform map with excellent spawn. Just move between the two platforms. Pretty darned simple. Dungeon: Southern Forest IV 18-23 You know how most guides say to leave pig beach later? Well, this is why you should leave earlier. It's really fast exp, and made even more so since the majority of the monsters there are Horny Mushrooms, which have no magic defense. Just start from top and go down with a sweeping pattern, left to right, or right to left, or just go straight down. Ant Tunnel I 23-28 This area is very easy to navigate. Just go down to the very bottom of the map, where it's the best training. Switch between the two bottom platforms, but only when the spawn has run out, which gives more spawn on the other platforms. Land of Wild Boar 23-30 This is a relatively long, flat map, with 3 platforms. Start from the left side, and go all the way to the right side, go back towards the middle, go up the ladder, kill to the right side, back to middle, up the ladder, and do it again. Be careful of the Jr. Boogie which you can't kill until high 2x or 3x. Luckily, now that they added those stones on the top of the map, it's easy to kill em. Land of Wild Boar II 23-30 This is about the same thing as Land of Wild Boar, but it's a smaller map with no Jr Boogies. Just travel in a circle around this map, because it's just basically a circle, O.o Excavation Site III This area is SLIGHTLY similar to the wild boar map. It has 3 platforms, but the top 2 are about the same size as each other. Just move from bottom, top, middle, and bottom again. I know it sounds weird, but it works for me. PQ Guide for first job Henesys PQ You're job in this pq is basically to either kill the monsters or just stand aside and let the lurer do it, and just kill the strays, and get the flowers. Pretty straightfoward. Kerning PQ This is also a very easy guide. You're job, if you're not 30 yet, is to just help get by stage 1, since you're basically the strongest in KPQ. For stages 2-4, just listen to what the leader says for you to do if they're exped. For the Last Stage, help get the 10 tickets for the leader and help kill the King Slime, since, with magic guard, you survive the easiest. Ice Lightning Wizard Pro and Cons Cons They're very pot draining if you go lightning first, and the good training spots are also pot draining They're not very useful in PQ's You get ksed easily in the good training spots Pros Once you max MP eater, you'll use almost no MP pots at all, since it'll drain the MP right back They're awesome in CPQ since they have lightning They can FREEZE monsters, allowing you to not get hit both physically and with magic You can find most of your equips in training spots or NPC's Second Job Skill Path(s) 30. 1 teleport 31. 3 Cold Beam 32. 6 Cold Beam 33. 9 Cold Beam 34. 12 Cold Beam 35. 15 Cold Beam 36. 18 Cold Beam 37. 21 Cold Beam 38. 24 Cold Beam 39. 27 Cold Beam 40. 30 Cold Beam(max) 41. 3 Thunder 42. 6 Thunder 43. 9 Thunder 44. 12 Thunder 45. 15 Thunder 46. 18 Thunder 47. 21 Thunder 48. 24 Thunder 49. 27 Thunder 50. 30 Thunder (max) 51. 3 MP Eater 52. 3 Meditation 53. 6 Meditation 54. 9 Meditation 55. 12 Meditation 56. 15 Meditation 57. 18 Meditation 58. 20 Meditation(max) 4 MP Eater or Slow 59. 7 whatever you chose 60. 10 whatever you chose 61. 13 whatever you chose 62. 16 whatever you chose 63. 19 whatever you chose 64. 20 whatever you chose(max) 3 Teleport or the one you didn't max earlier, either MP Eater or Slow 65. 6 whatever you chose this time 66. 9 whatever you chose this time 67. 12 whatever you chose this time 68. 15 whatever you chose this time 69. 18 whatever you chose this time 70. 20 whatever you chose this time(max), 1 on either more teleport if you didn't choose it or magic armour. This one is the standard i/l build that most people take, which is ice first. Most people decide to max MP eater then max teleport, which will allow them to do something in GPQ and less MP usage. For the free point, magic armour is recommended, at least in my point of view, because it actually lasts awhile at level 1 and does something, while Slow is noticable for 2 seconds. Either way, it's your choice. It's NOT recommended, however, to only have 2 teleport, but it's only there if you really don't care. Lightning First 1.1 Teleport 2.30 Lightning(max) 3*.30 Cold Beam(max) 4*.3 MP Eater 5*.20 Meditation(max) 6*.MP Eater or Slow 7*.w/e you didn't choose. 8*.1 free point This build is relatively the exact same thing as the first one, except for the fact that you get lightning first before ice. After that, it's basically the exact same thing as the ice first build, but you still have choices.* means that you can max it in any order you wish, if you want to experiment Second Job Terrace Hall, 30-35 This is a great map with lots of spawn. Just start from the portal, go to the left or right side, kill until you reach the other side, go up the ladder, kill that platform, go down, kill to the other side, go up the ladder, kill that platform, and repeat. The Burnt Land II 35-40 Go to the small stepping platforms on the left, and drop down. Kill until you reach the right side, then go up the ladder, and kill the now large spawn there. Go all the way left until your starting point, and repeat. The Garden of Red I and Garden of Yellow I 40-48 These maps are basically the same thing. Just start from the bottom platform, then the second platform, until the top platform. Then you have a choice: Either you go back down the platforms, or just immediatley drop down to the bottom platform. Either way works. Purple Plains 1, 40-50 This map you don't really need a section, but w/e The Garden of Red II, and The Garden of Yellow II 50-58 This area is very easy to navigate. Just move from the portal, kill the whole bottom, then move up onto the second part, up to the third, then once again, like the gardens I, you have a choice: Either go back down one by one, or just drop down. I chose drop down :D Secret Spa 50-60 Having teleport really helps here because the monsters are very fast here but maxed lightning is crucial. Try to mob as much as you can at the bottom level. But this place is an extreme pot burner at early 5x AND you'll must likely need MG and quick reaction to survive here. Dangerous Cave 50-60 Just stand on the very right edge and spam lightning like hell. Works wonders if you have MP Eater at a good level, cause basically no pot usage at all. Jr Yetis(unknown spot) 50-70 The map directly right of el nath, this area basically speaks for itself. Just use lightning to mob them up, and move from the bottom left, up the top, and down the bottom right, move left towards the bottom left, and repeat. Night at the Forest60-70 This is a completely flat map. Just start from the right or left side, and tele all the way, either mobbing them up until the other side, then finishing with lightning, or just iceing them all up. Mu Lung Practice Field: Beginner 60-80 Mob from left to right or left to right. May be KSers here Haunted House Vanity Room 58-80 Just stand in the middle of the map and mob them up with lightning. Forest of Golems, or FoG 65-75 For this training spot, it depends. If you're stuck with the top two platforms, then alternate between the two, when ones spawn is almost out. If you have the third or bottom plat, just move left to right. Monkey Forest II ?-?(credit GuitarLover2 This place has great spawn. Mob one platform and then the top, then back again and when the spawn gets low just go to the bottum and spawn kill. They're like pirates, constant, but easier. Helios Tower 99th floor 55-75 There is this one screw that you can just stand on and spam lightning. Learn the sniping points and abuse Teleport to keep spawn up. Caution Falling Down ?-? This is a flat 2 platform map with very good spawn. Just alternate between the platforms going left and right or right and left. Second Job PQ guide Third Job Skill Path Thanks Peeex for help There are two builds people use. The first is without thunder spear just because it becomes useless after 4th job and it's usually maxed out later. All points go into slow and booster instead. This is the build: Level 70: +1 Ice Strike Level 71-79: +3 Ice Strike Level 80: +3 Amp Level 81-83: +3 Booster Level 84: +2 Booster, 1 seal Level 85: +2 Ice strike, +1 Amp Level 86-93: +3 Amp Level 94: +2 Amp, +1 Comp Level 95-103: +3 Comp Level 104: +2 Comp, +1 PR Level 105-110: +3 Slow Level 111: +1 Slow, +2 Seal Level 112-116: +3 Seal Level 117: +2 Seal, +1 Booster Level 118-119: +3 Booster Level 120 +2 Booster, +1 TS Final: 30 IS, 20 Booster, 30 Amp, 20 Seal, 20 Slow (2nd job, 19 points put in 3rd job), 1 TS, 30 Comp, 1 PR = 151 total points Before 4th job came out, builds usually went like so: Level 70: +1 Ice Strike Level 71-79: +3 Ice Strike Level 80: +3 Amp Level 81-83: +3 Booster Level 84: +2 Booster, 1 seal Level 85: +2 Ice strike, +1 Amp Level 86-93: +3 Amp Level 94: +2 Amp, +1 Comp Level 95-103: +3 Comp Level 104: +2 Comp, +1 TS Level 105-113: +3 TS Level 114: +2 TS, +1 Seal Level 115-119: +3 Seal Level 120: +1 Seal, +1 Partial Resistance Final: 30 IS, 11 Booster, 30 Amp, 19 Seal, 30 TS, 30 Comp, 1 PR = 151 total points Maxing any other skills before ice strike and amp (and getting 11 booster) usually lead to suicide and boredom. Third Job Herb Town Red-Nose Pirate Den 2,73-85 There are a few sniping spots here, but only if you know how to use em. Either stand on the stairs or go up onto that area on the right where you can teleport up. Only use Ice Strike. They have a magic attack too, so beware. They slash with their swords, and once you're too far away, they just chase you. So use Ice Strike MesoGears Wolf Spider Cavern 72-95 If you're low level, like me when I went there Warped Path of Time 80-90 There are plenty of sniping spots in this map; buffoons are weak to fire, so it's not very good exp when you have max Ice Strike. Forgotten Path, The Path of Strength, Upper Ascent, Cavern of Fear, Cavern of Shame, Cavern of Fortitude(FireBrands) (The best known training spot as of now known will probably is the bottom cave in the Lower area of the mountains, with Stormbreakers.)Credit fire2966 There is unknown info as of now, except for:They have two forms, one neutral to fire and one weak to fire. Combined, their HP is 66k and their EXP is 3260. That's an EXP: HP ratio of around 20.245, a little lower than red kents' 23.125. They also have 10k MP, so you can use MG without using MP pots. Area of Red Kentaurus 75-93(credit street253) When training at red kentas at lvl 75 your ice strike is not strong enough to knock them back yet,so while training in this area it is best to attack a mob on the outside. The area of red kentas map has two areas that are flat and have small hills. Use the small hills as an advantage to gain more of a ice strike range when attacking the kentas. When you are able to knock back kentas at a good rate you should start standing in the middle of the mobs and move with the mobs while you knock them back. Himes 93-115 it really is just Ice Striking from one end of the map to the other and back. Unless you have a partner, do NOT try to mob to one side and the mob will be entirely to large for your IS to handle. The key to training here is tele-casting (not going to explain what it is, because if you're 9x, and you don't know, there's a problem). Just IS, and if you have to, tele-cast IS backwards, cast IS again (it'll catch the forward most of the mob) and proceed to move forward again. Also, try to never have more than one or two Himes behind you at any time. Any more than that, and you'll find yourself in a very precarious situation. And watch out for a Crow spawn at any time (although usually, at least in my server, several high levels make it a point to clear the channels once a day, if not more). At worst, you could more than likely pay a NL or Hero to clear a channel for you for the cost of an Onyx Apple. Red Wyvern's Nest 95-105(credit street253) In order to train here you must have max ice strike because of the great sniping areas. When you first enter the map you will see many sniping areas. While training here you save a large amount of pots, wyverns drop 800-900 mesos so you will be gaining money while you train. The spawn rate for wyverns are good its is best to take out the wyverns on the far bottom because of the small range. link You can actually come here at 87 or 88, because that's when you stop missing. It's major pot usage, but the money gained there, even at that low level, is basically enough to cover back up the expenses. Destroyed Dragon Nest 100-200(possibly) This is similar to the next one. Jr Newties spawn here as well as Nest Golems(I think, more info please?) Before you hit fourth job, you'll need a good party. Work either clockwise or move from platform to platform and attack with Ice Strike. When fourth job, stand in the middle so they can't hit you, and use blizzard. Skele/Nest Golems at Peak of the Big Nest 115-120 Work in a clockwise motion. Hit the first couple Skele on the top left with Ice Strike, seal them, tele to the middle, then wait for them to unfreeze and walk over to you (as they can't use their magic attack for being sealed), then spam IS until dead. Repeat for top right, bottom right on Nest Golems, and bottom left on Nest Golems. Fourth Job Skill Path Note, this section is still very imcomplete, so more info is always welcome. All credit goes to ImperialBob for this section, so if it says, "I" it means Imperial. If you followed this build, I assume you had enough money for all the skill books. For the rest, you could also add them on whatever you want, since they're luxury skills congratulating your high level ^_^ 1. 1 Bliz (for training purposes), 1 CL, 1 MW *2. Max MW *3. Max CL 4. 5 Ice Demon 5. Max Ifrit 6. Max Hero's Will 7. Max Mana Reflection 8. Max Blizzard 9. Max Infinity 10. Max Big Bang *2 and 3 are interchangable really, that'd just be my personal preference. This is the standard *bossing build* This one would be the training build for those that don't wish to use Blizzard: 1. 1 Ice Demon, 1 CL, 1 MW 2. 7 Ice Demon 3. 10 Ifrit *4. Max MW *5. Max CL 6. Alternate Ice Demon and Ifrit until maxed, Ice Demon taking priority 7. Max Mana Reflection 8. Max Blizzard 9. Max Hero's Will 10. Max Infinity 11. Max Big Bang *Again, MW and CL are interchangable, MW just being my preference. People should be aware, training will just be all kinds of agonizingly slow without using Bliz. 1 Bliz, 1 ID, 1 MW 4 ID (5) 1 Ifrit 30 CL 8 MW (9) 17 Bliz (18) *Next is bringing Bliz to 20, and maxing Ifrit, as I'm not paying the ridiculous amount for Bliz 30 that it costs* Fourth Job Training spots Destroyed Dragon Nest 120+ THE Bliz spamming spot. Stand on the one platform all the way to the right, in between the top and middle platforms and Bliz to your heart's content. Be wary of the Newtie that spawns right next to you. Seal or IS him on spawn, then go back to using Bliz. It takes a little bit of practice to learn how to effectively train here without too much trouble. Pay attention to your MP so you learn to pot as little as possible, but still being able to ALWAYS take a hit from a Newtie. Learn the spawn rate. And then figure out exactly where to stand on the plat so you can reach the far left Newtie, but still not fall off the plat if you get hit by the one right next to you. Sky Nest II 120+ Another Bliz spamming spot. Exp isn't as good (maybe half that of Newties), but this would be where you would go to get not garbage exp, while trying to make money at the same time. Mainly you go for the money, as both types of Harps drop Steelys Encounter with the Buddha 120+ This would be where you train if you took the training build for NOT spamming Bliz. Ice Demon a mob, with Ifrit summoned, then cast CL and let Ifrit attack until dead. Repeat *Note* this section is the most incomplete section of this guide. If there are more specific levels and more training spots, it will be gladly added and you will be given the correct credit Other Training areas Alot of people have PMed me with some pretty good training spots that just don't have a good training description. I know it's now a real guide and not just a training guide, but I still like the thought of that. So here's a section for those training spots. Some will have a description, but not a training description. And others that are blank means I know squat about them. Death Teddies 75-85 These big dead bear thingies with some weird thing on top of em deal over 1k dmg, not quite the damage of Wolf Spiders, luckily. You'll have to spend some time learning how to navigate around these things and where to snipe, even though nexon took out alot of the good sniping spots, curse them. Once you get a decent level of IS, you can hit almost everything xD. Bains 80-90 Squids, Lethal Squids 85-100 Gobies 85-100+ These are very annoying to kill, considering that you usually have to kill the houses first, and they're not weak to ice. Just either Magic Claw it to death or get a party. Viking, Gigantic Viking 85-100+ FAQ Q:Why are some of the skill build formats long, then just numbered on the way, then level ranges? ABecause, I first started out with every level, I put in what you put in that level. Then, I switched to just the order of maxing and etc. And the people who helped post more skill builds posted it their way. Q:Are there more training spots then the ones you put in? ADefinetely. These are just training spot which I know of personal reference. The others are above the FAQ, and only some of them. Q:So, what kind of guide IS this exactly? A:Well, it just started out as a guide with only monsters to train on, with descriptions on HOW to train there effectively. Then I decided to move it on to the next level, as a complete guide. Q:What's worth more maxing first? Cold Beam or Thunder? A:Well, most people would say ice first back in the old days, since it allows you train on fire boars and other ice weak monsters which give decent drops. But now that Carnival PQ is out, some would say lightning, since you can mob up the monsters will sins or dits finish em off. Q:OH NO! I PUT TOO MUCH SP ON DEX/STR. Should I restart? A:Well, actually, you don't. As long as it's not too many levels worth, or just a few, you're still good to go. Just get some other luk capes or earrings to make up for it. And if you can, buy Ap resets. Q:Dangit, I'm draining too much money, and monsters that should drop good stuff aren't dropping anything A:Well, if you're really running out of money and hunting is unlucky for you, if you're still second job minus, stay with KPQ and try to lead, so you don't use very many pots, and bonus can give good exp. If you're higher then that though, just CPQ. You don't use any pots at all, and once you get 50 coins, get a Necklace, which you can sell for quite a bit. And if you're the level for Sakura Cellions, go there for good money, about 250-350 mesos per kill. If you have any questions and or comments, PM me or post it, and I will see it as soon as possible Credits Hidden-Street.net for locations of monsters.
