Intro.

Bosses - Big. Bad. And often fun to take down! If you're looking for some tips/tricks/info on these monsters that can declare themselves boss-worthy, enjoy!

This guide came off of Megami's suggestion to make a seperate bossing guide instead of having it in her awesome Sin/Hermit/NL guide. If you haven't visited her guide yet, do so, it rocks!

Please! If you see any errors, tell me! I'll be happy to correct them. Also, if you have any extra tips to take down these bosses, feel free to share! I'll be happy to add them in.

Note: Party Quest bosses have not been included because I believe that guides for the PQs should have covered enough information on their bosses. If you cannot find a guide for a PQ boss, notify me. I'll search myself for such a guide. If it doesn't exist, I'll add that boss!

How To Use This Guide!

Each boss's name is highlighted. Some bosses also have nicknames/shortened versions of the name/untranslated versions of the name, included in parentheses.

Each boss then has a description, starting with its location and going onto how much damage each delivers, how the fight commences, and any really notable drops at the end.

Spawn Time or Summoned By: This part lists the spawn time of each boss if they are naturally spawning. Note that all times are approximates! So it won't be guranteed that a boss will spawn if you wait at there map for exactly that amount of time. If the boss has no spawn time, then the boss will have description on how to summon it.

Level Recommended: A rough estimate on the earliest a player should go challenge a boss. The criteria for this are whether a player can fully hit a boss and whether the player can take out the boss in an efficient amount of time. The (partied) levels are with an HB, a healer, and other attackers. The (solo) levels are either when a player can take the boss on him/herself. Depending on your equips, you may go earlier or have to wait a bit later than the Level Recommended.

HP Required: The amount of HP needed to survive the boss fight (you may use Hyper Body to reach these HP requirements). Note that these are just rough estimates, your value may be higher or lower based on your Def./M. Def.

Boss HP: How much damage you'll have to deal to a boss before it goes down.

Boss Exp: Exp rewarded for defeating a boss. The Exp amounts are on 1x Exp and full exp (not party dividends).

KB Value: How much damage each Star has to inflict in order for a boss to go into a state of being Knocked Back.

Difficulty Rating: On a scale of 1-5, 1 being a very simple boss and 5 being very difficult. All ratings done by Kakashi9091 unless noted!

Notable Drops: Some awesome items that can potentially drop from a boss. The items can be anywhere from common to super rare! Note that this NOT a complete drops list, just a list of popular drops! Currently Sin/Hermit/NL equips or nifty equips and Stars as well as quest items. Scrolls may be added in later!

Tips From The Pros: One Hermit can tell you a lot of things, but two will tell you more. First-hand experience and tips from Sins, Hermits, and NLs that have fought these bosses before. Don't miss these! If you have any tips of your own that aren't in this guide yet, please tell!

Victoria Island

Bosses In Area: Mano, Mushmom, Stumpy, Faust, Dyle, King Clang, Zombie Mushmom, Jr. Balrog, Crimson Balrog

Mano

This is the easiest boss on Maple Story! Found at Thicket Around the Beach III near Lith Harbor. This boss has only 2000 HP, so most players can get rid of it with ease. Lower leveled players may take a bit of time fighting it, but shouldn't find any difficulty to taking it down.
When defeated, Mano drops a Rainbow Shell with the power to temporarily transform a player into a Red Snail.
Spawn Time: 20 minutes.
Level Recommended: 10+
HP Required: 300+
Boss HP: 2000
EXP: 120
KB: 1
Difficulty:1/5
Notable Drops: Rainbow Shell

Mushmom (MM)

One of the more commonly hunted bosses for its chance of dropping Scrolls and Ilbis. Found at Someone Else's House, a hidden-street off of Henesys. An Assassin can defeat a Mushmom as early as Level 35.
The Horned Mushrooms can get in the way, but should be easy to dispose of. When fighting MM, you can avoid its groundshaker attack simply by jumping at the right moment. This boss isn't very strong. It has 20,000 HP. But, if you're careless as a lower leveled Sin, you can still get killed by this oversized fungus.
Spawn Time: 60 minutes.
Level Recommended: 35+
HP Required: 1200+
Boss HP: 20,000
EXP: 1200
KB: 1000
Difficulty: 1.5/5
Notable Drops: Ilbi Throwing Stars, Mushmom Spore

Stumpy

A large Stump found at East Rocky Mountain V of Perion. This boss can deal around 150 damage, so players shouldn't have a difficult time taking hits unless they are without HP pots at lower levels. This boss has 3500 HP, so it won't be a long fight. It has three abilities: It can heal itself and the Stumps around it, fire a bat dart, or do a groundshaker attack. The dart can be avoided by ducking andd the groundshaker by jumping.
This boss drops a large pile of Branches and Firewood.
Spawn Time: 45 minutes.
Level Recommended: 20+
HP Required: 400+
Boss HP: 3,500
EXP: 205
KB: 1
Difficulty: 2/5
Notable Drops: Dark Pilfer, Dark Cleave, Black Red-Lined Shoes

Faust

This giant, posessed Zombie Lupin can be found at Forest of Evil 2 in Ellinia. This boss does little damage, but can be a bit of trouble for lower-leveled players. Besides the Zombie Lupin spawning around it (these can be annoying if you can't kill them in 2-3 hits), this boss can also use Super W. Def Up, causing your Claw Atks to only deal 1's no matter how strong you actually are. This boss has a medium-ranged attack which does about 150 damage. Faust is also able to Heal a good portion of its HP and can also summon more Z. Lupins. If Z. Lupins are a problem, simply pick them off to decrease the mob around the boss before fighting it.
Spawn Time: 30 Mins.
Level Recommended: 35+
HP Required: 200+ (?)
Boss HP: 11,000
KB: 600
EXP: 410
Difficulty:1.5/5
Notable Drops: N/A

Dyle

This swamp dwelling boss can be found at Dangerous Croko 1. Despite its large size, this boss isn't really a tough one. It has a decent amount of HP at 31,000, but its damage is really low. It has a medium-ranged attack where the bird on top of it whips you with its bait pole for about 250-300 damage. The boss moves very slow and the attack animation takes a good amount of time, so using that to your advantage will make this gator easy to flush. Dyle is also able to heal itself and the surrounding Ligators by about 5k HP (full heal for Ligators).
Spawn Time: 30 Mins.
Level Recommended: 50+
HP Required: 300+ (?)
Boss HP: 31,000
KB: 1500
EXP: 810
Difficulty:2/5
Notable Drops: N/A
Tips From The Pros:
igotsodaxp: If no one said it, you can avoid dyles attack by luring it to the far right most part of the map.
It can't hit you from there.

King Clang

This giant blue-shelled boss can be found at Hot Sands in Florina Beach. At first it is in its sleeping state, simply a big blue shell, but when provoked wakes up and is ready for a fight! 25,000 HP and a Claw Attack make this one a challenege for lower leveled players who are just wandering around Florina. It's not a hard boss for Sins on the quest.
Drops a bunch of Clang and Lorang Claws after being defeated. Also known to drop some scrolls.
Spawn Time: 20 minutes.
Level Recommended: 40+
HP Required: 1100+
Boss HP: 25,000
EXP: 1210
KB: 1000
Difficulty: 2.5/5
Notable Drops: N/A

Zombie Mushmom (ZMM)

She's back from the dead and wants to eat your brains! Not really. She can be found at Mushmom's Grave, a hidden-street deep in the Ant Tunnel by the ever dependable 24-Hour Truck! Players in their Late 40's might want to try this boss, but it deals more damage than the original Mushmom. Players in ther 50's begin to have an easier time with this boss. This time, there aren't Iron Hogs around, but instead Undead Shrooms and Jr. Boogies. Get rid of the Jr. Boogies and this fight should be a piece of cake! Same old groundshaker attack, just stronger.
Spawn Time: 60 minutes.
Level Recommended: 50+
HP Required: 1500+
Boss HP: 35,000
EXP: 1500
KB: 1500
Difficulty: 2/5
Notable Drops: Hwabi Throwing Stars(?), Ilbi Throwing Stars

Jr. Balrog

The strongest boss on Victoria Island can be found at Ancient Sanctuary deep in the Ant Tunnel. This boss can deal a lot of damage (its M. Atk well over 2000). But if you use the correct method, you can take on this demonic boss as early as your mid 50's.
The way to do this is to wait on the ledge above it on the left side of the map until it walks to the far-right. Jump down and attack it and back peddle while still sending Stars at it. If you keep your distance, you will not get hit. But its ranged attacks have a decent amount of range, so try not to stumble and let it come close enough to get you with its attacks. Once you back peddle up to the rope, climb up to the ledge you were on before. You'll be safe up there. Next, jump on the platforms in the room and lure Jr. Balrog back to the right. Jump down the gap between the ledges and you should have enough distance from it to repeat.
This guy has 50,000 HP. It'll take quite a few repeats of this method for those in their 50's to upper 60s, but gets much easier later on. It's Knock Back is 3,000, so if you can deal that much on him, it'll slow him down.
Spawn Time: 6 hours.
Level Recommended: 70+
HP Required: Any (See Description)
Boss HP: 50,000
EXP: 2500
KB: 3000
Difficulty: 3/5
Notable Drops: Brown Scarab

BALROG

The largest Balrog of them all is probably one of the more unique bosses available on Maple Story. It is a lot like later squad bosses which can bring in a little difficulty for less experienced players. The thing that makes this boss unique is that it has both an Easy and Normal difficulty you can fight it on.
The first thing you need to do in order to fight the Balrog is to organize a squad. Make sure squad members have appropriate HP amounts and equips that aren't too far below par since you have a time limit to finish the boss and too much un-preparedness will lead to a fail. Also, there are level requirements for squads, Easy: 50-70 and Normal: 70-120. Being above the level requirements I believe nerfs your stats during the fight.
Once you have gathered a squad and entered, the fight will begin. The Balrog is split into 3 parts, but they all contribute to the HP (so you can attack whichever part you prefer, sitting on the top left of the map seems to be the easiest). The first part of the fight can be seen as a "trial", since the HP bar has not come up, but unless you attack it, you'll be kicked when the HP bar does come up (about 19:50 remaining in the fight).
This boss has many different abilities, 1/1 skill, Dispels, Zombifies, weak area magic damage (fire explosions and lightning bolts, dealing around 200-350 damage), but most notably Reflect which comes up during the last 3rd of his HP. The most difficult thing is probably his Reflect, which doesn't come with an animation, but happens when he chats to the squad and calling us all "green horns" or something like that, and after Reflect disappears, it re-appears about a minute after, so be careful! (Need verification on signs for Reflect)

During the fight, you'll also be signalled to attack the little statues as Balrog recovers his energies, the longer you take to do so, the more time he'll have to recover. When you hit these stones, Balrog will summon Baby Balrogs, nerfed Jr. Rogs, and nerfed C. Rogs, all doing damage similar to his M. Atks (200-350ish), but they're mainly to get in the way.

Also, this boss only allows the use of 1st-2nd job skills, but Passives like Berserk, Shadow Shifter, etc. still take effect. So don't panic if your SP isn't working! Good luck.

Summoned By: Once you've gathered an appropriate party, Easy: Only on Chs 5 and 10. Normal: Only on Ch 15.
Level Required: Easy: Lvls 50-70. Normal: Lvls 50-120.
HP Required: 2500+ (verification?)
Boss HP: 12,270,000
KB: N/A (Immobile)
EXP: 0
Difficulty: Easy: 1/5, Normal: 3/5
Notable Drops: Currently checking and seperating Easy and Normal mode drops (feel free to help). So far, I've got: Easy: Lvl 80 and 90 weapons with a tiny boost in base stats (noted by having "Balrog" in their names, ie: Black Mamba -> Balrog Black Mamba) as well as some "unique" Balrog weapons (verification needed). The Normal mode Balrog supposedly drops the same items but with a bit more base stats as well as White Scrolls and Chaos Scrolls. Both versions also drop Balrog shoes which can be upgraded for more stats with Balrog Tears (verification needed!).

Crimson Balrog (C. Rogs)

This boss attacks in pairs on the ship ride between Victoria Island and Orbis (both ways). Crimson Balrogs spawn at about 2 minutes into the ride or else not at all.
The Crimson Balrog is indeed more powerful than the Jr. Balrog. Its touch damage is a bit stronger (over 2,000 a touch) and almost double the damage with its Magic Attacks (over 4000!). But it is actually still possible for Hermits around Lvl 80 to solo them.
The method for those without enough HP to take them on is the so-called "Disorder Method." You only need enough HP and Def. to take on the touch damage from this boss and at least Lvl 1. Disorder (if you have Darksight, you'll have Lvl 3). The first step of this method is to wait on one side of the mast and buff up and spam Lucky 7 at one of the Crimson Balrogs. Once it gets your attention, jump to the bottom of the mast to avoid getting hit by its Magic Attack. It will chase you, but once it gets close, jump into it (you'll get touch damage, thus avoiding the much more lethal M. Atk) and use Disorder. This will make the C. Rog passive again and return to simply flying around the ship once more. Use the teleporter to get back to the top and repeat. Avoid getting both aggrovated at you, it makes this fight harder than it should be!
Level Recommended: 80+
HP Required: 2200+ (See Description)
Boss HP: 100,000
EXP: 3500
KB: 5000
Difficulty: 3.5/5
Notable Drops: Hwabi Throwing Stars

Orbis/El Nath/Aqua Road

Bosses In Area: Elliza, Snowman, Zakum, Seruf, Pianus

Elliza

The Goddess' pet's shadow can be found at Stairway to the Sky II in Orbis. She does about 1,000 damage so it's not a devastating hit, but you'll still need to watch your HP. There are Lucidas that spawn near her and she also summons baby Lucidas. The baby Lucidas are easy to take care of, but the Lucidas may be a problem for the lower leveled who want to take her on. Once you take her out, she drops a bunch of Lucidas' tails.
Spawn Time: 20 minutes.
Level Recommended: 75+
HP Required: 1500+
Boss HP: 87,000
EXP: 2800
KB: 3000
Difficulty: 2.5*/5 (Rating by Orange111)
Notable Drops: Purple Osfa Shoes, Dark Mystra Gloves

Snowman

The area boss of El Nath can be found at Valley of Snowman, a hidden-street off of Ice Valley I.
This boss may be a challenge for the lower leveled. This boss has 120,000 HP, a large amount for lower leveled Hermits. It spreads a icy mist that deals 500 damage every 1-2 seconds, but you can usually stay out of it. It can also shoot an ice ball out of the Yeti's mouth or the Hector on its head will throw a snowball at you. This boss also summons Jr. Yetis. Watch your HP and you'll see this boss go down in no time, with a reward of Jr. Yeti skins, Hector Tails, Yeti Horns, and the awesome Yeti Keychain!
Spawn Time: 15 minutes.
Level Recommended: 80+
HP Required: 1700+
Boss HP: 120,000
EXP: 5200
KB: 3000
Difficulty: 2.5/5
Notable Drops: Chaos Scroll
Tips From The Pros:
xxbrandon: make sure you have at least 8 free slots in your use inventory. the snowman drops 2 elixirs and 2 mana elixirs for everytime you kill it. it's pretty common. but sometimes, you don't get a single elixirs. so, 1 use slot for elixirs and another 1 for mana elixirs. so what about the other 6 slots? well, it's pretty much for your scrolls you found. i started hunting snowman today and i found some decent scrolls. but i ran out of use slots because i only free up 4 slots. so i had to sacrifice my town scroll to pick up my 60% gloves attack.

Zakum

Almost being constantly fought, Zakum is probably the most popular to fight of the Big 4. Despite having much more HP and being higher leveled, Zakum's attacks actually deal much less than that of Pianus. It is suggested to start on the arms on the right, then the ones on the left. Pound away at the body's 3 forms and this boss will go down. This boss has a myriad of attacks and abilities, so be prepared for anything! Its body when fought can summons large mobs, none of monsters really significant enough to actually ruin a party, they just get in the way. Some groups will allow attackers as low as Lvl 100, but most only go for Lvl 120+. This boss drops the Zakum Helmet praised by many and drops the Triple Throw Skillbook as well as the Lvl 20 Triple Throw Mastery Book.
Summoned By: Dropping an Eye of Fire at Zakum's Lair. Only on channels 4,5,6 on GMS. This map can only be accessed twice every 24 hours.

Seruf

This area boss of Aqua Road can be found at 'The Seaweed Tower'. Like most other area bosses, it can easily be taken down solo. It is able to cast Blind on players and able to cast Super W. Def on itself to lengthen the battle, but with only 7800 HP, should not take long to crack.
Spawn Time: 45 Mins.
Level Recommended: 30+
HP Required: 100+
Boss HP: 7800
KB: 300
EXP: 330
Difficulty:2/5
Notable Drops: Chaos Scroll

Pianus

The only naturally spawning boss of the Big 4, this gigantic fish can be found at The Cave of Pianus in Aqua Road. The Right Side Pianus has 30 mil HP and can deal about 4,000 with its 10 Ton Blocks attack and a bit over 4,600 with its energy beam. The Left Side is quite weaker than its Right Side counterpart. The Left Side has 6 mil less HP and its attacks deal about 1,000 or so less than the Right Side. Both sides can Seal and Dispell as well as summon Blood Booms. The Blood Booms can be annoying, so it's suggested to clear the ones in front of you closer to Pianus and avoid touching the ones behind you. Get someone strong enough to kill the Blood Booms in a single hit or else they'll deal damage of 10,000 to you! So make sure to tell other members of your party to keep their summons off. This fight is a real challenge, especially if both sides are spawned.
Spawn Time: Right Side, 24 hours. Left Side, 36 hours.
Level Recommended: 140+
HP Required: 3800+ (Left Side) 4600+ (Right Side)
Boss HP:
Left Side: 24,000,000

Notable Drops: Blue Katte, Blue Katinas, Pianus's Scream, SS20, SS30
Tips From The Pros:
Dhp1161: The pianus bombs dont explode if you hit under1k i think so if you accidently punch it dont worry, pianus is also a lot easier than people think.

Ludibrium/Omega Sector/Korean Folk Town

Bosses in Area: Rombot, Timer, Papulatus, MT-09, Chief Gray, Zeno, Goblin Kings, Old Fox

Rombot (Lombard)

This guy spawns in The Hidden Tower, a hidden-street off of the 8th Floor of Eos Tower in Ludibrium but also can be encountered in Carnival PQ. With 33,000 HP, this boss can be easily taken out by Lvl 40+ Sins. Its groundshaker attack can be avoided by jumping, but it deals only minor damage. There is a ladder you can hop into if things do somehow get rough. This boss spawns on a platform that also spawns King Block Gollems.
Spawn Time: 60 minutes.
Level Recommended: 40+
HP Required: 1000+
Boss HP: 33,000
EXP: 720
KB: 500
Difficulty: 1.5*/5 (Rating by Orange111)
Notable Drops: Dark Guardian, Blood Slain

Timer

This wacky boss spawns at Whirlpool of Time as well as most of the surrounding maps. So depending on the map where it spawns, the fight can be a little easier or a little harder because of the mob around when fighting this boss. It has the ability to Stun and Blind. With 21,000 HP, this monster won't take very long to take down.
Spawn Time: 25 Mins.
Level Recommended: 40+
HP Required: 500+ (?)
Boss HP: 21,000
KB: 1100
EXP: 650
Difficulty:2/5
Notable Drops: N/A

Papulatus (Pap)

The easiest of the Original Big 4 bosses on GMS, this boss can be fought at Deep Inside the Clock Tower in Ludibrium. The recommened level to take this boss on in a party is Lvl 90+, and 120+ as a solo. After attacking the Time Sphere, Pap's first form will appear. The first form is large in size, has 23 mil HP, but has Magic Attacks that only deal a bit over 2,000 damage. But, it also has the abilites to Dispell, Stun, and reduce HP and MP to 1. This form can also summon Dark Stars, bombs that deal significant damage. The Low Dark Stars summoned on the ground deal up to a bit over 4,000 damage. The High Dark Stars, summoned on the platforms, can deal over 8,000. If you have the Sound Effects on, it is possible to hear the Dark Stars being summoned (sounds like a car speeding by?). But avoid the top ones definitely. The first form also has the ability to "sleep," where it retreats inside its shell and become invincible as long as it is inside. In its "sleep," it cannot perform attacks, so take this time to re-buff.
Once the first form goes down, the second form emerges. Smaller, but faster moving. It has no attacks, it will simply try to run you over with its touch that can deal about 5,000 damage. This can be avoided with Dark Sight or simply ducking (holding Down). With only 1.59 mil HP, this form lasts only a small fraction of the time of the first form.
Summoned By: Placing a Cracked Piece of Dimension on the correct spot in Deep Inside the Clock Tower. This map can only be entered twice a day.

Tips From The Pros:
ECistheBest: u can probably change the hp required for pap to 3.2k. that's bout the touch dmg of pap when he runs you over.

bottom bombs are avoidable, just watch when the bottom bombs are summoned next time you go with a dk, so you can figure out the animation/sound effect. both top/bottom bombs are the same animation, but i always fj away when i see that deadly animation. o_o

also about the bombs, hermits and NLs should always leave the top bombs. when pap summons too many top bombs (iono the exact count, prolly like 32) it can't summon bottom bombs anymore. so it does the animation still, but no bombs summon because top has the capacity. xD

with the second form, i always back jump shoot till i get close to the wall, darksight away, remove darksight and fj away and wait till pap gets in my range. also, if u have sounds on, theres the left most platform that you get lots of bombs on, and when you jump up all of them blow up. its pretty loud.

my first solo was 124. i recommend lower level/att range NLs (like me) to apple and hit over 10k to KB first body to the left. its tough when he corners you.

NinjaSen: If you decide to leave all the bombs on the top ledges of Pap, becareful when you're fighting second body. It's happened to me before where I was jumping backwards and didn't realize my first jump activated the bombs and on my second jump, Boom.

MT-09

This odd looking boss spawns at "Defeat Monsters," a hidden-street on the map Boswell Field VI in Omega Sector. Only 13,500 HP, Lvl 40+ Sins can take it out with ease. Its attack is to fire a missile which can easily be avoided.
Spawn Time: 40 minutes.
Level Recommended: 40+
HP Required: 1000+
Boss HP: 13,500
EXP: 980
KB: 300
Difficulty: 1.5*/5 (Rating by Orange111)
Notable Drops: Brown China Top (M)

Chief Gray

[Note: Even though this boss is not flagged as a boss, we could consider it as a mini-boss for Omega Sector]. This top-ranked Gray is indeed the strongest of all the Grays. Despite that, he isn't a difficult boss as long as the player doesn't get careless when taking it on. Chief Gray has one attack which does area damage, but it doesn't have that much range, so keeping your distance would make this fight a lot easier (his KB rate is only 1, so it shouldn't be too difficult to keep a safe distance). This monster also likes to summon Barnard Greys to join in the fight.
Spawn Time: Uncommon monster spawn rate at Kulan Field IV, Kulan Field V, and Barnard Field (despite uncommon spawn, multiple can spawn on a map at once)
Level Recommended: 35+
HP Required: 1000+
Boss HP: 9OOO
EXP: 580
KB: 300
Difficulty: 2/5
Notable Drops: Claw Production Simulator, Red Goni Shoes

Zeno

This so-called 'formidable opponent' spawns at Grey's Prarie in Omega Sector. This boss can be a bit scary to low levels who have wandered into his map, but he is not really difficult. He can somewhat be seen as a stronger version of Chief Gray in that he moves very slow and has a Star Shower attack which deals only about 250 damage. What is different is this boss has much more HP and has an attack where he slams his fist into the ground, where if a player gets hit, will receive about 250 damage as well as get pushed back a pretty good distance. This boss also packs a much higher KB than the Chiefs.
Spawn Time: 35 Mins.
Level Recommended: 50+
HP Required: 500+
Boss HP: 36,000
KB: 5,400
EXP: 940
Difficulty:2.5/5

Goblin Kings

These three menacing bosses can be battled at Haunted House in Korean Folk Town. They are not a real threat if you just bring enough HP pots and watch your HP. They don't deal massive damage, but the Blins do get in the way. Take them out one-by-one or have a bit of fun and take on all three Goblin Kings at once!
Summoned By: Placing the correct food items provided by the townspeople of Korean Folk Town in the correct spots (Rice Wine on the Lantern, Buckwheat Paste on the hole in the tree on the left side of the map, and Roasted Pork on the pile of rocks on the far right).
Level Recommended: 60+
HP Required: 1000+
Boss HP: 25,000 (each)
EXP: 400 (each)
KB: 1000
Difficulty: 1.5*/5 (Rating by Orange111)
Notable Drops: Red Mystique Shoes from Blue King Goblin, King Goblin's Club, King Goblin's Cape, King Goblin's Hat (Note that King Goblin item drops are the Quest Items, not the equips themselves!)

Old Fox (Gumiho)

This large white fox can be found at Moon Hill, a hidden-street off of Fox Ridge in Korean Folk Town. This boss can heal itself and the Samihos around it. It deals a M. Atk, but it's not so deadly. She can also cast Seal/Darkness, so bring All Cures unless you don't mind being in these status ailments for 10 seconds. The Samihos can hinder you a bit, their Curse can cut the exp you can get from this boss in half. Once defeated, this boss drops plenty of Samiho Tails and its Old Fox Tail, needed for the quest involving it. But just a note: After defeating this boss, if you're walking back to Korean Folk Town, you'll see that this Old Fox still has one more trick up her sleeve!
Spawn Time: 35 minutes.

Boss HP: 89,000
EXP: 1300

Mu Lung

Bosses in Area: Tae Roon, King Sage Cat

Tae Roon

This giant Kung-Fu grizzly can be found at Territory of Wandering Be@r in Mu Lung. This boss has an attack that can deal about 600 damage and can literally send you flying. Tae Roon can also heal and buff himself and the Karate Pandas and Grizzlies around him when enraged. He can also use Super W. Def. Up, turning weapons attacks into only 1 damage on him. He does have a decent amount of HP, but it is a fun fight IMO. Once defeated, he drops a bunch of Red and Yellow Karate Belts.
Spawn Time: 30-40 minutes.

King Sage Cat (Master Goblin)

The giant cat which sits on a cloud can be found at Goblin Forest 2. This boss is similar to Tae Roon, it also has an attack that can fling you a distance and it can also heal and buff the Sage Cats around it as well as Super W. Def. Up. This boss has much more HP than Tae Roon. When defeated, it will drop a load of Old Papers and Cat Dolls, as well as the Antidote for one of the Mu Lung quests.

Singapore/Boat Quay Town/Malaysia Theme Park

Bosses in Area: Captain Latanica, Scarlion, Targa

Captain Latanica

This ghost sailor boss can be found on the last map of the Ghost Ship in Boat Quay Town. This boss spawns when your party enters the map (White Essence required to enter). This boss has a boat launcher attack that deals anywhere from 3900 to around 4000 damage. He also likes to run around at a pretty quick pace, but his touch damage deals a lot less damage than his M. Atk. From the looks of its HP, the fight should not last long, but this boss does have the ability to Heal itself early in the fight. Also summons Mr. Anchors and Selkie Jrs.
Summoned By: Dropping a White Essence in the center door of the room.
Level Recommended: 100+
HP Required: 4000+
Boss HP: 2,000,000
EXP: 210,000
KB: 10,000
Difficulty: 2.5/5
Notable Drops: Green Pirate Top (M), Green Pirate Bottom (M), Purple Osfa Pants (M), Red Osfa Top (F), Chaos Scroll

Scarlion

The easier of the two Malaysia Amusement Park bosses. This boss is much easier in a party compared to solo since a Rusher/Crokscrew Puncher is vital to keeping ranged characters from this boss's hefty touch damage that deals about 8,000 damage (on all forms?). This boss comes in three forms, Normal Scarlion, Angry Scarlion, and Furious Scarlion. The first and second forms do very little damage, about 200 max. The first two forms also have very little Accuracy, so expect a lot of Misses coming from this boss. The third form is able to deal up to about 2.6kish damage with its M. Atks. He can shoot little close-ranged bumper cars which you should be out of range of, and he does a roar which has enough range to hit nearly halfway across the map in front of him. If something does go wrong in the fight and you get a Scarlion on the loose, your best bet is to FJ away from it (and even over it (?)) since the map is quite large and this boss isn't amazingly fast moving. This boss is able to cast Super W. Def Up and Super M. Def Up, so if soloing, you won't be able to constantly pin it down. Scarlion is also able to summon Scaredy Scarlions, a very low-leveled monster in comparison, in small mobs which can be rid of very easily.
Summoned By: Dropping 1 Spirit of Amusement Park on the map, Spooky World, under the Scarlion statue.

Targar

The more difficult of the two Malaysia Theme Park bosses, should definitely not be underestimated.
Like Scarlion, this boss comes in 3 forms, Normal, Angry, and Furious. Also like Scarlion, this boss does very little M. Atk damage and the same 8,000 touch damage. Targar has all of Scarlion's abilities (including the Stun Laz0r and the ability to summon Ratatulas instead [also a minor mob that can be wiped out quickly]), but has one special attack which makes it much more difficult. Targar is able to do a furious rush where it becomes invincible-like, nulling all attempts at keeping it pinned, and moves across most of the bottom area of the map, killing any ranged chars unaware of this rushing boss. Right after, it does a crazy back-flip back to its original location. So definitely be careful of this attack! Dark Sight can be used to avoid this attack, but he does it quite frequently.
Summoned By: Dropping 1 Spirit of Amusement Park on the map, Spooky World, under the Targar statue.

Masteria

Bosses in Area: Headless Horseman, Big Foot, Versalian Grandmasters

Headless Horseman (HH)

The easier of the two bosses of the Phantom Forest, he can be found at Hallowed Grave, Crossroads, Creeping Evil, and Evil Dead. He has 3.5 mil HP and is able to deal damage in the upper 2k's, but his knockback rate is a measly 1,500. If you can constantly hit above his KB amount, he is an easy pin-down and you'll easily stay out of his reach. But remember to move a bit while pinning him down, as you can only attack 100 times in succession from a single spot. Darksight causes him to go semi-passive. He will still follow you and will only resume attacking once you are out of Darksight. You can also leave the map and return to make him passive. This boss is actually pretty good exp for Hermits Levels 100+, since he gives 300,000 Exp and most Lvl 100+ will be able to take him out under 6 minutes.
Crossroads and Creeping Evil are the 2 easier maps for this boss, since Crossroads only has a few Cursed Trees to get in your way and Creeping Evil only Cursed Trees and Leprachauns, so he is easiest to pin in those maps. Hidden Evil is almost identical to Creeping Evil, except it only has 1 Lep spawn and a couple Jr. Wraiths to get in your way. Hallowed Ground has plenty of Jr. Wraiths to get in the way, but a quick Avenger can clear them out. Evil Dead is the toughest map for HH! Not only do Elder Wraiths spawn in large mobs there, but Big Foot does as well, making this map a tougher one to manage HH in. But if you do find yourself in this map, remember that Darksight works on all the monsters in this map. Good luck!
*Addition: HH also spawns at the bottom of Forgotten Path. Be careful as Big Foot may also spawn on the bottom of this map as well. But if you do find HH here, it's pretty easy to take him out. There are some Leps and trees that get in your way, as well as some Elder Wraiths and any 2nd form Fire Brands.
Spawn Time: 6 hours.
Level Recommended: 85+
HP Required: 2900+ [This is only recommended if you're afraid of taking M. Atks]
Boss HP: 3,500,000
EXP: 300,000
KB: 1500
Difficulty: 2/5
Notable Drops: Casters, Jack O' Lantern
Tips From The Pros:
Xopar: I train my lvl 80 hermit there with an onyx apple (proness exp because I can kill in 6-7 mins and get 8% per kill).

Big Foot (BF)

The more difficult boss of the Phantom Forest. Big Foot can be found at all Twisted Paths maps, Evil Rising, Forgotten Path, and Evil Dead. This boss can deal a lot of damage, 11k with touch. This boss also has a much weaker earth-stomp attack, which deals only about 40 damage. Fortunately, these attacks are easy to avoid. The ground-stomp can be avoided simply by keeping your distance, because the boss only uses this attack if you're close to it. Even if it does initiate the attack because you're close to it, the animation is slow, allowing you time to back up or prepare to jump to avoid it. The touch, ofcourse can be avoided by keeping your distance. For Hermits/NLs, the touch will more often be the killer since it's pretty tempting to FJ over it when cornered or at the end of a fighting area. it is highly suggested to Dark Sight and walk through it instead (dont' worry, it will still follow you, but while in Darksight, it will not use its ground-stomp attack). This boss also moves really fast (faster than a player with haste, pretty equal to the speed of a Hog/Silver Mane. This boss also occassionally jumps (pretty much only when you're attempting to jump over it or are on higher ground.

Fighting BF On Different Maps:
• Twisted Paths: It's suggested you designate a smaller area to fight BF on. This will allow you to initially clear the Jr. Wraiths out of that area, and unless you or another player kill Jr. Wraiths in other areas of the map, you can easily maintain a pretty clean area to fight BF on.
• Evil Rising: Similar to Twisted, except you have one or a few Elders that like to creep into your fight. But if you've kept your area clear of Jr. Wraiths, you can easily tear down the Elders and resume your fight.
• Forgotten Path: The easiest map to solo/party on. A wide map with little interference (occassionally an Lep/Tree will re-spawn or Elder will come down, and very rarely will HH spawn in your fight), this map is the ideal map for this fight as a Hermit/NL. The center of the map (flat area between two raised areas) is the best area to keep BF in. If you can do this, you'll not have to deal with it jumping and if you're partied, this will allow areas on both sides of the map for other party members to rest/re-cast buffs.
• Evil Dead: This map is more difficult to solo BF on. Unlike HH which can be pinned here, allowing you to avoid getting near the Elders, you'll have to move a lot since BF doesn't pin down. The tip is to get all the Elders in a large mob (all of them!), and use BF's speed as an advantage (ya heard right!). This will allow you plenty more 1v1 BF time because since Elders are slower, when they're both chasing you, BF will be able to easily get into the open, allowing you to attack it with L7/TT. It can flinch and be enveloped in the mob, but use the invincibility to Avenger at the Elders to cause them to KB. By then, BF will recover and run out of the Elders mob into the open again.
Partied, this map can be much easier. I recommend getting a lower-levelled/weaker Thief to Darksight and gather up all the Elders on one side of the map. once that's done, you'll have a very flat and open map to tackle BF on!
Spawn Time: 8.5 hours.
Level Recommended: 100+ (Party), 120+ (Solo)
HP Required: Any (See Description)
Boss HP: 32,000,000
EXP: 2,660,000
KB: 2000
Difficulty: 4/5
Notable Drops: Big Foot's Toe
Tips From The Pros:
iFIew: -Be careful of its stomp. If someone walks into your map, and dies either attacking or without attacking the bigfoot, the bigfoot will go over to his ghost, and use stomp. If you are in the area, you can avoid this by jumping/FJing away. You WILL get hit if you do not jump or are in the air.

Versalian Grandmasters

*This part was originally written by IcedFire for the Archer Training Guide, but I've fixed it up to better prepare NLs for this sweet battle!

Once your squad is able to surpass the pre-tests of the CWK PQ, you'll arrive at the Grandmaster Hall, where you'll face the last challenge!

It is especially important for players to be fully prepared for this boss battle since it is unlike pretty much any other boss battle in Maple Story so far. Unlike the bosses that are just 1-on-1 with some mobs or the bosses that have forms that follow eachother in a specific order, you will have to do battle with all four Grandmasters on the map at once!

But using the right tactics, a well-prepared squad should be able to divide and conquer these four epic monsters. The general idea is to split the Squad so that a Warrior with Rush or a Buccaneer using Corkscrew will be able to seperate the bosses and keep them in positions so that the rest of the squad can take down one Grandmaster at a time.

Margana (reverse the name and you get Anagram) is the Magician-based Grandmaster. Her most infamous ability is that she can place players in the state of Zombify, causing Heal from Bishops to deal damage rather than recover HP and halving HP recovery effects from other skills and potions (verification needed on pot recovery decrease). She can also cast Seal, so the best idea would be to have your partied Bishop spam Dispell instead of Heal (he/she may Heal, but caution must be taken). Margana can also cast a Poison cloud, dealing lower-2k damage on impact with players, and decreasing their HP by 30 as long as they remain within the Cloud. She is also able to summon Dark Menhrirs, which have limited range, but are able to deal over 10k damage, so do not get close to this boss. If you have ample Rushers/Bucs in your squad, use one to pin Margana to an edge. This will easily allow ranged players to take her out without getting many hits. But even without a Rush/Buc, her KB is 20k, so on Apples and SE, many ranged attackers will be able to do a good job pinning her down. She has the least HP of the 4 Grandmasters, so she will go down the fastest.

Red Nirg (Grinder) is the Warrior-based Grandmaster. This hulk of a Grandmaster may be large, but he is not a major challenge for most squads. His KB is a whopping 80,000, but a Rusher/Buc will be able to keep this boss pinned down for ranged players to crumble him from a safe distance. He is able to cast a Rage-like skill, boosting the attack of himself and other Grandmasters close enough to him. This will probably annoy your Rusher/Buc/other melee attackers, since his damage will go up to the neighborhood of 6k. But despite being a Warrior, don't be fooled, this guy is able to really mess up an inexperienced party. The first thing is his range. He does a wild spin tornado attack which has 250 range, so definitely don't get closer than needed. Second, he can summon (large) mobs of familiar CWK monsters (Windraiders, Firebrands, Stormbreakers, Nightshadows, and ofcourse Crimson Guardians). Be sure to not get too distracted. As long as your Rusher/Buc maintains control of this boss, the mobs should go down quick. If not, keep your eyes on Red Nirg and the CGs. Once defeated, he splits into Scarlet Phoenix and Azure Ocelot, two mini-bosses your squad should take out with relative ease.

Hsalf (Flash) is the Thief-based Grandmaster. Despite having a cool outfit, this boss is mostly his name spelled backwards and not a big threat. He has a Shadow Mesos Explosion skill, which is a creative combination of Mesos Explosion and Shadow Mesos. Creative, but not threatening. It lacks the power of ME like most know it for, and it doesn't fly quickly at targets like Shadow Mesos. Instead, the Red Mesos are thrown out, hover for a sec, and then explode for near-3k damage. Also creative, is his use of his Dagger and his Claw. Able to perform a Savage Blow-like melee attack and a 'Star Rain' ranged attack, they are fun to watch! But non-threatening due to his low KB. Also impaired by his low KB is his superior Speed which can be boosted to an insane 245%! A squad that gets this far should beat him without difficulty. But in the rare case that it comes down to a 1-on-1 with you against Hsalf, it's said that this battle is a fun and interesting one!

Rellik (Killer) is the Archer-based Grandmaster. The most difficult of the Grandmasters. His appearance isn't so threatening, but his attacks more than make up for that. All of his attacks come with added effects, so you have to be able to react quickly. His most infamous attack is his 1/1 + Poison attack (Poison does 300/second damage). Up until now, you should not have used many HP pots as a ranged attacker, so you should have plenty prepared for this attack, use them! He is also able to do Arrow Rain and Arrow Explosion attacks, both dealing near-2k damage combo'ed with Stun. The Explosion attack puts players in a lengthier Stun than his Rain attack. This guy can be left to last so ranged attackers will have an easier time finishing the battle, but if your melee attackers are having trouble with this boss, it can be fought at any time after Margana.

Good Luck!

Summoned By: Clicking the NPC in the Grandmaster Hall, after defeating the initial mobs.

1) Yes, but you have to get a new White Essence every time to enter the room and to summon him.
2) I don't remember a max limit for the map, but you can definitely solo if ya got enough HP to do so.
3) Yes, he can attack you while you're in DS. He's auto aggro meaning he'll attack you even if you haven't hit him, and his M. Atks go through DS.
4) If you leave, you'll have to get another White Essence to re-enter and re-summon (map gets reset).

Always nice to have a challenge once in a while, right? Plus the Captain's attacks have much more range than HH's. But yeah, no Dispell, so HB should handle it fine. xD

I've used this guild for BF (failed misserably) and HH (really good actually)
And yea, to train there decently I'll need onyx. I'm trying to do the latanica, luckyly I have HB mule (HP warrior) which can handle prolly 3 attack of latanica =D
Still gonna be hard if my hermit died tho....
And orangeking, I do think if putting speed of boss into your guild will be quite useful
