3 About Me

I play Maple Story as an Ice/Lightning Wizard named Slatterbow in Bera. At the
time I am writing this, it is lvl 45. I can train many new people for free.
I might even give you mesos.

update: I'm 63 and I quit in summer of 2008. Don't ask for mesos/items, since I
quit and won't go back on.

Maple Story Classes

********************************************************************************

1 Magicians

Magicians are basically spellcasters. They have the highest MP and lowest HP.
They are known as KSers (Kill Stealers (I'll explain later)). They can attack
from far or close. They have different kinds of spells to help them in battle.
They use magic of course. The magician armors have high magic defense.

2 Warriors

Warriors are close ranged fighters who can only attack when near a monster, not
far from it. They have a lot of HP and very little MP. They can do high damage
compared to other classes. The warrior armors have high weapon defense.

3 Bowman

Bowman use bows and arrows to attack far. When monsters come up close to them
they can attempt to knock-back the enemy. The HP and MP about average. There are
2 kinds of bowman: Bowman and Crossbowman. Crossbowman do more damage, but
bowman have better knock-back rate.

4 Thieves

Thieves are fast attackers that either throw stars or use use daggers (your
choice). Their HP is a bit higher than thier MP. Everything about a thief is
almost about speed.

*********************************************************************************
Starting Out

*********************************************************************************

1 Creating a Character and Stats

After downloading and installing MapleStory and getting a Nexon passport at
link, open Maple Story. You have to login. Select the world and channel
and then click create a character.

Design the looks and weapon. The best weapon is the wooden club. It has the most
weapon attack of the weapons you can choose.

Now for stats. Keep clicking the red die until you get something like this:

STR: 4/5/6
DEX: 4/5/6
INT: ANY
LUK: ANY

Try to get a 4/5 in STR and DEX. 6 is ok, but most people don't recommend it.
The LUK and INT don't matter, but it's best to have more INT since the more
INT you have, the more MP you get and magicians use a lot of MP.

After that choose a good character name. Make sure the name isn't your real name.
It's best to be creative and name something related to your job or your
personality.

2 Luckless Magicians

Luckless magicians try to get the following stat role:

STR: 4/5/6
DEX: 4/5/6
INT: ANY
LUK: 4/5/6

That's very hard. But the good thing about being luckless is that every point
goes into INT which makes your magic stronger. That makes you do more damage
and level up faster.

The bad thing is that luckless mages can't wear common mage equips and lose a
full 10% exp when they die. That's bad. Normal mages lose 5%.

Also, luckless mages require funding. If you don't have another character on the
same world with a lot of money (around 5-10 mil mesos), then it will be VERY
hard. Luckless mages have to use low level mage equips that require 0 LUK, and
those equips have to be godly scrolled.

3 Maple Island Training

YOU ARE NOW A BEGINNER, NOT A MAGICIAN. YOU BECOME A MAGICIAN AT LEVEL 8.
When you start out, double-click the NPC (Non-PLaying Character). She will ask
you if you want to go through a training program. Click yes. It's a good program
and you can get free potions from the quests it has.

Once you are done with that, go fight the green and blue snails and shrooms.
Anything else will MURDER you. That includes: Red snails, Orange mushrooms,
pigs, slimes, stumps, and anything that does over 5 damage to you.

As for the stats (AP points):

You get 5 AP (Ability Points) every time you level up.
Just increase your INT until level 7. When you get to level 7, put enough points
into LUK so that it's 3 above your level. The rest is in INT. NEVER PUT ANY
POINTS INTO STR OR DEX. IT WILL MESS YOUR CHARACTER UP BADLY. From now on, make
sure that your LUK is 3 above your level. If you are luckless all points into
INT. So for regular mages, if your level is 7, your LUK should be 10. When you
get to level 8, your LUK should be 11.

You get 1 SP (Skill Points) when you level up.
When you become a magician, you get 3 SP every level.
There are 3 beginner skills you get. They are Three Snails, Recovery, and Nimble
Feet.

Three Snails lets you throw snail shells at monsters. At max level, 40 damage.
Recovery uses MP to recover your HP for a certain time. Nimble Feet increases
your walking speed for about 12 seconds. The speed is great. The time sucks.

Do not get Three Snails as it might be usefull, but recovery and Nimble feet are
more important. If you want to fight red snails and other monsters that do a lot
of damage, then recovery is almost required.

First max out Nimble Feet. Use it to run away from higher level monsters.
Then get recovery. After that, you get no more SP for beginner skills.

For training, just stick with green snails, blue snails, and those little
shrooms. Anything else will MURDER you. Make sure you collect everything that
you get when you kill a monster.

When you get to lvl 8, go to South Perry. Go all the way to the right and you
should find a big ship. Talk to a man named Shanks. He might have a quest or
he might not. If he doesn't just click the "I'd like to go to Victoria Island"
option. If he does have a quest, click it, and it will take you to Victoria
for free. Otherwise you have to pay 150 mesos, which isn't that much.

4 Quests

The quests in Maple Island give good experience (exp) for you levels there.
Talk to any npc with a lightbulb above their head and they will give you a
quest. Listen to their instructions CAREFULLY. When you are done with a quest,
you have to either return to the npc or go to another npc which the first npc
will tell you. The quests are fairly simple.

Therea are some quests that will require you to kill higher lvl monsters.
Don't talk to an npc named Biggs. He has 2 quests that require you to kill
pigs and orange mushrooms.

5 Things to Buy/Sell

You can sell any monster drop, but if a monster drops an equip, then either wear
it or sell it. Wear it if it's lvl 8 or below, otherwise sell it. At lvl 5,
you might want to buy a razor which is better than a wooden club, sword, or axe.
It's 500 mesos, so that's kind of expensive... for low levels.

Don't sell anything that required for a quest that you know you need. Don't buy
potions. You won't need them, since you don't lose exp when you die. Just hit
the brown boxes and they will give mesos or potions or both... or none.

If you buy a new weapon, then sell the old one unless it's worth 1 meso.

*********************************************************************************
Being A Magician

*********************************************************************************

1 Where to go

Once you are lvl 8, have atleast 20 INT (you should have about 35-40 if you
followed the rules here), go to Grendel the Really Old. He is located in the
top of Ellinia. To get to Ellinia, you can:

Take the cab in lith harbor (his name is Phil)
Walk there (not recommended)
Get a scroll from someone and use it

If you walk there, make sure that you don't level up. If you do, you MUST make a
new character. If you want a scroll, most people will ask for money which you
need for equips. And the money the cab requires is cheaper since you are a
beginner and beginners get a 90% discount. So just use the cab. He is to the
left of lith harbor, but right of the big ship. His name is Phil, and unlike
most cabs, he is a person.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T TALK TO THE BLACK VIP CAB! IT WILL TAKE YOU TO A PLACE
WHERE YOU WILL CONSTANTLY DIE AND THERE IS NO CAB THERE TO GET BACK!

Once you get to Ellinia, go all the way to the top of it. There is a portal that
leads to the magic library, and that's where Grendal lives. Talk to him and
ta-da! You are now a magician!

Now you will get a free wand. Open your item inventory and go to the equips
section. Double click the wand. Now open your skill inventory. That's the K
button. Click the new tab at the top and you have a new skill book!
Put the very first point on energy bolt. It's your new attack. Open the key
config and assign energy bolt to a key.

MAKE SURE YOU DON'T DIE. IF YOU DIE NOW YOU WILL LOSE EXP!

Magicians lose about 4-6% exp when they die. That's not so bad for early lvls,
but later on it's bad to lose that much. Mostly you will lose 5%.

2 Skills and Skill Builds

You will get the following skills when becoming a magician:

1. Improving Max MP Recovery
Master lvl: 16
Skill type: passive
Description: The higher the skill lvl, the more mp you will recover every 10sec.

2. Improving Max MP Increase
Master lvl: 10
Skill type: passive
Description: The higher the skill lvl, the more mp you get when you lvl up and
use AP points on mp.

3. Magic Guard
Master lvl: 20
Skill type: Supportive
Description: At max, transfers 80% of damage received to mp instead of hp. This
skill is required, since magicians have the lowest hp in the game, and the highest
mp.

4. Magic Armour
Master lvl: 20
Skill type: Supportive
Description: Increases your weapon defense. At max only 40 defense, which is 20
less damage. You must not get this skill at all.

5. Energy Bolt
Master lvl: 20
Skill type: Active
Description: Shoots a bolt of energy at one enemy.

6. Magic Claw
Master lvl: 20
Skill type: Active
Description: Attacks an enemy with 2 claws/slashes. Better than energy bolt.

A little info on the skills:

When you start out, you will have to work with lvl 1 energy bolt for a few levels.
It should never get any higher than lvl 1, since that's all you need to activate
magic claw. And magic claw is stronger than energy bolt. A lot stronger.

But what's more important is Improving Max MP Increase. This skill increases the
amount of MP you get when you lvl up and use AP points for mp. (Don't use AP
points for mp!) You need to max this skill as early as possible, so you have
a lot of mp. And you're going to need a lot of mp. You'll see why later. You need
5 Improving Max MP Recovery to unlock increase. And putting your first point into
recovery will make your time so boring. After you complete MP Increase, you have
a choice of either magic claw or recovery. Recovery is best if you're unfunded.
Magic claw is for funded magicians. (Funded meaning you have another character to
supply you with money.) After that, you need to max the skill you didn't max right
now. That's either claw or recovery. Then get magic guard. Now here is the crucial
part about it. Magic guard takes a certain percentage of damage received out of mp
instead of hp. This is very crucial, since your hp is tiny, and mp is huge. You
will die very fast at lvls 60+ without magic guard. It might take a lot from mp,
but magic guard gives magicians the HIGHEST survival rate in the game. More than
warriors who have the highest hp.

Do not get magic armor. It is useless! Ok, it's usefull in the low levels, but
not in the high levels. Magic armor reduces the amount of damage recieved.
But still, at high levels you will die very fast with it. At max, magic armor
takes away 20 damage. So when you get hit by 1000 damage, magic armour will take
away 20 damage, meaning you would take 980 damage. That's like no difference from
1000. But magic guard would let you hp take 200 damage and mp take 800 damage.
That's better survival. You would be able to last for a while like that.

So after you get magic claw and increase, get magic guard. By then you should be
lvl 30 with:

1 Energy bolt
16 Recovery
10 Increase
20 Magic Claw
20 Magic guard

Here's the must be funded kill build:

1 Energy bolt
Max Magic claw
5 Recovery
Max increase
Max recovery
Max magic guard

This build gives you magic claw so early, that it takes a lot of mp, which means
you MUST have potions (pots) for mp. You will lvl very fast, but pots will be
burned.

The energy bolt build:

1 Energy bolt
5 Recovery
Max increase
Max Recovery
Max energy bolt
Max magic guard
1 point on magic claw or armor (claw is best)

With this build, you will have energy bolt, which is weaker than magic claw. This
is very unique, and EXTREMELY rare. I only saw 1 person with this build.

Here is a comparison between bolt and claw at max:

Magic claw: 40 base attack x2 (80 base attack)
Uses 20mp

Energy bolt: 55 base attack
Uses 14mp

So it's 80 vs. 55. Claw wins. The more mp used is TOTALLY worth it.

The build you should never do:

1 Energy bolt
5 Recovery
Max Increase
Max Recovery
Max magic guard
Max magic armour

Some person told me this; and with this build, you will get to nowhere. You
basically can't attack. (Seriously, 1 energy bolt is VERY weak.)

3 Equips

When you become a magician, you get a free wand. Just use that. Don't buy anything
from the ellinia armour shop. If you have enough money, get a lvl 10 hat.
Don't get anything else, since it's useless; you will soon sell them back and get
new equips and it'll be so fast. At lvl 15, buy a beige/black nitty. It's a shoe.
And also get a mooncone hat. Sell your old hat if you bought one. At lvl 18,
get a metal wand and a split piece and pants. At lvl 20, get the green wizardry
hat. Don't get the old wooden staff. Get an ice wand at lvl 23, but don't get
the doros robe. It's crappy defense and looks crappy. Use the black splits for
now. At lvl 28, get a mithril wand and a wizard robe. You can get a lvl 25
wizard staff if you have enough money. At lvl 30, you will have to go to another
town to get a jester hat. There are quests that give the hat and monsters that
drop it, so look at link to see how to get it. Once you are lvl
33, you will have to buy a chaos robe. It's darn expensive. 300k! You can buy it
from Ludibrium or Aquaroad, and a few other places. But not from orbis.

You probably have realized that from lvls 30 and below, every equips you bought
from an NPC was double the price that they would give you when you sell it back.
But now it's different. The chaos robe that you bought for 300k can only be sold
back for a measly 35k. Now that's just crazy. Well, it's the way it is.

You can either buy your new equips from NPCs or from people. But as from about
lvl 40+, NPCs won't sell you equips. You'll have to either do quests or kill
specific monsters to get them.

As for gloves and shoes, go to Fransois in ellinia. He is a few inches to the left
of the armor shop. You will need mesos and materials to make stuff, so wait till
lvls 30+ before you use him.

**********************************************************************************
Training Spots/PQs

**********************************************************************************

1 Lvls 8-13

Henesys Hunting Ground 1
Go to heneseys. Go all the way to the left. Take the portal to go to Heneseys
Hunting Ground 1. It's great training for the early lvls. But there are a lot of
people here, and some high lvls that like to KS. Stick with snails and slimes.
Don't go to orange mushrooms. You can also train in ellinia, where there are
slimes and tree stumps. There is a place where there are mobs of slimes.

2 Lvls 14-16

Southern Forest 1
Try some of the ellinia tree dungeons, and orange mushrooms. The ellinia tree
dungeons would be faster. They have slimes and green mushrooms. Try to find one
with mostly slimes.

3 16-19

Pig Beach
Rainforest East of Henesys
Green mushrooms and pigs. You can find pigs in 2 good places: Pig Beach and
the rainforest easy of heneseys. Pig beach is in lith harbor; find it on
link. The rainforest is 2 maps east of heneseys. Go to the right
portal, then go right again and walaa. Great training here. Collect the leathers
and stiff feathers as you will need them for quests and some equips.

4 20-30

Now is the time... to go to a training place thats great exp for 10 levels... and
even longer. Now is the time... to kill...

HORNY MUSHROOMS AND ZOMBIE MUSHROOMS

Ant Tunnel 1
They are in Ant tunnels 1-4 and even after that. To get there, you have to go to
heneseys. Go to the top right, then take the portal. Keep going right, until you
end up in a dark place. Now go down, and as you are going down, go to the portal
2nd from the bottom. Or just use a nearest town scroll. You are now in sleepywood.
Keep going right. Take the portal. And there you go. Using magic guard here would
be very helpful. The spawn is really good. I would recommend zombie mushrooms at
lvls 24-30, and before that, just horny mushrooms. Collect all the drops you get,
as this is a good place for money at the levels. Get used to the place, as you
will be here for a long while.

Land of Wild Boar I
Land of Wild Boar II
Another training place would be wild boars. Go to perion. Go to a portal on the
bottom right. You will see a portal marked: "Road to Dungeon". Don't go to that
portal. Use the one above that portal. Now go down. Somewhere on the bottom left,
there is a wooden door. Press up on that door. And there you go. Don't attack the
little jr. boogies. They will either curse you, seal you, or do some other bad
things to you. To kill the jr. boogies, you can either attack them (you will miss)
or you can go to the top-center of the wild boar map and use regular attack (the
one you used on maple island) on some weird stone rocks. Break those down and
say boogie bye-bye. Ant tunnel 1 is a better training place.

Excavation Sites
Another training spot that is good is the excavation site(s). They have
wooden/rocky masks and ghost stumps. They should be about 1 or 2 hit K.Os for you.
But Ant tunnel 1 would be better.

Cave of Evil Eye
Once you are lvl 25, you can go to evil eyes. Keep going deep into the ant tunnel.
You will find the evil eye cave in the bottom left in Ant tunnel park.

5 PQs

PQ stands for party quest. A party quest is a quest that you do with a party only.
Only 1 PQ can go on in a channel. There are 2 PQs that you can do before lvl 31.

Henesys PQ:
A 10 minute PQ that requires 3 people lvl 10+.
I would recommend atleast 4 people. In this PQ, you have to destroy flowers to
collect seeds. To destroy the flowers, you have to use your regular attack (maple
island attack). Most flowers won't drop seeds. You have to keep killing til you
get all 6 seeds. Then you must plant the seeds on certain platforms in the air.
You can walk on the clouds. To plant a seed, just drop it in the correct platform.
If you dropped it correcly, then in 5-10seconds, it will grow into a flower.
If not, just pick it up. Only 1 of each color seed allow on the platforms.
And then there is a part in which you have to protect a moon bunny.
This PQ is in Heneseys Park. The party leader must talk to NPC Tory to begin.
Henesys PQ Guide

Kerning City PQ:
A 20 minute, 4 stage PQ that requires EXACTLY 4 people lvls 21-30.
I would recommend lvls 24-30.
I'm too lazy to explain this whole PQ, so ask your party leader how to do this PQ.
Kerning City PQ Guide

Ariant Colleseum

This isn't a PQ, but it's a quest. A quest that you verse people is killing
monsters. You have to weaken the scorpion monsters to 1/3 or less hp, and use an
elemental rock to capture them. There are also bombs in the game. You start with
5 bombs, and you can use them to stun other people, and when they are stunned,
they will drop a random amount of scorpio points. Whoever gets the most scorpio
points in the end wins. And everyone who gets atleast 5 points gets exp.
If you kill the scorpios, then they might drop some bombs, skulls, speed boosters,
and power ups. Veru useful, but you can't get a scorpio point by killing the
scorpio.

When joining a PQ, go to the PQ area and say: "J> PQ". "J>" means "joining".

6 Tips

When at a training spot, trouble can come. If someone is already there as you are
coming, then there are several things you can do. Most likely, the person there
will say "CC plz". CC plz means "change channels please". As long as there is
someone already there, they have the right to say "CC plz". But you have the right
to stay. If you stay, the person might KS you or defame you. KSing is kill
stealing. It's when one person is attacking a monster, and another person attacks
it as well, which divides the exp depending on the damage done, and the lvls of
the people. There are several options you have.

You can say:
"Can we please share the map?"
"Can we party please?"
"Ok, I will CC."

If you're going to CC, you don't have to say it.

**********************************************************************************
2nd Job!

**********************************************************************************

Once you are level 30, then you are ready for 2nd job advancement!

1 The Test

Go to Grendal the Really Old again. Click the part that says:
"I'd like to know more about the magician"
Now Grendal will tell you about how much you have grown and became stronger, blah,
blah, blah. He will give you a letter.

Make sure you have atleast 50 mana elixers and 50 white pots. This test isn't that
easy.

Now go the the portal that's on the top
left of ellinia. Take the next portal on the left. Don't go into the green portal
at the top. If you have a magic seed, it will take you to a high leveled place
called Lefrea, and trust me, you DON'T want to go there until 3rd job (lvl 70).

Now you should be in a very long forest. Go all the way to the top. You will meet
and NPC there. Talk to him, and you will be taken into a special map. Use magic
guard now! The monsters there do about 100 damage. There are powered up horny
mushrooms and powered down curse eyes. You need to collect 30 dark marbles.
The monsters drop them at a rate of 1/3. Watch your magic guard. Remember to
recast it when you can. Once you have 30 marbles, go to the top of the map and
talk to the NPC. He will give you something that you have to take to Grendal.
Go back to Grendal and choose Wizard of Ice and Lightning.

2 The Skills

The basic skills of ice and lightning:

MP Eater
Master lvl: 20
Skill Type: Passive
Description: For every attack, there is a certain chance that a certain amount of
the enemy's mp can be drained. Very useful for saving pots.

Meditation:
Master lvl: 20
Skill Type: Supportive
Description: Increases magic attack for a certain amount of time. At max, +20
magic attack. Also a party skill, and basically your only party skill til 4th job.

Teleport:
Master Lvl: 20
Skill Type: Active
Description: Moves you a certain distance by using MP. The higher the skill lvl,
the less mp used, and more distance.

Slow:
Master lvl: 20
Skill Type: Active
Description: Decreases the speed of the monsters around you.

Cold Beam:
Master lvl: 30
Skill Type: Active
Description: Throws a sharp piece of ice at and enemy and freezes it. Will not
freeze monsters strong or resistant to ice.

Thunderbolt:
Master lvl: 30
Skill Type: Active
Description: Creates a force-field around the character, and hits up to 6 monsters
nearby.

3 Equips

Now... how to explain this. Equips won't be as easy to get as they were before.
You can't buy 90% of your equips from NPCs anymore. You'll have to either do
quests, buy them from someone, or hunt monsters for them. It's a more difficult
life now, but you have to deal with it. And believe me, it's not that hard.

You can buy some equips from NPCs, but after lvl 38, NPCs won't sell you your
normal equips. And between 30-38, equips from NPCs will be more expensive.
If you but a lvl 33 Blood Chaos Robe, NPCs will sell it for 300k. But if you want
to sell it back to them, then they will only buy for 35k. Now that's just foul.
Well, the only way to get rid of it once you get something new is to sell it to
someone for a higher price (that robe is worth 100-150k).

**********************************************************************************
Ice/Lightning Skill Builds

**********************************************************************************

You can choose from a variety of different skill builds, but here are the most
common ones:

1 Ice Build

First point into teleport
Max Cold Beam
3 MP Eater to unlock Meditation
Max Meditation
Max Thunderbolt
Max Teleport
Max MP Eater/18 slow

This is the usual build, since ice first saves you a lot of money, and there are
many training spots that benefit from ice. Meditation comes next so your attack
would deal more damage, and yes, meditaion does help. From now til lvl 50, you
will most likely be at CPQ, which is a PQ I will explain later, and meditation
would benefit clerics, and other wizards that don't have medi yet. Lightning comes
next so you can mob, and it's very important. After that, you'll need teleport,
since you will be using it a LOT, and 60 mp isn't cheap. At max, it uses 13mp,
which is very nice. It's better than haste! Most of the times, you will be
telecasting, which I will explain later, and mp is important. You might have
plenty of mp, but when traveling long distances, it matters a lot. MP Eater comes
last since most monsters you train on before have 0 or very low mp, and it's not
worth it before lvl 60. You can also choose to get slow, but slow is nearly
useless, since you can freeze. The only time slow is useful is bossing, which
I/L rarely get to do.

2 Lightning Build

First point into teleport
Max Thunderbolt
3 MP eater to unlock Meditation
Max Medi
Max Cold Beam
Max Teleport
Max MP Eater/18 slow

This is the same build as before, but you switch ice and lightning. Lightning
first wouldn't benefit as much as ice first, and to some people, it burns pots
a lot, so in the end, you lose a lot of money. I went with lightning first, and
it isn't that bad. But in the early lvls, lightning damage sucks, and there
is only boring training spots. But the exp is fast once you have lightning at
lvl 15+.

3 Hybrid Build

First point into Tele
Max Thunderbolt/Cold Beam
Max the other attack skill that you didn't max before
3 MP eater
Max Medi
Max tele
Max mp eater/18 slow

This build is for people who want to attack early. You won't be as bored as the
other builds, as you have more training spots. This build is now the common build
for ice lightning wizards, as most people don't care about meditation that early.

4 My build

1 tele
Max Thunderbolt
Max Cold Beam
Max Teleport
3 Mp Eater
Max medi
Max mp eater

This build gives you teleport early, since you will be using it a lot. The mp cost
will be much cheaper, and you'll find travel a breeze. Meditation isn't so
important as much as tele, and saving mesos will be more better than doing more
damage. Also, early teleport lets you train at red drakes better, since you will
be teleporting a lot there.

Training Spots/PQs

**********************************************************************************

Once you're in 2nd job, training is much more different. You will be leveling
slower, but that's normal. You might think that lvl 30 is hard, but high lvls
envy how easy it is for you to lvl. Compared to a lvl 70, a Lvl 30 is in a
supreme difference at getting exp, You'll be hearing things like: "Oh, I get 20%
an hour here! So godly!". It's true. Depending on the lvl, it's great exp.

Lvls 30-35 are the "hell lvls" for every class. It will be a little hard and
boring during these levels.

1 Lvls 30-35

You will mainly be at Ant tunnels. But now would be the time to move onto another
place. You can try Brown/Pink Teddies at Ludibrium (Ludi). To get there, go to
Orbis. To get to Orbis, go to ellinia, and go into a portal that's marked
"Sixtopia". Once there, talk to the ticket seller. Then go to the right, and you
will see NPC Cherry. Every 15 minutes, the ride to Orbis leaves. They stop
collecting tickets 1 minutes before the ship leaves, and they start collecting
5 minutes before it leaves. Also, during the ride, crimson balrogs can come.
They are high lvl bosses, so just go inside the cabin. The cabin is a black door
in the middle of the ship. It's a safe spot for those who can't kill the balrogs.
You won't be able to kill them until about lvl 80. Once you're in Orbis, talk to
the ticket person again, and go right to go to the platform usher. Go left if you
want to stay in orbis.

Terrace Hall
Once you're in Ludi, the brown teddies are in Terrace Hall. To go there, just
enter the portal on the clock. The clock is in the center of ludi.

Another great place would be evil eyes. They come in mobs, so come with a lot of
pots. The money is kind of bad....

Eos Tower
When you are lvl 34, if you have lvl 12 lightning, you can go to Eos tower in ludi
and fight rats. They give great exp and there are these little screws you can
stand on and zap away. They are good exp til about lvl 40.

Wild boars in perion are almost equal to zombie mushrooms. When you're lvl 35, you
can move onto fire boars. They are weak to ice, but even with magic claw the exp
is great.

Ariant
There are new places in Ariant, which just recently came out, but the monsters
aren't listed with all their details, but as from my experience there, there are
many great places for lvls 25-50. You can search for a map there and most of them
are great for lvl 30s.

2 Lvls 35-40

You can still train in Ariant, which seems to be the best spot currently. It's a
bit easy to party with someone there, since it's so popular. There are some
quests that give good exp, so you should try those out.

Helios Tower 99th floor
Now if you went lightning first, you could try out Retz in helios tower 99th
floor. There is a screw you can stand on and just zap them. The exp is godly,
since you are hitting like 4-6 of them at a time. Usually there's 5 in a spawm.
If the spawn goes low, then just go kill the other platforms, and the spawn should
be back to normal or even better. This is good exp up til lvl 50-52ish. Also, if you
think that your lightning is somewhat weak, you can use magic claw to kill them as
well.

Caution Falling Down
Damp Forest
When you have lvl 12-15 lightning, mobbing octopi are a great idea. They are weak
to lightning, and there are 2 places where they spawn really great. The first is
Hidden Street: Caution Falling Down. It's a secret map in kerning city that has
a GODLY spawn of octopi, and a small spawn of blue mushrooms. You can also try
the Damp Forest in sleepywood, which has nice mobs, and is pretty decent exp.

Ludi PQ
At 35, you can also start to do Ludi PQ, but it's like empty now since Monster
Carnival took over. Monster Carnival is a PQ. It's for lvl 30-50, but best at
38-50. Most parties want 45+, but even for lvl 38+, it's not that hard to get it.

Purple Plains 1
For those who went ice first, you can train on fire boars with ice until lvl 42.
A better monster would be sakura cellions. They drop about 250-350 mesos per drop,
which is great money. The field is flat, so you can tele left and right. The bad
thing is that this place is popular, so it might take a while to find a free chan.
It' great exp from 35-50, so have fun. BTW, sakuras are weak to ice. Lightning
first wizards would also have a nice time, but would need more money for pots.
But then again, the money you get is great, so lightning doesn't burn.

Garden of Red 1
Another monster that's similar to sakuras are jr. cellions. They are in orbis,
have 1.1k hp, and are weak to ice. The mesos are similar to fire boars.
The spawn is better here than sakuras, but just because sakuras drop more money,
doesn't mean that this place is bad. Also, this place would be great for lightning
first, too, since there are really nice mobs here.

Toy Workshop
There is one more training spot that is good from lvls 35-55ish, but it
requires 1 or more points on MP Eater. Nightmares in NLC mansion are great exp,
and as long as you just use magic claw or cold beam, you won't lose any mp, and
hp wouldn't be a problem since nightmares do like 40 touch and 1 magic, or maybe
it was the opposite way around. But good exp and saves pots. The bad thing is that
they drop firewood. There are a few maps with Nightmares, so I suggest you
explore a bit. Some maps have v/hoodoos, so try not to go to those.
In this map, there are also Psycho Jacks and Psycho Jack Boxes, which are also
great training.

3 Lvls 40-50

You can still train at Ariant, sakuras, or jr. cellions. For lightning first
wizards, you can go to evil eyes at lvl 38-45ish. They are pretty decent mobs,
but it would be somewhat of a pot burner here, since evil eye drops suck.

Now is when lightning wizards have a really nice time at retz.

MCPQ
MCPQ would be your best place for exp. First of all, you don't gain or lose money,
you just get exp and maple coins. With the coins, I suggest buying a Spigelmann
necklace (50 coins). You should then scroll it with spigelmann's marble
(40 coins.) The necklace gives +1 of each stat (str, dex, int, and luk). It's
worth about 300-500k. The marble has a 60% chance of adding 30hp and mp. You can
only scroll it 3 times, and 90hp and mp necklaces are worth about 3-5mil.

Here's a little tip about weapons: Buy a nocturnal or maple lama staff. They add
100 hp and 50 mp, and the hp is what magicians are crucial in. It's lvl 43, and
it would be best to use it until lvl 64, where you get a maple wisdom staff.
The magic att. might be lower than newer wands/staves, but the hp and mp is worth
it. You can scroll it for INT/m.att, which you should.

Paper Lantern Ghosts
At lvl 45-55, paper lantern ghosts in zipangu are great exp. Use ice or lightning,
but know this: the foxes that spawn there are weak to lightning and the lanterns
are weak to ice. Either skill is good there, as long as it's maxed. You will find them
in zipangu.

The Path of Time 1
Lost Time 1
If you need an esther shield, platoon chronoses are great training. The exp is
good, and the spawn is quite decent for ice or lightning. They are in ludi, down
in the big clock.

Lorangs
If you have lightning maxed by 40, the lorangs are somewhat good exp from lvls
40-55. People say the spawn is good, but there is a lot of movement, so the exp
isn't that good as other places.

STDs
One godly place for lightning first is Straw Target Dummies (STDs). They have
really great mobs, and the exp is good from 45-65. This place usually has a lot
of people, so beware.

The Passage
Flyeyes in Aquaroad are also a good place. But you have to be very careful,
as the way to them are very dangerous. Monsters can do up to 2k damage.
Flyeyes only do about 70-90 on someone of your lvl, so don't worry.

Sleepy Dungeon III
Now here's some great exp! There are curse eyes here that come in HUGE
mobs. Just use lightning on one platform, go down, and keep going up and
down. There are dark stone golems, so I suggest you keep magic guard
on. If you can be carefull enough to pot when getting hit everytime, then
MG isn't needed.

Jr. Yetis: Now here's a really nice place.. but it's also good from 45-70. The
mobs are really decent, and can get big, and we're lucky they only do about 150
damage, so it's one place where we don't burn pots for great exp. The downside is
that they are strong to ice, but wth, who needs ice there? To get here, go to
El nath, and take the portal to the right. You should drag up a mob from one
side to another, and kill them. Every now and then, go to the top and mob
those up as well.

Another Path
Sanctuary Entrance I
Cold Eyes that are deep in the dungeon are great exp til lvl 55ish. The
mobs are really great. And you don't use a lot of pots, since they only
do about 70-100 damage to someone of your lvl. If you go to the
sancturay entrances, then beware of tauromacis. And even further,
taurospears. They can do 500-800 damage, depending on your defense.
The mobs are great in any of the maps, but if you want to enter the
sanctuary, then have MG on, or else you're only going there for a death
wish. As for the tauromacis themselves, use cold beam to freeze them.
The problem with that is there are cold eyes all over, so you might hit them
instead of the tauromaci. If in a mob of a tauromaci and cold eyes, use
lightning to quickly kill the cold eyes, then freeze-kill the tauros.
If you go even further, you will meet Jr. Balrog, a boss. Don't go there
until you are atleast lvl 60, and have a lot of pots. Jr. Balrog can do up
to 3k magic damage on you....

4 Lvls 50-60

Now is when lvling will start to get harder. Say bye-bye to CPQ, as you will
probably level up there and some might feel sad leaving such a place.

There are some new places in Singapore that are godly for I/L wizard training.
When you get to Singapore, keep going right, and take right portals until you find
monsters that give decent exp. I will try to add the proper monsters and maps
in this guide later when I train there a bit more.
Last I remember, it was about 4 maps from the right of Singapore for something
with decent/godly exp in this lvl range. The mobs are so nice. If you keep going,
the monsters usually get stronger, so try to find a good map. Be aware that
Singapore areas are new and many people will want to check them out. They
also have great mobs, so you might meet some KSers.

STDs, lorangs, and whatever I said from lvls 40-50, are still good until the lvl
I said to stop at.

Some new monsters/PQs:

LMPQ (Ludi Maze PQ)

This is the fastest place from 51-60ish. The lvl limit is 51-70. Your best time
to go here would be lvl 55-60ish, since before 55, you will be missing on the best
part. You can learn about this PQ at link. Just use cold beam
unless there is a lvl 70 i/l mage mobbing with lvl 1 Ice strike. That's when you
should use thunderbolt, unless it's not maxed.
Ludi PQ Guide

Mountain Cliffs
Do you want really godly exp? Well here's another pot burner that's worth it:
Gryphons. They come in mobs, and their hp is really low for the exp they give.
The bad thing is that the maps they spawn in are hard to nacigate, and you will
find yourself falling off the platforms, even with teleport. There are some pits
that take you to the previous map, and stuff like that, so learn how to train in
the 2 maps and you'll be fine. Great exp from 55-80. To get here, go to NLC,
go right, and take the far right portal of the 3 there. Then keep going to the
next portal available until you find some big bird-like monsters. Mainly, use
the teleporters in the map to attack some gryphs here, some there, until
you form a BIG mob of like 15-20.

Hoodoos
Voodoos
Voodoos/Hoodoos... now this place is great exp... but the downside? It takes like
1/2 hour to find a free map/channel. Just mob them up.. Great exp with a cleric
or priest, and good for lvls 58-80ish. To get here, go to NLC, then talk to the
taxi at the far left. Press up at the haunted house door, and from there on, you
will have to mess with the door for a while, since it's really hard to write it all out.
Since there are so many people, you might be able to ask someone. Good til
75.

Garden of Red II
Cellions are really great exp. They are the big version of jr. cellions. Same
thing, weak to ice, huge mobs, and great exp from lvls 52-65. Mostly, you will be
mobbing them, since the mobs are HUGE, and that's like 10-20 in a mob. Partying
with a warrior would be really nice. They could take the top platform, since it's
flat, and warriors use their mob skill on a one-sided kinda attack, so you get the
idea. The bottom would be best for you, the I/L. Use ice for groups of 3 or less.
It's best to lure tham into one spot when you're at the bottom. That does save
pots. There is spot where you can just hold on to the thunderbolt button for
a long time, but you still get hit. The good thing about this place it that they
drop red china tops and bottom, which can be sold in the MTS for 110-150nx
each.

Dangerous Velley II
Red Drakes: 53-65ish. They are weak to ice, and that's all you should be using
here. Don't mob them with lightning, and always have magic guard on. They do about
260 damage, and have a magic attack. DON'T USE LIGHTNING. The good thing is that
they drop steelies, and lvl 50-60 mage gear, so that's a huge income. They are in
Perion, so just take the portal thats marked with "to the dungeon", and go left.
Don't fall down, and you should see a wooden door. Go there, and go to the top,
take the portal and activate magic guard. If you are careful enough, you won't need
magic guard, but better safe than sorry.

Secret Spa M/F
Red Slimes from lvl 55-65 are pretty good exp. They are weak to ice, too. But the
bad thing is that there are poison shooting geysers, so that's a small problem,
but it's nothing big. Keep MG on as red slimes do 3xx damage. They also come
with firebombs, which are also weak-to-ice, but explode when their hp goes low.

Forest of Dead Trees 1~4
From lvl 55-75, coolie zombies are GODLY exp. The downside is that they are VERY
VERY deep in el nath dungeon, so it's hard to get to without a dead mine scroll.
And dead mine scroll are sold for 200-300k in FM, since you can only get them from
zakum quests. But don't worry. Walking there isn't that bad. It only takes about
5min to walk and tele there. BTW, coolies come in mobs, and shoot poison at you.
And el nath is cold, so you will lose a little bit of hp every few seconds.
To cure that, go to the el nath potion shop, and buy the special item there.

Subway Line 1 Area 4
Wraiths in Kerning city subway come in mobs, so that's another place. Best would
be at lvl 50-65 with max lightning. Other places are much better, though.

Parking Lot
If you go to showa town, you will have some good time here. Talk to a man named
Konpei, and enter the hideout. Turn on magic guard, and enter the portal. There
are extra Ds and leader Bs, here. Your main focus is Extra Ds, since they are weak
to ice. DO NOT MOB THEM WITH LIGHTNING. Extra Ds fo 5xx touch damage
and 14xx magic damage. Just freeze them. If there are leaders in the way, kill
them, too. Mainly, the extra Ds will be spawning better toward the middle and
then end of the place. If you go to the next map, the spawn is better, and there
are Leader As, too. Before 55, I suggest you only stay in the first map. Then you
can continue on. Don't go any further, as you can die. Anego is a boss that comes
in the map called Parlor, and she does 15k damage.... STAY OUT OF THE PARLOR!

FoG
FoG (Forest of Golem) has Mix Golems and Dark Stone Golems. They come in huge
mobs, and are nice exp, but there is one problem. They burn pots badly! Best for
lvls 55-75. To get here, go to sleepywood, and you will find a small house with one
door. Press up on the door and keep going down intil you get to sleepy dungeon
5. There you will find a flower if you go to the top right or top centerish. Press up
on the flower and there you are. Don't forget magic guard..

5 Lvls 60-70

Now is when you will just be what you are. Now's the time when you are so close
to becoming an I/L mage. The exp will be slow, but you just have to bear with it,
since 3rd job is so worth it. Any of the places in 50-60 that go to this lvl range are
ok for 60-70.

Also, some areas in Singapore might still be good. It's still new and I haven't really
checked out much of it. See the lvl 50-60 section for more info.
**********************************************************************************
Q&A

**********************************************************************************

Q: Thunder or cold beam first?
A: It depends. If you are rich and funded, go thunder first. It is helpful in mobs, but requires 40mp,
which isn't cheap. Cold beam on the other hand, gets you a lot of money, and freezes, so you save
and gain. 24 mp isn't so much. Also, thunderbolt is nerfed down in CPQ, so it's onlu usefull in huge
mobs. Cold beam works very well in CPQ. Too bad it can't freeze the boss rombot.

Q: Magic guard or armour?
A: I think I answered it somewhere before, but I'll do so again. Magic guard is what you want.
It transfer up to 80% of the damage you receive to your huge bulk of mp instead of your poor,
weak hp. When you get hit by 1000, your hp will take 200, and mp will take 800. With magic armour:
It reduces how much damage you receive. Max: 40 wep defense. That's 20 less damage.
1000 - 20 = 980. Your hp will take 980, which at higher lvls will kill you in one hit.

Q: Saving SP after half maxing a skill?
A: Some people/guides might tell you to save some SP once a skill is 1/2 maxed. Well, let me explain.
When lets say thunderbolt is lvl 15, it takes 20mp. But at lvl 16+, it takes 40 mp, or double. But
the damage doesn't increase like that. So you should save your SP for a few lvls so that the damage
is worth the mp. This is yet only optional, so it's up to you. I would higly recommend doing this if
you are an unfunded I/L going lightning first. I had to learn this the hard way.

Q: Slow or MP eater?
A: I answered this earlier haha.

Q: At 3rd job, should I max thunder spear(TS)?
A: It's up to you. If you lvl slowly and don't plan on getting to 4th job, then yes, you should. It's
useful for KBing bosses, so they will hit you less. Also, at 4th job, CL replaces TS. So it's up to you.
Most people will tell you to get comp since it has better DPS. Oh well, it's up to you. KB, or DPS.
PM me if you are still unsure.

Q: What kind of pots should I use?
A: All of 2nd job, you should use Sorceror elixers and white pots. They are cheap and easy to get.
To get sorceror elixers, you create a mule, which should be a warrior since they are the easiest to
lvl in maple island. You then take it to NLC. Now whenever you need sorceror elixers, go on your
i/l, then go to any storage guy/girl. Put some money in it. I would recommend: 225k for 150
S. elixers, or 450k for 300. And you can do the math for more, but keep in mind that you can only
hold 150 per inventory and storage slot. Then go on the mule and take out the money (the storage
system is transferable between all the characters on that server on that nexon account). Go spend
it on the S. elixers, store them in storage, then take them out on your i/l. Simply done.

Q: Which is better: f/p or i/l?
A: It depends on your playing style, but at different lvls, different classes win. Some win at a big
advantage, and some are just a bit over. It all depends on: class, fundings, playing style, and
whether or not you're lukless. TY commonkid.

Q: Should I train with thunder or ice more?
A: It depends where you train. And it depends how much money. If you are poor or almost poor,
go use ice on the appropriate plaecs. If you need exp and have a decent amount of money, then
use that on the appropriate place(s) for your lvl.

Q: When should I start scrolling?
A: I suggest you should scroll something when you have atleast 10mil. 10mil that's solely dedicated
to scrolls and the item to be scrolled. But that's only for basic scrolling with 60%s. Otherwise, you
might need 20mil+. And to make something so uber godly as if every 10% scroll you used worked,
you will need possible 500mil so you can get white scrolls everytime a 10% fails. And one more thing.
You don't need to scroll something that you're going to replace in like 5 levels. It's only good to scroll
something when you are 60+, since that's when lvling gets slow and you will have the same equips
for a longer time. And when you scroll something, you don't sell it immediatly when you can replace it.
You wait til you're high enough lvled for a better equip.

Q: What weapon should I use? Wands or staves?
A: They realy don't matter. But preferably, if you are doing a PQ that requires you to kill boxes with
that melee regular attack, then speed comes in there. As for magic skills, the speed of a wand/staff
doesn't effect the cast, except for f/p mage's explosion. And as an i/l, all you have to worry about
is which wand/staff has more m.att and or int.

Q: Monsters do too much damage to me and I die fast. What should I do?
A: Always look to see if magic guard is on. And re-cast it whenever you are on a ladder/rope. Don't
wait for it to run out or start blinking. And everytime you cast meditation, cast MG as well. Create
a macro if you need to. And always keep a close eye at your hp and mp. And don't pot your hp/mp
when it gets very low. Pot when you can. Lets say you have 700 hp and you use white pots.
When your hp gets down to 400 or lower, use a white pot. Use it whenever you can so that it
doesn't go to waste. But don't wait for your hp to go down to 100 or so, since you can die when
you press the pot button. And sometimes you might lag unexpectedly. You never know.

Q: Other classes are doing more damage than me. Why?
A: Wizards aren't meant to do so much damage for some reason. They are mainly mobbers,
and lightning would do more damage than the average warrior/thief/bowman. But bowmen and
warriors can outdamage lightning, too. Don't worry, you're not messed up. When you get to late 3rd
job and 4th job, you will be equal to the other classes, and a chance of being higher. At 4th job,
there is no doubt, arch mages do the most damage.

Q: I'm not getting into LMPQ often and the exp seems slow. What should I do?
A: Don't always PQ, since it's really slow these days. You need a fast clicker and a party that
can kill everything in 1min or less. That's how you can get 1% a minute, but it only works before lvl
60. And you don't always get 1% per PQ. So LMPQ is most of the times bad exp, but good money.
Trust me on this, even with a fast party and godly clicker, I got like 30% in 1 and 1/2 hours without
missing. I could get that 30% in one hour at cellions.

Q: Training seems slow; what should I do?
A: By lvl 5x, training will seem slow. If you are getting 30% an hour or higher, then that's normal.
In some places, 20%/hour is OK. But always looks for someplace that you can afford the pot costs
and has decent or godly exp.

Well, this guide was made first of all, to be in link, and they required it to be in a certain way, so I had to make it narrow.

I didn't put it in gamefaqs yet, but I will soon.

Oh really?

Yea, it's true. But many guides don't explain training spots and other stuff in detail. BTW compy, your guide said retz all the way to 75. That's just insane. Retz are no more in the early 50s.

Good guide, but there might be a few errors.
Keeping STR or DEX at more than 5 should probably never happen unless you're extremely impatient. It's better than having to buy an AP reset later.
For the "funded kill magician build", You should still max out MP Increase as soon as possible because you will miss out on a lot of MP.
I'm not sure about this, but I heard Zombies would be bad exp because they changed the map.

Ok ty for the 6 dex/str part.

Zombies are still good exp. I went there at lvl 57, and I got about 30-40% an hour. Or basically 0.02% per kill. All you have to do is drag mobs there and kill them. It's all simple.

As for the kill build, I know that you would miss mp, but some people don't care about it. I remember seeing lvl 10 magicians with claw and I tell them that increase is first but they don't care.

You don't always have to do MP increase. I didn't. It's crucial that warriors du HP Increase first but not us. MP Increase may make things harder during that period of time.

You do have to.........gosh, this is common sense.

MP increase is vital cuz we att using mp plus, the more mp increase, the less repotting. T.T
