What are you talking about? Usually after people go to squids with me once, they ask to go again for about a week after. >_>;Just get out of that annoying second job range, and unless you mist in towns, people probably won't "look down upon you," or whatever. Oh, except for some of the members of your own class who are in their 140's or so, who just love to call mages below level 100 noobs. Jackasses. >_>
Do NOT watch the videos gandalf linked from Aimm, because they are completely incorrect and biased. I myself have talked to Aimm the creator and, throughout our discussions, have heard him repeatedly say "ok, you're right," and currently disowns his first video because he understands everything in it is incorrect now. Currently he plays an I/L too and says he loves playing the I/L just as much as the F/P, maybe more, and again continuously admits to many flaws in his videos. In short, he told me he didn't understand how many factors were involved in all of the claims he was making, and thus takes back many of them.On-topic: We're hated so much because he have bad single-target damage. That's it. Once you get to 4th job, people actually want to train with you since you have Meteo. Note, though, that this is your chance to do many things with new power. You can choose to take revenge on the worst people and not train with them, or you can be the better person and train with them, but make them pay per hour or something. The point is that life DOES get better, even if I'm not allowed in HT runs yet cause I'm only level 150. Basically, all other classes are great at single-target damage, while Mages are best at mob damage, meaning we train faster than any other class. But because bosses, which drive many parts of this game, are single-target, we're not liked for anything outside of training. Elemental weapons will only give this problem a small cure, but in the end we won't ever be wanted over a non-mage class for single target DPS. It's how the game works, sad to say.
@gamerdude292We weak in single target?All I know is paralyze beat all i/l single target skill ,and fire demon beat all i/l mobbing skill (not to mention our ulti) Well I think the reason y aimm enjoy playing i/l is because, she have too much hard time on f/p and when she play i/l she felt that is so relaxing. agreed that u say mage is weak in bossing,and is the weakest.But it is not that sad to say that cuz in bossing we are still better than i/l.

F/P Arch Mages have weak 1v1 damage. The fact that I/L Arch Mages have weaker 1v1 damage doesn't mean F/P doesn't have weak 1v1 damage. Any Hero/Archer/Night Lord will outdamage you like 4 times when fighting 1v1. F/Ps (and magicians in general) are pathetic when it comes down to bosses. And at bosses is where people compare their classes. (lulz, u nub, I haev cilbis, 18att bwg, 12dex5att pink caep n 70att skanda I outdaemge u nub) But hey, who cares what they think. As long as you have fun in playing your class. A game is meant to have fun, not to be a reflection of real life. (where you have to have a big house and expensive german car and a good job)
Have to agree w/ Atruya. Compare I/Ls and F/Ps all you want but in the end, you play a mage for fun, not for the huge damage at bosses.Besides, there's a number of things that weren't considered with these comparisons. CL is slightly faster than paralyze and at zakum, can hit 3 zak arms, while paralyze can't. Granted, paralyze is better for zak body, but in this case, CL and paralyze break even, so I wouldn't say F/P are always better than I/L for bossing. Also, you can't compare CL to FD in terms of mobbing. You're comparing a skill meant for bossing with a skill meant for mobbing. Not surprising that FD wins? And yes ID is weaker than FD, but ID20 is fairly common while FD20 is not. Not to take away from the damage comparison but realistically, if you can't get more than 10 in FD and an I/L can easily have more than 10 in ID, who does more damage mobbing?

@Atruyayea I know that,but did I mean mage class have strong 1v1 skill?just mean that we have stronger 1v1 skill than i/l.

But again he and another above poster are correct in that F/Ps and I/Ls break even for 1 v 1 skills. When comparing skills you can never look simply at the big damij a skill puts out based on it's base power; rather, you have to factor in the other attributes of the skill, such as if it hits multiple targets for splash damage (CL), or if it freezes monsters (Paralyze), plus you have to put these figures into DPS formulas by multiplying them by the casts per minute of the skill, which can be found on several websites. In short, and I've talked to Aimm about this as well, there are so many factors involved with different skills that comparing two and bluntly saying one class is better because that skill is better is completely inaccurate.
