1. Double Click on the Avast icon. Screenshot 2. In the "avast! On-Access Scanner" window that opens, click "Details". Screenshot 3. Scroll down to "Standard Shield". Screenshot 4. Click "Customize..." Screenshot 5. On the "Advanced" tab, click "Add" Screenshot 6. Type in: "C:\Nexon\Maplestory\Maplestory.exe" and then click ok on each window. Screenshot Where "C" is the letter of the hard drive on which your maplestory installation is installed. Those with Maplestory installed on "Local Disk D:" for example must replace "C" with "D" 7. Happy Mapling! Screenshot In the unlikely case that the problem persists, please post a screenshot of the trojan popup given by avast. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ If you accidentally added maplestory.exe to the virus chest when you first go this Trojan Horse alert, here is how to restore the file: 1. Right click the Avast icon. 2. Select "Start avast! Antivirus" 3. Once it opens, click on the virus chest icon. (If you aren't sure which it is, hover over each button for a popup with the name/description) 4. In the avast! Virus Chest window that opens, right click on the "Maplestory.exe" entry and select "Restore". (Sorry, no screenshots this time). If you accidentally deleted maplestory.exe when you first got this Trojan Horse alert, you will need to reinstall maplestory: Direct link to mssetup.exe for convenience: link Much appreciation to all the users who have been helping with this problem up until now. I had seen some other solutions, probably some of yours too, but hadn't tried any. I just added the file listed by the trojan alert to the exceptions list. __________________________________________________ tjandeni said: "I've followed all steps but i still get the trojan horse detection when i click on maple" Please screenshot the trojan horse alert by avast. It will show which file needs to be added to the exception list. If it's C:\Nexon\MapleStory\MapleStory.exe, put that. If it's D:\, put that. As for the fix, 's nice someone posted it. No clue why I didn't. o_o Probably because I don't basil enough. miks said: "I don't use virus programs, and I haven't got any virus (knocks wood). I just don't go on sites that may be risky." How do you know you haven't got a virus if you don't use them? o_o You may have them, and just not notice. (not all virus cause pop ups or stuff, some just steal your bandwidth or the like) tjandeni said: "It worked Thanks mindstormer xD" Great, I'll make a note on the drive for any other users running off another hard drive. I've added a few more things and tweaked the instructions. Hopefully everything is as understandable as possible now. Thanks yennefer for the tip on removing it from the Virus chest. I hadn't thought of that. Okay I've gone through the step twice (once with c&p and also by typing it in) and I double checked that maplestory is in C: and it definitely still won't work >:[ And I had added and restored it from the chest New Blog: I'm thinking about starting a new trend
