Popular/Well known Basil Artists? Back when I used to post art here regularly, people like Desiara, PirateJing, GentleRain, GenuineLaughter and others (I've missed out quite a few names) had the screen section buzzing with activity. Then there was the amazingly skilled Lanique and her realistic maple art, and lilzara with her epic, epic compositions. I guess the basil screen section is different now, and it seems to me that people pay much less attention to art posted here. Nevertheles, I'd love to know who the prominent/popular basilmarket artists are these days. There are a few old basilmarket lurkers, like myself, who'd love to know this too. Any recommendations/links would be greatly appreciated :)
Hello Basilmarket! It's been quite some time since I've drawn anything at all, but here's a pencil sketch of Magnus that I just finished. Took a few artistic liberties with his design, but oh well. I have another maplestory art project that i'm worki
A small surprise for my friend, the talented whose work is always a pleasure to see. I thought I'd pick up the old ballpoint pens again. Needed a break from all the digital stuff I've had to do recently. Anyway, here's klydekiss duking it out with Ki
As the ghouls of the Black Mage surround the Onyx Dragon, it realizes that these are its last moments. It looks over its homeland, seeing the countless bodies of its fallen kin. Enraged, it gathers the last of its strength for one final attack.
When should I begin sellling my artwork As the thread title suggests, I'd really like to know if you guys think I should begin selling my skills as an artist, or whether I should wait. In light of my relatively recent exploration of digital painting, it has occured to me that I'm not nearly as lop-sided towards traditional media as I used to be. I know I'm just scraping the tip of the Iceburg here (I'm not blind) but I do believe that I'm beginning to become more well acquainted with digital art, while still keeping my traditional art roots. My training is actually in graphic design, but I feel that skills in illustration will be a definite edge when it comes to the professional field (many of my colleagues who can't draw disagree with me h
Womano: Bye honey! Make sure the kids get to the hunting grounds on time...and try not to get killed too many times yourself! As an unsuspecting Mano leaves for "work", noobs hide and wait for the perfect time to STRIKE! >:] You and I hunted the guy
Plagued by a powerful curse, this fallen king is bound to the grounds of his castle, doomed to wander them forever. He surrounds himself with a horde of powerful minions, the likes of which had never been seen outside the walls of his castle. Overloo
Exiled from the desert city of Ariant, the deeds of these destructive spell-casters echo throughout the memories of Ariant's citizens. Although dwindling in numbers, now, with the return of the Black Mage shaking the Maple World's foundations, they r
As the maple world crumbles under the might of the Black Magician, the inhabitants of the maple world valiantly stand their ground. However, as the situation grows more desperate, the need arises for reinforcements. Now, deep beneath the City of Edel
Whew, its finally finished! A small handful of basilers were curious as to what I would do with the "Zakum Battle" idea. I was inspired to finally put my vision on paper after seeing 2 excellent interpretations of the same idea. This is the 2nd Maple
Dedicated to one of greatest Paladins ever to set foot in the [W]hiteKnights guild. He's stuck with us through maple-think and maple-thin *tears*. Finally, the second picture in my "Elemental Charges" series. I was inspired to do this after witnessin
Well, it sure looks like an awesome job, and the design for the final dragon, I feel, is definitely one of Nexon's best designs to date. I decided to try my hand at it with a quick sketch. Hope I did it justice.
Featuring Shassia and LexusX. I quite liked enhancing the designs of the 'Timeless' weapons. Done in ballpoint pen, and touched up in photoshop. "The Battle of Horntail" has reached almost 1000 likes, so a big "thanks" all for the support thus far! :
Traditional media tests an artist's decisiveness, and for that, I feel it is best to train in traditional media, first. Digital media however, cannot me ignored. Done in photoshop CS2, 100% pure brushwork. No filters, no custom brushes, no textures.
Done in colouring pencils and red ink. For the record, I would have preferred Ifrit to have been part of the Fire Mage skill set.
At this point, I am half way through my self-driven training. I've made some minor improvements, with the focus on the speed of picture output.
